My Eva fic will end up with such a character. Namely, The Hero Kaworu Nagisa, his Sapient Steed Eva Unit-01 and his Nanoha-style artificially-intelligent Morph Weapon.
They will be so powerful by the finale that they solo an Angel larger than the Moon. And kill it. With a relativistic micro black hole to its core. After a fifteen year Time Skip, they fight a star-sized Angel but even with The Rival's Heel–Face Turn, they only manage to injure but not kill it. Granted, that Angel is specifically mentioned to be Made of Indestructium - but the fact that they still managed to grievously wound it speaks for itself.

Have Ash Ketchum apply strategic thinking to his battles which would be fought by a stable of Memetic Badasses (and Pikachu who himself would take a Level). He'd be so good, that he'd be both The Hero and The Mentor. Garnish with Self Insert Love Interest from his heretofore unknown past.
