Enter the Arena As Your Avatar... V5 (Continuing off Knowless')

WELCOME ALL TO THE FIFTH AND HOPEFULLY FINAL VERSION OF THE ARENA

I'll keep this simple for those of you who join, the only real change is that it's not just an arena, you are in fact allowed to have a plot with your character, however, your character is not allowed to be able to survive "because plot." If you die, you die, oh well, you can respawn.

Rule 1: Let's not be assholes here, nobody likes an asshole. Good rule of thumb, if you don't know, don't do.

Rule 2: You WILL play your Avatar, not as whatever you want, be your avatar, if you need help, ask me I'll tell you how to switch avatars.

Rule 3: Be realistic, not in abilities, but in combat, if it seems like you will get hit, go ahead and be realistic. On the same note, don't be unblockable, nor can you autohit.

Rule 4: NO FOURTH WALL BREAKING!

Rule 5: You will not play as a character equal to or comparable in strength of Superman and or Son Goku, for further detail, even in nerfing, certain characters still can not be played, for instance, you bring in Jesus Christ, yeah, let's just not.

Looting: Looting a downed avatar's corpse is allowed; mind you, when a player respawns his character after death, his corpse inexplicably disappears, so you'll want to be quick about it; if a character's body is looted and he respawns afterwards, he will be missing whatever equipment was taken (Weapons and equipment cannot be duplicated this way). Weapons, equipment, mounts and/or vehicles may also be acquired from the surroundings themselves, provided they can plausibly be found in the setting. ALL EQUIPMENT IS LEFT WHERE DIED EVEN IF RESPAWNING!

Combat: Combat: Pretty much the usual for Play-by-Post Games: You attack; the guy you attacked says whether or not it hit; reverse, repeat. No autohits (wording an attack as if it's already determined to hit), no ghosting (dodging an egregious number of attacks in a row), and no ignoring attacks; if you get ninja'd, edit in a response. Don't try to edit extra actions into a post that aren't reactions, though; there's no guarantee they'll be noticed. If a player goes AFK (Away From Keyboard, i.e. leaves the thread) while his and your avatars are in combat, just pretend his avatar vanished into thin air and move on. The Arena is not an RP; Anyone Can Die here, and respawning is an official feature of the thread; Plot Armor does not apply. Alliances, whether temporary or permanent, are allowed; however, A: this is not a social thread, and B: too much friendship makes for a posse, which is never sporting and almost never fair. That said, there are rules to be used in the event of a posse: If one player is being attacked by two or more other players at once, all players involved take turns, with the defending player going last, lest the fight devolve into one big pile of confusion and ninjas.

Respawning: Yes, that is in fact a feature of the arena, you're characters come back. However, noting some recent events, you cannot respawn and jump back into a battle you died in, even if the odds seem outmatched against your ally, you died in that battle, if we have everyone just jumping back in, then it would never end, so just remember that for future reference.

Environment: I do not prohibit, attacking and/or damaging the scenery note ; anyway, the thread's lack of enforced continuity means that basically all damage is temporary. Also, Non Player Characters do not exist in the Arena, save wildlife that is native to the current setting; such fauna is under the control of whoever decided to have it appear, within reason note . The setting can only change if at least four players agree that it should. At least four are also needed to agree on what the new setting should be; this may turn into a vote, and it may very well take a week or longer. Also, any new setting must have at least one serviceable map. If you leave the Arena for awhile and come back, I suggest you check this post in case the setting has changed.

Other Notes: Every once in a while, I'll give a player something for being overly good at playing their character, more than sportsmanlike, etc. This system should help people stay in character. In order to say something out of character you will type [[ spoiler: ______]], this will put it invisibly and must be clicked on to be seen.

Moderators: (Pm me with your app, including why, how many times you've moderated a forum, and what makes you a better choice than billy-bob over there who sent me a pm as well.) We will start with three, and take in more as time passes and we get more people. Moderators will be tasked with keeping up with the rules of the forum.

I'd prefer a "tinier" map, probably because you've got to have super-speed or stuff to join someone's who far at the end of the map, if it is a huge as I think it is.

Death tower is probably too tiny, given the nature of the fights that will take place.

Well Achivement City, is big it is easy to transport through there are teleporters everywhere

Can't pull it up, will try to find a way to.

It's basically a rather large island with a castle, a little forest behind the castle, beach and plains surrounding the fortifications.

How about Serene Coast (map◊) from World of Tanks? I admit it's pretty big, but it has a variety of terrain for different matchups.

Silence falls on the still-smoldering ruins of a once-great Arena that finally smoldered out, and collapsed to the unforgiving desert below. A lone bird chirps, unperturbed by the chaotic events that led to the downfall of the star that shone, for a long while known as Enter The Arena v4 And yet as the sands of time begin to eat away at the rubble, as it dissolves into the meaningless sea of one's and zeroes that make our digital selves, and to a degree, our actual selves, a new light faintly twinkles far above, growing brighter by the day, ready to fill the virtual vacuum left by the implosion of such a great wonder. And as the dust settles, may we learn from our mistakes to start anew. And at the light above grows, may we too grow, becoming one with our virtual selves until we are integrated and indistinguishable. It will be perfect. It will be flawed. It will be love. It will be hatred. It will be inevitable. And with that, the little bird ceases it's song that perhaps none may hear, and leaves the quiet ruins in search of new fields and forests to sing in.

Also: are we allowed to have our characters have abilities they wouldn't otherwise? Because my avatar is literally me with grumpy cat translucent over it (it's a long story, okay). If not, I'm going to have to change avatars lolz.

as long as you play your avatar, you can have whatever powers you can think of, within reason of course.
