I'm still leaning toward 1.1; everything else is good for an Image Links page.

Been trying to find an image that isn't basically just a brown image recoloured white, but not much luck finding one I'm happy with.

I still favor the first suggestion because it draws the most attention to the inhospitable climate. Most of the Star Wars suggestions draw much more attention to the AT-ATs, Warhammer to Urban Warfare, and Girls und Panzer to tank battles than the weather.

The OP's suggestion is the best one for me.

Make that +6. As the guy who started the YKTTW on this trope I think it sums up the conditions quite nicely as you said above.

Yeah, the second is actually better than the OP depending on whether we'd want to emphasize visibility or climate.

The second is the best contender against the OP so far.

I agree, the second is the best contender now over the OP.

Guess I spoke to soon before. But either image will do, I do think this new one has alot of what we're looking for.

I think that for the page image, we can't focus too much on visibility, because we might get something that's too hard for us to see. I think combat and climate should be the focus. And this one actually has explosions in the background.

I think we're good for a crowner with the number of options now available.

looking at this again makes me think of another trope altogether but I cant think of it.

That doesn't so much as say Winter Warfare as 'stationed in the arctic'.

IE Captain Kirk being stranded on an ice planet in Star Trek pretty much looked like that but was not 'winter warfare'.
