It looks like the woman has just ran into the sign. It doesn't show her actually making a decision, let alone the dumb decision.

I made the below image, which should be much clearer:

I don't know, Scary Movie does the same thing right after the current screen. Maybe just attach a second image the movie?

The source of the current image Scary Movie had her do the same thing, a second image of her running right would work better than the image in the OP IMO.

She is looking in the "dumb" direction. Current is better IMO.

To me, it looks like she's looking in the "safety" direction - the hair on her left side is illuminated and the only light I see is ahead of her, which makes me think she's looking right. As well as the position of the hair vis-a-vis the shoulders.

Whew, I can't think that I am arguing about an image like this...

The fact she's considering at all makes it a viable example anyway. I'd prefer one of her going towards death, but I'd say I prefer current to the suggestion.

Suggestion is boring. Keep Until Better Image Suggested.

Keep the current. It's a classic.

The purpose of the image is to make its meaning clear, even to those who do not know the context.

The current image shows an woman directly in the middle of 2 signs. As Septimus Heap has pointed out in Post 7, it's unclear which way the woman is going/looking.

While Memers' idea would work, I'll have to find a good image of the corresponding scene, and I'm not sure why the suggestion doesn't work apart from 'it's boring' and 'current is classic'.

I say keep it. The mere implication that she's thinking this through makes it work, and the suggestion is too boringly blunt.

"Yeah, it's a shame. Here we are in an underground cave with all these lasers, and instead of having a rave we're using it for evil."

How do I tell she's thinking? How do I make that logic? She could've just ran into the area for all I know.

Why does 'boring' make it worse when it demostrates the trope?

Images need to be illustrative and funny. How well each image fits each criterium is up to the people participating in these discussions. A boring image is not a good thing.

Clarity is not the only consideration. Looking good is one image equivalent of "witty". Current is much more witty.

Clear, concise, and witty.

For my part, I still like the one that's currently on Image Links.

Rhymes with "Protracted."

[up] Ugly. If you could get it as an animated gif, it would look okay, but as two panels it's worse than the single image.

Rhymes with "Protracted."

I like 19.

Current image doesn't work at all for me. It only shows her standing in front of two signs without choosing any dumb decisions. For all I know she could have just arrived there.

All I see from the current is a girl who's still in motion, in the middle of the process of coming to a stop before the signs, before looking at both of them and coming to a decision on which to go.

the suggested is far more Concise and Clear. Remember, Clear, Concise, Witty. 2 of the 3 is preferred for images.

How is two frames more concise than one? Ugly, and ham-fisted, two+ frame sequences tend to insult reader intelligence. Strongly prefer current.

Yep, 19 is worse than the current or the arrow image.
