Coverup vs. Cover-Up vs. Cover Up

Searching for the noun "cover up" it appears there are three different spelling versions flying around:

  • Coverup
  • Cover Up
  • Cover-Up

Can we agree on one version and fix the custom wiki names accordingly?

"Coverup" and "cover up" are exactly the same as far as wikicode is concerned and what you see is dependent on how it's linked. "Coverup" is kind of wrong, though, and should probably be changed if you see it

That aside, I have no real opinion on this

>>"Coverup" and "cover up" are exactly the same

not for things like Fiery Cover-Up, the displayed format depends on what the custom wiki is set to.

Fiery Cover-Up, Fiery Cover Up, Fie RY Co V Eru P, and F Ier Ycov ERUP are the same wiki article. The difference is in the CamelCase of the wick. That is how the wiki software works; there is no bug, no error, nothing wrong.

Fiction As Coverup has "Fiction as Cover-Up" on its own page, but the wikiword is as written first.

It has a custom title. Sometimes it gets a bit buggy and doesn't show up in wicks. To fix that, re-submit the custom title.

I think the OP's point is that all three of these (or at least two of them) are used as custom titles, to say nothing of those that don't have custom titles, and he wants them all to use the same spelling in their custom title.

I thought coverup is makeup, "cover-up" is what you do when you've done something illegal, and "cover up" is literally covering something up.

There is a bit of a difference between using it as a noun or a verb. You cover up a crime with a cover-up. But for most trope uses cover-up is probably better.

If you needed to hide an assault you might cover up the crime with a cover-up involving using coverup to cover up the wounds.
