Suggestion: Hate Sink

There seem to be some problems with the image uploader right now. Please let me know if they're fixed. Meanwhile I hope I'm allowed to hotlink images.

I'd like to suggest this◊ as a page picture due to being reasonably well known and reasonably obvious to people who don't know the character.

That does not quite look like the trope.

Anyone who knows that Joffrey is one of the biggest little shits in all fiction will get it. anyone else will probably be confused.

I don't know who that is (though I think he's from Game Of Thrones) but the implication seems clear enough. Not sure if it works as a trope image though, just saying as someone who doesn't know.

Same here. I don't watch Game of Thrones (though I've heard quite a lot about about it), but I can understand what you're getting at there. Maybe not the very best image, but a good start.

I don't know if anything can be pulled from this page analyzing a minor character from The Dark Knight Returns who is about as complete an asshole as you're likely to find, but I'll throw it out there.

I honestly like the idea behind the Joffery dartboard , but I don't think it captures the entirety of the trope.

Personally, I'd like a picture that demonstrates either a Mook or The Dragon crossing the Moral Event Horizon in the presence of a Big Bad who either clearly would not cross it or is a Love to Hate type. Unfortunately, no such scene comes to my immediate memory at the moment.

@7: I can't seem to find anything in that page that could decently represent the trope without being at the same time a Wall of Text.

A Ninja With AIDS, all that is completely extraneous to the main trope, which is 'a character whose intended role in the story is to be hated'. "Everything he does and everything he says is designed to make the audience yearn for his death just a little bit more". They don't have to be a Mook or The Dragon, they don't have to be doing bad things to keep the Big Bad's hands clean, they don't have to cross the Moral Event Horizon.
