If I may, this proposed Politics section of Moral Event Horizon, if it could possibly work, would cover only events that took place in the politicosphere which adhere to the following guidelines:

  1. The act is a clear act of tyranny that goes beyond its intent to punish just the individuals responsible for whatever insurrection to which the act responds;
  2. The act sets up, or threatens to set up, a dictatorship in the country or a specific portion thereof;
  3. The act is lacking in any noble intentions whatsoever and is, at its heart, merciless; and
  4. Dire consequences (including, but not limited to, crippling sanctions, secession of any state(s) that may be targeted, and any leaders involved being removed from office and/or put on trial) end up being enacted against the party that committed the act.

This is not intended to circumvent the No Real Life Examples Please policy on the page, but rather to point out the "hubris" (as it's referred to in Greek tragedy) that causes a political downfall for anyone involved or a country to lose territory in any given political situation, and it is in fact intended to be separate from any "real life" section and restricted to political events only. The guidelines are set so things would remain under control. Could a "Politics" section of Moral Event Horizon work?

As for a specific example, I had the Coercive Acts in mind:

  • The Empire of Great Britain crossed it as far as the 13 Colonies were concerned with the Coercive Acts of 1774, which were labeled the Intolerable Acts by the colonists and pretty much ensured that there would never be peace between the Empire and the 13 Colonies as long as the Colonies were still under British rule.

Moral Event Horizon is under No Real Life Examples, Please!. That's a rather strict policy I believe.

The most controversial/flame war-inducing Moral Event Horizon (/Complete Monster/any other very controversial, somewhat subjective Trope) examples are about politics. This would be bringing in precisely the thing we're trying to avoid.

So, no. You can Holler this post to ask another Mod to consider but for now I'm saying no and locking this.
