The end game to my long and lustrous non-existent criminal career is to steal all the loose change in the world.
It would be the perfect crime, mainly because people won't really give a crap but it'll still annoy everyone in the world.

Ohio prisoners receive drone delivery of cigarettes, marijuana, and heroin. Man, Amazon is really going for that new drone delivery service!
It wasn't until authorities later reviewed surveillance tape that they saw what led to the fisticuffs: A drone had flown over the yard and dropped a package. Inmates were able to get their hands on the delivery containing 144.5 grams of tobacco, 65.4 grams of marijuana and 6.6 grams of heroin before the fight ensued and the package was thrown into the prison's south yard, the incident report said. If the heroin is half pure, that package amounts to about 140 individual doses, according to The Columbus Dispatch.
Officers had to use pepper spray to get the situation under control, according to the report. Inmates were later strip-searched before being allowed to return to their cells. Nine inmates were placed in solitary confinement following the incident. Authorities later found the package in an equipment room in the southern part of the facility, the report says.

F1 driver Jenson Button and wife burgled on holiday in France
The British former F1 champion's spokesman said they were unharmed but everyone was "unsurprisingly shaken". The Sun newspaper reported that valuables worth £300,000 were stolen. The couple married in December.
Button's spokesman said: "Two men broke into the property whilst they all slept and stole a number of items of jewellery including, most upsettingly, Jessica's engagement ring.
"The police have indicated that this has become a growing problem in the region with perpetrators going so far as to gas their proposed victims through the air conditioning units before breaking in."
Button, 35, who drives for team McLaren, is based in Monaco, about 80 miles (130km) along the coast from Saint-Tropez. He won the F1 championship in 2009 driving for Brawn GP and finished in eighth place in 2014.

I just found out that my hotel room was robbed last night.
My BFF and I have been living out of a hotel since losing our place. She gets jobs working as a babysitter around the building and, until recently, had a newspaper route. A man came to our room while I was out under pretenses of offering her a job, then drugged her, stole all the money she had managed to save up, and took our PS 3 as well. She says she doesn't think he hurt her, so that's good, at least.
So, um. I guess if you're reading this and you ever find yourself considering stealing from homeless people, maybe don't commit one of the most asshole thefts imaginable.

Probably for the best, he needs to be punished but he clearly had some problems mentally. And this spares the families years of appeals.

Jared Fogel, formerly of Subway, has reached a plea deal in his child porn/underage sex case. He will serve between 5-12 years in prison, will have to pay a hefty restitution fine, have computer monitoring, and can't be unsupervised around minors.

People with Ashley Madison accounts could be receiving threats of blackmail in their inboxes.
Rick Romero, an IT specialist who runs an email provider called VF Email, uncovered spammers trying to use the service to target victims of the Ashley Madison hack. People can use VF Email to create a free email account. Romero said it's not uncommon for spammers to sign up to send bulk emails. Friday morning, he said his spam filter flagged a series of mass emails sent to Ashley Madison victims, first reported by Krebs on Security.
"Unfortunately your data was leaked in the recent hacking of Ashley Madison and I now have your information," the extortion email read. The group requested one bitcoin (around $225) to prevent the information from being shared with the user's significant other. The message said users have seven days before being exposed.
"It looked like they attempted to send about 1,500 or 2,000 [messages] through my service," Romero told CNN Money. "They probably filtered the database for recent log-ins." While Romero's filter prevented many of these emails from going out, he estimated that around 500 were sent before the filter was activated. It's the latest fallout from the security breach. Much of the stolen database, which was initially posted on the dark web (which is accessible through a special browser called Tor) has made its way to the open web. Along with extortion, victims risk identity theft, as many personal details like addresses and partial credit card information are now available.

Extortion and blackmail are pretty much the same thing, except that the latter revolves around defamation as oppossed to an threat of violence.
And as for prosecution: First the spammers needs to be arrested, and the quickest way to do find them is with their IP addresses. And then the 4Chan Party Van is dispatched and offers the hackers freedom, fame, and justice...but mostly justice.

In other news: James Holmes (who shot up The Dark Knight Rises theater back in 2012) has been sentenced to a whopping 3,318 years in prison. Truly the best outcome for this trial.
A bit horrific one. A few days ago, Austrian police was notified of an abandoned vehicle sitting on a highway. Upon opening it, they found a pile of corpses belonging to Middle Eastern migrants.
71 corpses have been counted (59 men, 8 women, 4 children, one of them a toddler), even though counting them was made harder by the fact that they've already started to decompose. Cause of death is still being investigated, but suffocation is likely, as the truck has a refrigerated and air-tight cargo area for meat transport.
The truck was carrying Hungarian license plates registered on the day before to a Romanian; it was also bearing the logo of a Slovakian company, but they said they sold the truck last year. The new owner, a (probably fake) Hungarian company, has dropped off the radar, apparently bought by a Ukrainian.
Austrian authorities say their Hungarian colleagues arrested two Bulgarians and one Hungarian; Hungarian authorities say they arrested three Bulgarians and one Afghan. All indications say the perpetrators were part of an international human smuggling ring.

That's also made the news in Britain.
Hungarian police got all of the bastards, but they're only being run in for human smuggling, as the deaths didn't take place in Hungary. If it turns out that the victims were already dead by the time the vehicle crossed the border, the Hungarian authorities will charge them with murder too.
Speaking of migrants, there have also been minor incidents of arson by migrants passing through Hungary. In one of the registration camps, a migrant set fire to a tent as protest against being held there; police didn't catch him yet. There's also one reported incident of migrants walking along train tracks pelting a passing train with stones in annoyance at being forced to make way.
I also heard in the news today that Hungarian prisons are housing 50% more inmates than five years ago and consequently are massively overcrowded. So badly overcrowded, in fact, that convicted child murderers are successfully suing the Hungarian government in front of the European Court of Human Rights for money.

So we have one for terrorists of various stripes and another on the ethics of law enforcement. So why not cover crimes that are less specific? Like what an (failed) bank robbery that recently occurred or that recent manhunt in New York? As long as this thread doesn't devolves into an "how to rob X or assassinate Y" discussion, I'll doubt if this thread will get locked. Or it may never achieve liftoff because of
