Umm... Are our heroes staring somewhere, or what? Your opening post wasn't very clear.
Yeah you're all starting at a meeting to discuss terms and conditions in case of war.
This is kind of awkward, why would everyone be, just... Somewhere? Wouldn't it be a lot more interesting if everyone met in an organic fashion, like through scouting or something like that? This may be based off Battleworld, but for this setting it doesn't make any sense, and it kind of ruins the atmosphere.
But you are the GM, so... Do what you want, I guess.

I second Oh Boy Time's opinion.
It seems odd that we'd start the RP with what is effectively the first meeting of the Post Apocalyptic UN. Well maybe not exactly the UN. But you get what I mean right?
Post Apocalyptic Geneva Convention might be more accurate I suppose.
Click Click Boom BoomCan we get details on this war? What are the alliances, what is it over, etc.?
Yea, it doesn't leave any room for us to dictate our own interactions, it's just kind of shoving us into a forced thing with no prior explanation.
Okay so what would you rather have for the start?
Maybe we're all in an alliance against a powerful base trying to conquer us and this is a strategy meeting?
Alright I can work with that. Hey it still falls in line with my original plan.
I was anticipating a sort of exploratory phase to start the RP off with. Where you know we'd have to actually locate the other PC towns. I can still work with the everyone already knowing everyone thing. But it wasn't really what I was expecting you know?
Click Click Boom BoomUh... What else but having some sort of map of the area in MS paint, or something. There doesn't even need to be a map. I mean, you really only need to set the scene in the first post, what else? The players can each start in their own places, or wherever they want to start, and then the players decide what to do in the wasteland to survive.
You as a GM implant threats throughout the area in the form of NPC's and the like.
This looked like a freeform RP when I looked at it, and the concept definitely works with it. So you'd probably be good just letting the players interact with the world you've created and then react back. I'm not saying that my ideas are perfect by any means, but I'd hate to see a good idea go to waste.

it was going to be freeform. Players run wild and last allied bases left together would end the RP.
Why did you start it like this then? You've already railroaded everyone into some sort of meeting with literally no explanation as to why it's happening. I'm just confused, is all. Some warning would have been nice.

The original idea there was to get everyone together to sort out who'd be allying with who.
I can try again if you like.
You're the GM, it's your choice. But can't you just let the players meet on their own terms to make alliances and stuff? It doesn't have to happen at the start. I mean, if you want to go through with this awkward start my faction won't be in on it, obviously.
Do, please. It's not quite the right way to start a freeform RP.
“Not a promise, not an oath, or a malediction or a curse. Inevitable." - Taylor HebertOkay I will change it very soon.
EDIT: Alright fixed up, it's now just a brief introduction post with some minor exposition to explain the setting.

Children, who are also soldiers? Oh, my. I wonder what this will lead too. I'm not going to give up on this yet, concept... 2 stronk.
Should we get some sort of crude map set up? Like at a bare minimal we probably need to have rough distances between the towns or something.
Click Click Boom BoomEveryone get their introduction post down and I will get a map up.
Some people probably dropped this when they saw the first post, so. I dunno. I'm probably going to drop this too if there aren't that many people.

Enh win some lose some.
I'm probably going to be playing two side characters fairly commonly, so if you want me to stat up character sheets for them I can totally do that.
"Seven is here too, dressed like the concept of choosing clothes that look nice together was an arcane secret far beyond their grasp."Yeah go ahead. GM interaction here is minimal because hey it's a freeform.
Hello there TROPERs. What do you wish to discuss today?
