Eh. I'd argue if a song matters to you that much, it won't just lose that significance. If it does, it probably didn't have as much "power" as you thought it did in the first place.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here. There are some sad songs that I think are amazing but don't listen to very often because I don't want to feel sad too often.
There are a few songs or musical pieces that I don't care to listen to if I can't be attentive and prepared—they're not background music for work, and they're too important to me to engage with at a similarly shallow level. That's not exactly the same thing as you're describing, but it is a case of consciously limiting when one plays it.
"She was the kind of dame they write similes about." —Pterodactyl Jones"Child in Time" by Deep Purple and "I'm Your Captain (Closer to Home)" by Grand Funk Railroad. Also, it's because they're long, and I've got it in my head that I have to listen to them together.

Hey.I forget the name of it, but the full version of the song that's the opening theme of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex is absolutely lovely and gives me chills every time I hear it, and I have almost stopped listening to it so I don't ever lose that.
That would be Inner Universe, and it's not the only song from Git S:SAC to have that effect - I Do, played in the final episode of the series (end of 2nd Gig), touches me in an almost religious nature whenever I listen to it. A lot of Yoko Kanno's music is powerful like that.

PSN ID: FateSeraph Congratulations! She/They"Celluloid Heroes" by The Kinks. I might still like it (it's a great song), but it would probably lose its impact if I listened to it too much.
Hey.I learned at a young age that playing a song too much would have me getting sick of it. So I instated a personal rule that I would never listen to a song/album more than once a week to keep it fresh.
Confirmed Bachelors: the dramedy hit of 1883!
Don\'t want to listen to it too much since it would lose some of its emotional \"power\" if you listened to it too much?
