One thing I'm kind of hoping for is that if the new Toho Godzilla movie has another monster besides Godzilla {As in, if the film isn't trying to be a solo monster film like the original or Return Of Godzilla}, said monster will be a new one. The last time we got an entirely new Godzilla monster in the toho godzilla movies was Orga in Godzilla 2000.

Full trailer is here
holy shit CATCH THIS HYPE
- this godzilla is terrifying
- jury is still out on the soundtrack as a whole but this trailer song is some of the better work i've heard from sagisu
- why is godzilla's tail so large it's like the entire length of his body and more
It does look well made. Still can't get excited about it for reasons I won't say.
The tail is too big, but otherwise it looks pretty good.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?Because you can't accept that Hideaki Anno took his time wth this instead of Evangelion 4.0?
I like the long tail, actually. Especially considering that it's been of his most useful close range weapons.
And the suit looks much better in motion then on a poster.

Watch SymphogearThe tail is a second, larger Godzilla. It's kind of silly.
My various fanfics. It could have been a little smaller yes.
It's not really that long, it's just curving upwards instead of laying downwards like most Godzilla tails were, the upward curve makes look bigger then it really is.

Watch SymphogearIt's like a lemur tail. But not furry. And always wiggling.
I have to say, I was a bit unsure about the new design when all we had were still images, but it looks a lot better when we see it in motion.
Also, we see this film's Godzilla right in the first trailer. That's a step up from Legendary.
Legendary's approach wasn't bad, honestly.
Godzilla will likely have just as little screentime, Because how most godzilla films worked.
Watch SymphogearI was mostly joking.
But looking back, the problem with the legendary film wasn't really the lack of Godzilla, but that the human cast was so dull and uninteresting that you find yourself begging for the scenes he's actually in to get here already.
Same with the original movies, to be fair.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?Yeah, the tail is weird mostly because it's more animated than the rest of him. It's as though it has a mind of its own, kind of like a snake ready to strike. That tilt up shot of his upper body was pretty awesome, though.
Coolest thing to come out of this Evangelion/Godzilla mashup merch campaign yet: A limited edition EVA repaint of Kiryu/Mechagodzilla 3 if you preorder tickets at Japanese 7/11s.

if i had like an excess amount of money to spend i'd probably buy it
Updates on Legendary Godzilla sequel
Summary:
- Director Gareth Edwards is out, with the split reported as being mutually amiable.
- Movie's release date pushed back from June 2018 to March 2019, with Godzilla vs Kong pushed back to May 29, 2019.
They're putting them out that soon? Geez.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?[page topper] Mechagodzilla was the first Jaeger!
X7 Well to be fair, the stuff most people are looking for in kaiju films are, well, the kaiju. The human cast is secondary to the giant monster people wanted to see, hence less effort is put into making the human characters interesting or likeable.

OK, important news that I didn't even know happened until just now: http://www.tohokingdom.com/news/2016/05-19_return_of_godzilla_dvd_blu-ray.html
The Return of Godzilla, the first Heisei film in the series, is getting a DVD and Blu-Ray release from the people behind the recent releases of Godzilla vs. Gigan, Godzilla vs. Hedorah, and Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster.
Before you ask, this is not gonna include the Godzilla 1985 cut with Raymond Burr as his character from the American cut of the original Godzilla.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell? Why are Gojira-san's arms stuck in some weird bent position with his palms facing upwards?

^^I am very excited about that. Return Of Godzilla has always been one of my favorite movies in the series. And despite the 1985 dub having some charm to it, I'm glad it's not gonna be on the DVD/Blu Ray. For one thing I think that dub and the legal issues with it are why it took so long for that movie to be on DVD to begin with. 2ndly, a lot of the changes made to the film were awful except for stuff like the shorter Sea Lice scene, not least of which being the fact that they cut out a cool and menacing scene so we could get the dumb comic relief drinking Doctor Pepper. Really the late Raymond Burr's performance is the only thing the dub has going for it.
I am a little dissapointed that there's no special features like an audio commentary from one of those Godzilla Historians though. Those guys are really informative and I feel like that film could use something like that considering the history surrounding it. But in the end I'm just glad that it's finally getting a North American release in general.

I've never even seen it. I've seen all the others, but not this one.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?
Just convince the suits that if they greenlight both of them, then they can do a Godzilla/Pacific Rim crossover.
I didn't write any of that.
