The lunar cycle would make sense, especially if the setting uses months that match it better than do ours; I'm inclined to like the full and new moons as markers, perhaps as "bright" and "dark".

I have a theme naming thing going on in my Na No story, and I need two more things that happen at opposite ends of a monthly cycle. Like 'night' and 'day', or 'wet' and 'dry'. (I've already got things for a daily and weekly cycle, but now I need something that takes longer.)
Any ideas?
