That last one looks like it might be the best candidate from a cropping vs. legibility standpoint.
8 (almost 10%) of current IP threads are started by The Pope about an article with an image from The Order of the Stick. Just sayin' :)
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.but, Pope, it is an inner monologue. It's inner. Your suggestions rely on loads and loads and loads of irrelevant text (that will, definitely, confuse people) to demonstrate an inner monologue, and I could argue (in the same manner as you) that they don't show an inner monologue because out of context that could just be the narration of the manga. As I said, it will also confuse people who think that the text is relevant to the trope instead of the text of the Inner Monologue.

OH MY GOD; MY PARENTS ARE GARDENIIIIINNNNGGGGG!!!!!And an equal amount of threads I've made in the past month are not Order of the Stick. What's your point?
If I see a bad image or have one that's better, I bring it up. Not my fault if a running trend for this site is having bad Order of the Stick images.
If it's cropped to have the character, it's pretty clear that it's the character doing the monologuing.

Current illustrates an inner monologue infinitely better than the suggestions.
Still not as good as Current to me. Ultimately, Inner Monologue is not a visual trope. Without some kind of lampshade hanging, even the most obvious example may not be a good illustration
An example with a clear thought bubble (with the bubbles leading to the head instead of the point indicating a speech bubble) would help.
Suggestion somehow manages to be worse than a stick-figure drawing.

Would a piece of this page work?

It is to be read right-to-left though, a scanlation of manga.
We discourage images that need to be read right to left as it isn't always clear to casual readers.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickThat one could work if the speech bubbles could be flipped on their own, but their sizes mean that probably wouldn't work.
The clock's way past due and the consensus is for the current; locking up.
The current image doesn't actually show an inner monologue, just a character standing there and others assuming he's having an inner monologue. For all we know he's having a mental lapse. It's a cute gag, but it's not illustrative at all.
Death Note is rife with characters spinning off into inner dialogue; here's a few examples.
