So here we talk about moments in gaming that made us want to toss the controller, epic video game fails, or doing something incredibly stupid that OHKO\'d your party.

Controller Tosser from Me: I was playing Smash Run on SSB 3 DS the other day. I was playing as Bowser, and this time, it seemed to be a particularly brutal run (I got KO\'d more than once) with many notable Demonic Spiders in it. I was also in kind of a bad mood at the time. Fortunately, the Final Battle was a \"Run!\" which is one of my favorite Final Battles...but one of the opponents was Sonic The Hedgehog with a nearly maxed out Speed stat.

The match started, and fortunately, Sonic was acting incredibly klutzy (running into multiple hazards) I quickly pulled ahead of all of them, and, as I reached that final stretch, I noticed that Sonic was still only a little over half-way through the course. I was confident that I would win at this point, so I kept going. Literally right as I reached the finish line, Sonic suddenly shot up out of nowhere and crossed and instant before I did. I am not even kidding! I usually stay calm when playing games, but, coupled with my aforementioned bad mood, I came awfully close to tossing my 2DS across the room.

I died to a random encounter in Rhapsody A Musical Adventure, widely considered one of the easiest RP Gs ever made. And this was on a replay.

I beat the entirety of Donkey Kong '94... except for the final boss. No matter how hard I tried, i couldn't do it, so my friend, who had been watching me play through the whole game, had to beat him for me.

I died in the tutorial of Project X Zone.

My one experience with a Game Shark was with Wario Land II. I gave Wario infinite coins... forgetting that coins were tallied up at the end of a level. I let the GBC run til the batteries died.

The Protomen enhanced my life.

Ugh, there are SOOO many fail moments for me that I can't keep track of all of them.

Yesterday, in Super Smash Bros. 4, I lost the Master Orders mini-game because I summoned Skull Kid as an Assist Trophy and forgot about the inverted controls, so I exploded as a result.

When I was a kid, I had to have my sister do Chapter 3 of Paper Mario 64 because I was scared of Forever Forest and Tubba Blubba.

I'll be adding more as I think about them, but I'm playing Xenoblade Chronicles right now so I'll just say my worst moments so far have all come from fighting Lizard Folk.

First there was the optional boss "Reckless Godwin" who killed me over a dozen times.

Then, after a pitched battle with Kromar to save some engineer I finally gained the advantage... And then fell off a cliff trying to reposition myself.

LOL OP. I can imagine sonic yelling YOU'RE TOO SLOW!!! right as he did it :P

in Dragons Dogma I had been fighting Girgori on hard mode in fighter class, which is one of the harder classes to beat him with. This was about the 4th or 5th attempt, and I had spent at least 20 minutes chipping him down little by little since his fire breath would one-shot me. I finally emptied out his life bar, but he won't die unless you deliver the final hit on his heart. Okay so after baiting him into a fire breath and getting behind to run under and strike his heart which would end it, he suddenly decides to turnaround in my direction and instakills me with a fire breath. Thing is I didn't mistime, he broke out his recovery animation just to screw me over despite not doing it at any other time during the match. It was such BS that I literally flopped on the ground with my head face down on the carpet for like an entire minute.

Also, in pokemon battle facilities, critical hits.

SSB 4: Losing like a damn idiot because I accidentally used Zero Suit Samus's aerial down-A and plummeted off the freaking stage.

Pretty much every moment in Devil Survivor has been this to me. The combat is classic Atlus. Nothing is explained, everything is way harder than it needs to be, there are penis monsters...

But the story is so good!

Anytime I've gotten lost in a dungeon and couldn't find my way around but it was actually really really easy and I just missed an obvious thing. Like escaping the Desert Palace in Final Fantasy 9 or finding my way around the Prison in Legend of Dragoon.

So I was trying to go through Eliwood Hard Mode in Fire Emblem The Blazing Blade, Chapter 18x. Already it was proving a pain in the ass, thanks to the ton of buffed knights swarming my outnumbered dudes. But I had one main goal. Get the Silver Card, held onto by the stage boss. Of course Kishuna arrived to nullify him so he really wasn't a threat. So I got one really good run, and took the Silver Card, and with a bunch of awesome Level Ups to boot! Aion was at my mercy! So I decided to get even more EXP by beating up Kishuna and his cronies before I finished him off! My guys attacked him, and were ready to finish the job on Aion next turn!

Those who have played the game have already realised what was about to happen.

After Matthew took a fatal Bolting to the face, I spent the next minute violently swearing at myself. Oh sure. I could have left him for dead, since a better thief joined next chapter... If Matthew wasn't holding the Silver Card. By the time I beat the chapter, I could never get as good growths.

A corpse should be left well enough alone...

This seems to happen to me with lots of ST Gs.

I'm doing so well and then I make a mistake, and start all over because I'm too afraid I wouldn't be able to 1cc it without enough ships or things.

Why were you born in such a cruel, violent world?

Played through a fair bit of Mario And Luigi Superstar Saga, then put it down for a while to play something else. When I finally came back to it, I forgot exactly what I had to do to progress the plot and couldn't find anywhere any meaningful hints on what to do next, so I basically rendered the game unable to be completed by way of not at all remembering where the hell I was in it.

Insert witty 'n clever quip here.

- Red Dead Redemption : so I arrive in Armadillo, and then comes a posse of the local gang lynching some guy. Being a good samaritan, having a full Dead Eye gauge, and having already dealt with them before, I decide to help by gunning down the desperados. I end up completely botching up the following Dead Eye shots and the gang turns me into swiss cheese afterwards.

- Skyrim : so I was minding my own business when Thalmor assassins show up. I manage after a tough fight to kill them, I taunt them, I turn around... And immediately falls off a cliff to my death.

- Generally, whenever there is a way to buff your character during a combat (be it by ways of potions or spells), I never, ever use it, frequently leading me to stupid game overs. For example, still while playing Skyrim, I got killed at least three times by Queen Potema's lightning spells. If only I had electrical immunity potions in my backpack... Oh wait, I did.

I remember playing a pokemon wifi battle with my friend. I wanted to use a full restore. Instead I used a full heal.

I was playing Super Smash Bros 3DS and I was playing with my Casca mii. I kept forgetting her side-b sword spin rendered her unmovable while in air. Cue several instances where I flung myself off stage.

Even my MOM has had these types of moments.

She is a big Plants vs. Zombies buff and recently, in Pv Z 2, had many boosted plants one day, and enough gems to get the Hurrikale. One day, we were baby-sitting some kids and she let one of the kids play on her tablet. Later, after the kids left, she turned Pv Z 2 on, and to her shock, she now only had one gem left and her Zen Garden was almost completely empty and was almost out of sprouts. The kid had pulled the game up, didn't understand what to do, went in the Zen Garden, and blew all of the gems on speeding up their growth process, dug them up, planted them again, wash rinse, and repeat until there weren't enough gems left.

Needless to say, she created a new save file just for any kids that wanted to play.

Super Mario 64, Course 15 (I think it's called Rainbow Ride?). I had caused Mario to fall off a platform and go plummeting to his doom. Luckily, I spotted a magic carpet moving underneath me.

But then I thought, Mario's gonna take a lot of damage when he hits it. So, I quickly did a ground pound (the animation of which pauses Mario in midair briefly, slowing his descent).

Turns out the carpet was moving faster than I had thought, and the delay from the ground pound caused me to miss it completely.

I couldn't help but laugh at my own stupidity.

Some time ago, I was playing 007: Quantum Of Solace on the Play Station 3.

I was playing the Montenegro Train mission. During the beginning, I finally got outside to the top of the second train, I saw a third train and I thought I had to jump on there too. The result was that when Bond landed on the third train, he died instantly. I laughed it off pretty well.

Go make up a fan-theory for why I'm here, yet not.

I just (fairly recently) was playing Smash Run again on Smash 3 DS and this happened:

I got to the Final Battle, which was a Team Match Explosion Smash on Rainbow Road. I (Dr. Mario) was teamed up with a Pikachu. (I can't remember who the opponents were...but I think it was Shulk and Dark Pit.) We already weren't doing so well. We were a KO behind, my Pikachu ally seemed to be goofing off, but the other two had high damage and I was trying to get them. A short time later, a Party Ball popped up and dropped a bunch of Hocotate Bombs. I quickly went over to grab one to toss at Shulk or Dark Pit...then suddenly Pikachu decides to be "useful", came running over and zapped one of the little ships, exploding all three of them...while I was also over there among them and our two opponents on the opposite end of the stage. We both rocketed away, I started yelling in frustration, and the Blue Team won the match...it is kinda funny in hindsight, but I wasn't laughing at the time.

Here's a "wtf even happened?" sort of fail:

Playing Super Smash Bros Melee with a couple of friends some years back. I was Kirby, and one of the opposing players was Ice Climbers. I grabbed Nana and used Kirby's up-throw. At the same time, my teammate KO'd Popo. Partway through rocketing into the stratosphere, Nana dematerialized out of my grasp. This canceled the throw halfway through, leaving Kirby so far above the stage that it took multiple Stone uses to descend back into the action.

The first flying mission in GTAV. I really shouldn't have done as badly as a I did but I died an upwards of 20 times trying to land the plane. My roommate at the time (who rushed out and got it for his 360) beat it on the first time.

Didn't happen to me, but to a guy on another forum I was a member of :

He had been playing Final Fantasy X 2 and completed it to 100 %, and said he kinda liked it. There was one thing that really grated his nerves, though, and it was the long cutscenes that play every time one of the characters changed her dress/job. He really hated that, as it was to his eyes unnecessarily lengthening the already numerous battles, especially as switching dresses/jobs was essential for battles.

And then someone just came by and said "you do know there's an option for turning those cutscenes off, right ?"

Cue typed Big "WHAT?!".

I was playing Alien: Isolation on my Xbox One.

I'm somewhere in the medical facility and I haven't seen the xenomorph for a while, so I get a little cocky. Without checking the motion tracker, I open a door and the xenomorph is right on the other side. I start running with the xenomorph giving chase, when the hallway explodes right in front of me. I turn around to see the xenomorph catch up to me and kill me.

Yeah and, for whatever reason, Rockstar decided to offer the flying tutorials after the first mission where you have to fly a plane.
