So Earlier Today I Was Showing My Little Sister One Of My Favourite Studio Ghibli Films, My Neighbor Totoro. Since I Have Seen This A few Times I Decided To Take This As An Opportunity to Analyze it And Try To Develope Theories About It And What I Noticed, Frankly, Didn't Make Me Happy. I Looked At The Similarities Between Certain Studio Ghibli Characters In Design And Voice. From The Films I Have Seen Here Is What I Have Found. The First Thing That I Noticed Was The Similarity Between The Older Sister, Satsuke, And Her Mother, Yasuko. They Look More Or Less Exactly The Same With The Difference Of Hair Style And A Bit Of Age Added To Satsuke. If You Use Your Imagination And Age Satsuke, You Will See Her Mother. Now, I Do Realise That this Could Just Be Family Similarities Through Genetics, But One Line That Yasuko Says May Show That They Are The Same Person, "... And I Know That Because You Are The Spitting Image Of Me When I Was Young." Now I Know What You may Be Thinking, "How Could The Older Version Of One Person Meet The Younger Version Of Themselves, That Would Cause A Paradox, Wouldn't It? Well, The Answer To That Question Is Simple, Everyone In The Story Is Dead. That Hospital Is Where Satsuki Died. That Image Of Her Mother Is Just Her Looking As A Ghost Now This Is Where The First Movie To Movie Connection Comes In. Satsuki Is Not Only The Spitting Image Of Her Mother,, But Also Of Another Popular Studio Ghibli Character, Kiki From Kiki's Delivery Service. If You Were To Take Satsuki Out Of Her Normal Clothing And Put Her In A Dark Grey Dress And Give Her A Big, Red Bow, You Have Kiki. So, For This I Am Proposing That After The Events Of The Film Kiki's Delivery Service, Kiki Dies. Now It Is Possible That She Could Have Been Killed By The Crashing Derigible, But If So Then That Would Mean That Tombo Is Also Dead. So Here Is My Proposal, As We All Know, Kiki Has Almost Entirely Lost Her Magic By The End Of Kiki's Delivery Service And She Is Too Stubborn To Let Herself Fail Her Training So She Continues On Living Away From Home And Running Her Delivery Service. Now Here Is Where There Are Two Options, Either Kiki Falls To Her Death After A Delivery Goes Wrong Or She Manages To Complete Her Trainign And Dies On The Way Home either By Failure To Keep In Flight Or By Other Natural Elements. It Is Also Possible That She Could Get Hit By A Train Because She Can Be Very Reckless. Now, Lets Deal With Mei. Mei Is Much More Difficult In Connecting Her To Other Characters, But The First One That I Noticed Was Between Her And Granny. At The Very Beginning Of The Film When Mei And Satsuki Find Soot On Their Hands And Feet, Granny Walks Over And Says A Few Lines In To The Conversation, "... I Could see Them [The Soot Sprites] Too When I Was A Very Small Child." Now This Could Just Be A Coincidence, But Doesn't It Seem Odd That Granny Took Time To Try To Keep The House Neat, Which Actually Bring To Light The State Of The House. It Seems Run Down And Hardly Suitable For Living With Rotting Wood, The Integrity Of The Building Would Make It Unsuited For Living. I Do Realise That They Could Have Fixed Up The House, But There Is Nothing In The Film Even About The Thought Of Doing it So It Is Pretty Difficult To Think That They Would Do It Without Implying It. Now, Lets Focus On Mei For A Little Longer. Aside From Her Possible Connection With Granny, She Also Resembles Ponyo And, As We All Know, Ponyo Becomes Human, Which Makes Her Mortal. She Grew Old And Died Of Old Age, Making Mei. And The Soot Spirits Could Connect It To Spirited Away. Also, I Believe That In The Timeline, The Latest Film Is... Princess Mononoke. Totoro Is Represented As A Forest Spirit Ehcih Means That It Must Come Before Princess Mononoke Because The Forest Spirit Is Killed In Princess Mononoke. In My Next Post i Shall Go Over The Death Of Mei And Satsuki's Father.

So Now It Is Time For me To Discuss Mei And Stasuke's Father, Tatsuo. Now He Was A Bit More Difficult To Think Of And I Did Notice A Few Characters Though. First Of All, Ashitaka From Princess Mononoke. If You Gave Tatsuo Longer Hair And Different Clothing, You Can See That He Is A Spitting Image Of Ashitaka. Remember This, For I Will Be Coming Back To It Later. So He Also Resembles Two More Characters, Jiro From The Wind Rises And Sean From The Secret World Of Arrietty. Remember How In The Last Post I Said That The Latest Film In The Timeline Was Princess Mononoke? Well That Is Wrong. The Latest Is The Wind Rises. I Know That It Would Be Everyone's First Guess Because I Was Miyazaki's Last Film, But I Have Greater Proof. First Of All, Lets Change Subjects, The Legend Of Zelda: The Majora's Mask. It Is Theorized That That Game Represents The Five Stages Of Grief: Denial Or Isolation, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, And Acceptance. As You All Know,The Five Areas Represent The Five Stages But I Just Brought That In So That I Could Bring in The Subject Of The Stages Of Grief. Now Please Note That When I Talk About These I Am Usually Talking About all The Films In General. So The First Stage, Denial And Isolation. In Most Of The Films, The Secret World Of Arrietty Especially, It Usually Starts With The Main Character Moving With His Or Her Family. In The Case Of TSWOA, Sean Is Moved To An Isolated Area To Get Some Relaxation Before His Heart Surgery. In Most Films, Characters Are Experiencing Isolation. One Character That Especially Feels It Is Chihiro From Spirited Away. She Was Torn Away From The Town She Loved To An Isolated House Just Outside Of A Town. When It Comes To Denial, I Turn To Princess Mononoke. One Of The Major People In The Story Is Lady Eboshi. As We All Know, She Looks After The People Of Iron Town And Also Cares For The Lepers. But, Beneath This Kindness Is The Woman That Is Destroying The Environment And Ends Up Killing The Forest Spirit. Everyone In The Town Is In Denial. They Know That Lady Eboshi Has Bad Will Towards The Forest Spirit. The Next Stage Is Anger. This One Was A Bit More Difficult But I Found A Few Things. First Of All, In My Neighbor Totoro, When Mei Gets Angry Over Her Mother Not Being Able To Come Home When Expected, The Two Girls Break Apart Due To An Argument. Although, The Strongest Showing Of This Is In Princess Mononoke. After The Death Of The Animals Of The Forest, They Are Possessed By Some Weird Power Demon Thing That Causes Them To Kill Uncontrollably. It Is Said Near The End Of The Film That They Demon Power That They Get Is Called Anger. Anger Drives Organisms To Do Things That They Never Normally Would Do. The Next One Is Bargaining. This One Is Represented Mainly In Spirited Away. The Two Characters That Show It The Most Is Yubaba, The Witch That Rules Over The Bath House For That Spirits And No Face, The Lonely, Isolated Demonic Spirit. In Order To Not Suffer The Same Fate As Her Parents, She Tries To Get A Job From Yubaba And If She Fails She Is Turned Into A Pig Like Her Parents. She Is Bargaining For Her Life When, It Is Most Likely Already Over. The Next Is No Face. He Just Wants A Friend, Someone To Talk To. He More Or Less Tries To Buy His Friendship From Chihiro (Now Known As Sen) With Things Such As Gold And Bath Tokens. Now, We Reach The Final Stages. Number Four Is Depression. When Kiki Loses Her Magic In The Film, She Gets Depressed Because it Means That She May Fail. Also, Though She Hides It, You Can Just See he Depression That Satsuki And Mei's Mother Is Feeling. Finally, We Reach Acceptance. This Is Represented Mainly In Three Films: My Neighbor Totoro, Princess Mononoke, And Kiki's Delivery Service. This Leads me To Believe That The Entire Story Revolves Around Three People: Mei, Stasuki, And Tatsuo. I Will Draw My Timeline And Post It As A Picture Soon. Please Do Note That This Theory Is Only Around The Studio Ghbili Films That I Have Seen.

The Entire Thing Stems From The Two Films Ponyo And The Secret World Of Arrietty. Ponyo Dies As Normal Humans Do Creating Mei, And In TSWOA Sadako And Sean Die Creating Tatsuo And Satsuki. After That, We Move To Spirited Away. Chihiro (Mei) Is In Denial Of Her Death. Haku Represents Tatsuo And Zeniba Represents The Old Lady That Stasuki Was Never Able To Grow To Be. After That, We Move To My Neighbor Totoro And We Can See How Happy Totoro Makes Mei. He Helps Her Accept Her Death, Removing Her From The Situation. He Does Help Satsuki A Bit Which helps Her Accept Her Death In The Events of The Film Kiki's Delivery Service. Seeing Satsuko And Mei So happy Helps Out Tatsuo And That Lets Him Accept His Own Death In The Film The Wind Rises. That Is The Completion Of This Hectic Theoory (Wow My Older Posts Were Hard To Understand) I Would Appreciate Some Feedback ^^ Possibly Someone That Can Add Some Other Films To The Timeline.

Holy Wall of text batman.

Paragraph breaks man! Paragraph breaks! As it stands I can''t comment on you're idea because it's completely unreadable as a single massive block of text per post.

E Dit: Also turn your damn capslock off! I don't need to be shouted at.

Pazel, we expect people to write legibly. You're capitalising almost every word, and you're not using paragraph breaks at all. You've also triple-posted when your analysis should've been in one post (but broken into at least a dozen paragraphs, judging by the length of it.)

I'll lock this thread. I'll let you have this conversation once you've fixed your posts - use correct capitalisation and paragraph breaks that make sense. When you're done you can Holler to have the thread re-opened.

If you have any questions you can feel free to PM me.
