Pretty visuals do not make a good film. But it's Shakespeare-inspired, so I'm somewhat obligated to give it a chance. I remember reading that this was gonna be a thing, but I didn't it would happen so soon. I'm surprised they waited until this close to the release date to announce it. Hopefully we'll get a trailer soon.

Aw dang!
I got 'd by minutes!
Hoo boy…
Who thought that a Shakespeare-inspired story needed this? I'll still probably give it a shot, it can only impress me.
This song needs more love.He isn't directing it. He wrote the story and is the Executive Producer. Seems George has thrown his lot in with Disney more than we thought, if he's doing non-Star Wars stuff for them. This should be fun to see.
So…what should we do about the fact that there are two threads for one movie?
Since this came first by minutes, I guess I'll allow mine to be locked or whatever and let this one remain.
But how about we rename this one "Strange Magic - new Disney movie from George Lucas" since "New Disney A Midsummer Night's Dream Animated Movie, by George Lucas" sounds rather too long?
I guess that debunks the "Strange Magic is Frozen 2" rumors.
That is a very odd combination there but I'm sure it'll be decent at least.
It's been 3000 years…Can we please change the name of this thread to the actual movie title?
I guess Lucas changed his mind about retiring. Should be interesting.
Oh wow the concept is cool and designs look great!
"Written by George Lucas....."
Well shit. and this could have been good.....
Yeah, George Lucas has never written anything great, ever.
Changed thread title as requested.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanWell, I guess I could give this a shot. I just hope we get a trailer soon.
By the way, about that screencap, I'm not gonna lie, that tree…guy…thing looks like he could be Groot's older, wiser brother or something.
It's not a "Disney movie", but rather, produced by Lucasfilm Animation and ILM. They actually started development several years ago on this project, with Brenda Chapman having been attached at some point, but then she left the project when the buyout occured.
Well we still make distinction between Disney and Pixar.
Also worth mentioning, Lucas is not writing the screenplay. He's responsible for the story.

The distinction is important. Just like there is a difference between Disney Animation, Pixar and Toon Studio movies. There have been a couple of animated movies which have been produced under the Disney label, but were not made by either of those entities. The brave little toaster aso. And, even though most people are not aware of it, the animation for Who framed Roger Rabbit and Enchanted was outsourced.
Yeah, but most people still also call Pixar movies Disney movies
this.
George Lucas may not be that great of a writer, but if he is only supplying the story, I don't know, this might be good. It sounds like such an odd concept, though...
It seems to me like this is something Jim Henson could've made in the 70s/80s, except in CG. I dunno, it's just giving off the vibe of that kind of movie.

Looking for some stories?Yeah, I kinda had that Jim Henson-esque vibe too. Even though I've never seen stuff like The Dark Crystal.
I'm tentative on this. George Lucas didn't write the script for Red Tails either, but it still ended up sounding like the stream of cliches as if he had.

No, really.
I didn't see any threads on it, so...
