Suggesting Rosalina from Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.

Looking back to that old thread, I don't think anyone actually disputed against that OP image, but then people kept on piling suggestions upon suggestions and things eventually got derailed.

I'll say it again: That's a good picture that works even better with the aid of a caption. It's clear who's leading who there, and you can't argue "that might be a proyectile" given the positioning of the characters.

That is the worst picture I have ever seen in my life. The puppet fighter herself is barely even in the shot, and the puppet looks like a power-up.

Then you must not have seen too many of the other pictures on this sight. I'll give it that Rosalina is too out of focus, as well as cropped, and I'll say this for the hundredth time: DON'T SAVE AS JPEGS! But still, the concept is solid. The execution is flawed. Can you get another screenshot?

Since they're not connected in any way, I don't see how this image is distinguishable from two separate characters on the screen at once. Sure, she's waving her hand, but how do we know she's not charging up a spell of her own or whatever? I think the execution and concept are both flawed.

Actually, apparently I posted in the other thread and said something similar. I don't think it's possible to show this without strings or something, because the "connection" between them is only felt by the person holding the controller, or perhaps synchronized animations. Neither of which can be portrayed in a still image.

Seriously though, that picture is just terrible in every way.

I disagree. Her arms are in a conductor pose, and the magic is the same color as the aura around the star. Her pose reminds me of "The Sorcerer's Apprentice." It's very clear that she is controlling the star, or it would be if there was a better crop showing her arms more clearly. I'm not saying that the image is adequate, but it's not without merit.

Er... her magic sparkles are green and the star's aura is yellow. Perhaps the poor image quality caused you to miss these details?

Edit: Looking closer, there seems to be some green near the star but it's probably the sky in the background, which is also greenish (yellow + blue = green). Or if it's not, that just makes the picture even worse. I'm not familiar with the game though, so maybe another angle would make that more clear.

The conductor motion does not inherently indicate what is being conducted. It looks equally likely to me that she's summoning a meteor from off the top of the screen. The star's motion does not sync with hers at all.

It would be difficult to get a different screenshot, because that game isn't released yet. The portable version is out, but the quality would be even worse.

I think it's clear enough, especially with the caption. Although I suppose it's not a perfect lilustration, I think you're exaggerating its "terrible-ness". Especially since it's way better than most of the suggestions in the previous thread.

May I ask how the OP screenshot was obtained?

Presumably one of Nintendo's image dumps on the press site (was gonna suggest her character page, but that's not one of the images there). A higher-res mirror can be found here◊.

That's more like it. Sizing may still be an issue, as there's a lot of extra width in the center, but I may be able to move her in closer, allowing me to not have to downsize it so much.
