Gusteau talking to Remy in Ratatouille would work pretty well here. A couple of suggestions: [1][2]

Opened...the suggestions are a slight improvement, although the part about him being a hallucination might not be as clear.

Though a hallucination would inevitably probably look like a spirit of sorts, so...

The current is really bad purely from a quality standpoint. But is might as well be a page quote. It would be easier to ready anyway. Ratatouille is a tough call, because it's hinted that he is a ghost and not a hallucination.

Not sure if the current page quote or the dialogue from the current pic would be better.

The Gusteau and Remy pictures are a significant improvement IMO.

Aye, I don't care for the current at all.

Since the current is just talking heads, should we at least remove it in the meanwhile?

I like the suggestions better than the current by a good margin, but I don't think they're quite clear enough. It's not clear enough that Remy is hallucinating and not actually talking to a ghost or something.

It sounds like the current consensus is "Current is bad, remove it, suggestions are okay, could be better".

How about some panels from Dr McNinja's conversation with a turkey dinner?

[up]Doesn't really illustrate the "helpful" part, though.

Maybe not that particular page, but it goes on for a couple.

Then is there a still image from one of those strips that would work better?

I see walls of text in that comic.

How about the second and fourth panels of this page?

[up]Now there's no way to tell that it's a hallucination and not some weird Companion Cube.

Although it's a less clear example, perhaps we could cut and use some panels from this page of Elf Quest, where Cutter's hallucination leads him to some friendly humans?

I'm thinking of panels 2, 3, 4 and 6 if they can be made clear enough at wiki size? I'm willing to make the editing effort, but only if others think it would illustrate the trope well enough.

It seems to me that the first two panels I suggested show the "hallucination" part clearly, while the final two panels show the "helpful" part.

(Note, the actual page is larger than it seems to be when viewed in a browser and I'll be editing at the larger size before shrinking it to wiki size)

So far, I like 1.1 best. It's not perfect, but maybe some of what it's missing can be made up by the caption. He says:
