[up] (11) Well I won't say you're wrong about comparing it to Donnie Darko, but I can't bring myself to agree with the last sentence either. To each their own.

[up] The trailer kind of missed the mark for me. I've listened to All I Wanted and rewatched that scene so many times that hearing it in the trailer was a dull experience.

The one from the second trailer though, A Hole In The Earth, it's got my attention. I've really got to look up what genre of music this is, find out what instruments are involved, and then purchase and master all of them.

For those who haven't heard: There's now a mobile version of Season 1 available.

Basically the same game, but there's a "photo mode" which lets you screenshot with various filters.

5 days until Before the Storm is finished.

I'm honestly saddened there's only 3 episodes despite initial reservations.

They could have done a full 5 with two Max episodes.

Apparently it's out, somewhere. I just plugged my PS 4 back in and the update started right away - 2.6 GB. Yeah, that seems a little big for updating the episode selection screen.

Unfortunately, I have to work in the morning. So I'ma let it download and install over night and probably start the first few minutes when I wake up, then bail.

Reviews and Youtube playthroughs are up because of course they are. Damn you Rad Brad and MK Ice and Fire.

Also, shi-shi-sha.

God that was such an amazing episode

The post credits scene was so fucking mean though like damn what a way stab me in my completely exposed heart.

Does anyone know how to get those two characters the final mini choice mentions to meet?

Also you can hear firefighters mentioning that the fire just extinguished itself, nothing the firefighters did help, it just randomly happens, so I'm still on the Rachel has powers train

For some reason, I can't download episode 3 (it's not even showing up in the store). WTF sad

EDIT: Never mind, managed to fix it by going to my PS 4 library and downloading manually.

Game complete!

Why did they have to put that stinger in at the end!? sad

Also: There's a way to get Sera to meet Rachel?

Honestly, I think they could have done another game between.

Possibly, but that might undermine Chloe was supposed to have spent the next few years being happy with Rachel.

It's sort of like The Hobbit but in reverse; Bilbo wasn't the protagonist of LOTR because Tolkien didn't want to contradict the final "And he lived happily to the end of his days." line.

I mean, Chloe and Rachel hanging out and having fun with no conflict is nice and all, but it's not really a compelling story.

Got Before the Storm in the Steam sale, though haven't started it yet. Seemed like a good time for it, since the third episode just came out. There's just one more, right? A Max episode?

Yeah, it's a bonus episode that will only be available with the Deluxe edition, it's basically a stand-alone prequel to the prequel set on the day Max leaves, and it has the original VAs for Chloe and Max returning.

So the three episodes that are out now are basically the full story.

I think they really needed an extra episode.

Frankly, I think they should have done four episodes of Chloe and one episode of Max in Seattle.

I added a "Fridge Logic" page too.

[up]x3 I was drafting one up in the sandbox namespace. That saves me a lot of time!

Guess I'll just merge what I already had in.

I had some severe computer issues, so I wasn't able to play it at launch, but I've beaten it now.

I've said it before, but this has no right to be so damn good.

  • I really liked the artsy way they showed James and Sera's backstory.
  • Hella yes, Chloe with the (almost) correct hair.
  • I went with the skull costume.
  • I accepted David's peace offering.
  • Why does Chloe like that junkyard so much? Every time she visits it, something terrible happens.
  • Yay. another D&D scene. I think that Steph at el were great characters for the amount of screentime they get.
  • Aww, Sean Prescott paid for Mikey's medical bills I guess he's not so bad. nm, he's being an ableist shit again.
  • I framed the guy who punched Chloe back in Episode 1 as the mole.
  • God, I knew that Eliot was going to turn out to be the stalker we all thought Warren was, but that was really creepy. BTW, I've heard that Chloe's plan of calling 911 and dropping hints that she was in danger in ordinary conversation actually does work.
  • Not sure how I feel about the implication that Frank is capable of murder.
  • I failed to persuade Sera to meet Rachel. Apparently it's glitched?
  • I told Rachel the truth. It was both heartbreaking to see her reaction and very satisfying to see James utterly ruined.
  • Good on Samantha for realizing that Nathan is a shit.
  • Aww, what a touching ending montage. This is really swee— FUCK YOU JEFFERSON!!!!

That about Frank makes sense to me S1 implies he has a temper, but didn't actually want to hurt Chloe (or Max).

I worry Samantha is one of Jefferson's victims. She is, after all, the innocent and sweet kind of girl which Jefferson liked to abuse.

As for Frank being a murderer, it was in self defense.

Here's my review of BEFORE THE STORM

http://unitedfederationofcharles.blogspot.com/2017/12/life-is-strange-before-storm-review.html

7/10

Good but could have been great.

It's kind of strange but all the elements which had been weighing the story down like the absence of a mystery and the supernatural elements take center stage in Episode 3 but then the game is over when I think they could have been stretched out for another 2 episodes. This really should have been a 5 parter with the fallout from episode 3 explored fully.

I wonder if the supernatural elements were really absent. Chloe's dreams had a certain quality to them I can't name that makes me think they were more than just dreams, but I acknowledge that they could just be dreams. But then her father's 'ghost' (for want of a better word) appears to her while she's awake in episode 3, but it's probably just Chloe consciously imagining the conversation in her head.

And then there's Sera escaping from the chair and knowing Chloe's name. I, the player, wanted to know how she knew (admittedly, I might not have realised she shouldn't have known had the game not given me the option to ask), but I didn't ask, because I felt Chloe would want to know about Frank. Anyway, they seemed to try and cast Sera's 'escape' and knowledge of Chloe's name in a supernatural light, but it's very possible that Frank simply let her go and told her Chloe's name.

A problem with explicitly involving supernatural elements in this case is that Chloe, if she knew supernatural forces were at work, would have been primed for it in the first game, and would have been less shocked at Max's powers. I feel that's a example of a problem this game has in general, and that prequels have in general. They were trying to do things like show that David was genuinely trying to reach out to Chloe, even if he didn't really know how, and I think maybe they wanted David and Chloe to actually connect, but of course we know that they don't reach any kind of reconciliation by the events of the first game. I like that we see the seeds of Nathan's, uh, mental health problems being sown though.

In the Fridge Logic section I said it's very likely if Chloe did connect to David and come to a "not really liking the guy but tolerating his presence" attitude, it probably came tumbling down when Rachel disappeared, causing all of Chloe's wounds to reopen and he became paranoid there was a murderer possibly loose at the school.

Yeah, I'd say it retcons it from "never, ever, ever got along" to "had a strained relationship which is deteriorating because of what's going on".
