Opened.
Already fixed the title, by the way.
The coloured version is extremely blurry. And even if improved, it will need a caption (maybe the quote cited in the OP?).
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanDon't really get the suggestion.
Check out my fanfiction!...not following on the suggestion.
"Polite life will fill you full of cancer." - Iggy Pop "I've seen the future, brother, it is murder." -Leonard CohenI think that very same image was suggested in the previous discussion thread, which clocked out. My opinion regarding that image have not changed, so .
Proposed caption: "One who does not know pain cannot possibly understand true peace. And now this world shall know pain!"
I can't seem to find a better quality shot of the coloured version, so I guess I would suggest the manga version, but if that doesn't work, other pictures I would propose that capture the trope include this shot of him being presented as a shadowy being cloaked in divine light◊ and this shot of him trying to have a philosophical conversation with someone who he has just stabbed through the hands.◊
I see now that the original picture was indeed suggested before. How do you guys feel about the new ones?
Let's tip the scales. No, it just does not work.
I cant think of any image that works really.
Upon re-reading the description, I think I'll actually support the suggestion now. Certainly looks like a saviour to me, and a caption can help with the "dark/evil" aspect.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanAfter reading the trope I'd say Pain fits this trope to a "T".
I'd prefer the OP or 7.1. The OP looks ambigous enough that he could be causing or saving the destruction and 7.1 has a very "Messiah". I wouldn't mind seeing some other screenshots though.
And that caption would work great no matter what we choose.
11.1 is good.
^^Eh, their appearance is not so messianic.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanV for vendetta
New theme music also a box^^ Neither is the one in the OP suggestion, really.
Gonna say, Light◊ from Death Note
Nope. These two characters look like they are giving orders (reinforced by the people who are turning away), the OP character is more reaching out.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard Feynman7.1 seems the most messianic to me out of the ones suggested so far.
Not right away, not right awayI like the Dark Apostle...not really keen on the others.
For those who are not satisfied, can we talk more about why? It would be nice to get a dialogue going. I honestly put a lot of effort into finding pictures that felt applicable to me even without knowing the work and I'd like to know more of your thoughts.

Let's tip the scales.Because nothing in the Naruto suggestions illustrates "messianic" for me. In the OP image, it's just a floating dude destroying a city and overlaps way too much with Omnicidal Maniac. 7.2. is just two people fighting each other and one of them is losing. 7.1. might work, but I don't like how grainy it appears.
Also, since this page has already gone through three IP discussions without going anywhere, can we just crowner it and let it get done quickly?
19 has a religious feel too, with the Sistine Steal thing. Though it is flipped.
Not right away, not right awayCrowner hooked.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThank you for the feedback, The Adept Rogue.
Let's tip the scales.
Crown Description:
Nominations for replacement images:
Noted the absence of an image for Dark Messiah and I would like to nominate Pain from Naruto. His iconic scene of floating above the Hidden Leaf Village preaching that the world must know pain before proceeding to destroy the village encapsulates the trope quite nicely for me.
Manga version.◊
Alternatively, in colour.◊
Thoughts?
Edit: I realized too late that "needs help" should be swapped with "suggestion" and now I can't seem to change that part.
