Suggestion: Arch Enemy.Comic Books

Comicbooks are a goldmine of arch-enemies. Here are several options for the OP:

• Superman vs Lex Luthor◊
• Captain America vs Red Skull
• Judge Dredd vs Judge Death◊
• Wolverine vs Sabretooth◊ (my personal favorite; don't know about the corner logos, though.)

Opened...of those, Cap/Skull and Dredd/Death are my picks.

I like the Mirrored Confrontation Shot in Dredd vs Death, though Wolverine vs Sabretooth nearly matches it.

I like the Wolverine-Sabretooth one best. The Cap-Skull one is reasonable but I have never been a fan of that art style.

I think the Dredd-Judge Death one would be better than the current one on the Evil Counterpart Comic Book page.

I agree. Death is more Obviously Evil than Wario & Waluigi.

Out of the remaining pics, I vote for Wolverine & Sabretooth as well.

How about The Flash versus The Reverse Flash◊? Even to those who're not familiar with the characters, the inverted colour scheme should be an obvious sign one character is the other's arch enemy.

Also, while Judge Death is probably the best-known Judge Dredd bad guy, I'm not sure if you could say he's Judge Dredd's arch-villain, or if Judge Dredd even has one. Dredd and Death certainly don't have the sort of special hero/villain relationship like Batman/Joker or Superman/Luthor do. It'd make more sense to day Death is Judge Anderson's arch-villain.

Keeping on the DC Train, I'm kind of surprised no one's suggested Batman and Joker yet. It's one of the few times that I can think of where the superhero hates the villain's guts far more than the other way around.

I think the composition, with the contrast of colours (or rather lack thereof in Batman's case) really sells it.

Batman and Joker are already on the main page, so I'd refrain from using them again (and their picture in the main page is reaaally similar)

Since Sabretooth/Wolverine carries the most weight so far and it was suggested that Dredd/Death is a clearer example of Evil Counterpart than Mario/Wario due to the former villain's more blatantly Obviously Evil look, I'll expand the suggestions and resulting swaps.

As stated, Joker/Batman is already on the main page for Arch-Enemy (and duplication is exactly why I didn't suggest it), so I think Sabretooth is a good fit for the comics subpage. #1.3 would replace Mario on Evil Counterpart, which would be moved to the videogames subpage (currently imageless). I offer Captain Marvel/Black Adam◊ as a replacement for the current on the Evil Counterpart comics subpage.

Cap vs. Red Skull◊? Or this◊?

I personally think he looks more ominous in #10. They both look equally frenzied in #12 (with Marvel and not Adam the one visibly throwing a punch), making it look less like "hero encounters evil counterpart" and more "two sides of the same coin fight".

Can you find a better shot of #2?

Also found a version of the Wolverine/Sabretooth suggestion without the "popcultureshock" label.

I personally like Supes + Lex, Dredd + Death, and Wolverine + Sabertooth. Though if I had to choose one, I'd choose Dredd + Death (Superman is too overused, and not everyone might know who Sabertooth is).

I like the Captain Marvel / Black Adam picture in 10 but I think it suffers the same problem as the Judge Dredd picture in that it looks more like Evil Counterpart.

If it wasn't for Batman/Joker already being on the main page, I'd go for that instead.

Offhand, I think that the Captain America / Red Skull suggestion in the OP is the best of the suggestions so far.

Although Captain Marvel/Black Adam was intended as a suggestion for Evil Counterpart, not Arch-Enemy. After we've concluded this we should probably change the thread topic, since then we're talking about illustrating three different pages for another trope through a number of swaps (Evil Counterpart, EvilCounterpart.Comic Books, and EvilCounterpart.Video Games).
