Okay I know the last thread just got deadlocked like two weeks ago and I'm sorry but Awkward Zombie just put up a comic that I think would be a great image

A lot of people seemed fine with the current but the last thread went on long enough that maybe there is some merit to changing the image but if not we can just fasttrack morgueing this thread

I'm sorryyyy

Hmmmmm...it has merit, but I'm wondering if there's not another trope that it might work better for.

Fixed the CamelCase. Too Dumbtolive was really confusing.

The suggestion's good, but yeah, I'd prefer it for something else. The Webcomics subpage needs an image; maybe there?

Note that is 4 panels out of 5.

[up] The creator has given permission to use her works so long as you keep her info at the bottom (Says so at the bottom of her FAQ). Just crop the image lower and we can use it.

I'd prefer a regular attribution caption, but perhaps "Used with artist's consent" instead of "Used with artist's permission".

I like the current image, though. Among other things, it is waaaaayyyyyy more simple.

(Here is the previous thread, by the way. There are two others, but they are very old.)

I prefer the suggestion. We can easily tell that it's someone shoving their face into poisonous mist to get treasure and dying. I still feel the current image doesn't make it clear if the girl is actually hesitating or thinking about her options or if she's going to run right past (well, not without reading the caption, but the caption should supplement the image, not explain it to you). They're both funny, but I think the OP's suggestion just works better.

Personally, to me there's nothing in the suggestion to indicate that the character is aware the mist is poisonous at all. The noxious green color would be more effective for that if it didn't pervade the whole image.

I can barely see what makes the character crouch in the gas in the first place.

Really not feeling the suggestion. [tdown]

Why bother using something that requires 4 panels to get to the point, when we already have one that works with only one? [tdown]

Only moderately supportive of the suggestion.

To me the suggestion implies more of a Convection, Schmonvection type of deal where the poison gas is apparently not harmful at all if you don't stick your face in the thick of it.

The current is better.

I must say I prefer the current. It's very clear and kind of fun.

Shame, though because I like the suggestion as well.

We could make Image Links subpage, or as was mentioned above — put it on Too Dumb to Live.Webcomics.

Not sure how it would work on Convection, Schmonvection. It also makes me think of Sickly Green Glow.

Yea, I like the current page photo. The suggestion shows nothing that makes it obvious the guy is too dumb to live. If the suggestion were more clear about what The guy was reaching for and completely ignoring all warnings, maybe it'd work.

Well I certainly can't understand why two people have said it's unclear what the character is reaching for in the suggestion, since it clearly says "LOOT" in the second panel.

[up] It does say loot, but now, reaching for loot doesn't always kill you, does it? The pic would be clearer as illustration of Too Dumb to Live if the second panel said "poisonous green gas". evil grin

I do think the current image is not clear enough. But I agree with most other people on this one. It's not exactly the best example.

I can support the suggestion but only weakly - I'm feeling like some won't get what the green gas is supposed to be. If there were another panel warning about the gas or one showing what the gas is doing, I'd say yes entirely.

So can we just make this the Webcomics subpage image?

If we can't get consensus on changing the current, then I'm fine with putting it on the Webcomics subpage.

It's been a month, with no consensus.
