Sorry if I'm bothering anyone, but I'd just like a few tips on how to deal with criticism of my writing....

Try to incorporate the criticism into your future writing when possible.

Determine whether the review in question in actually criticism or not. Things like "Ur dumb, and U should fill bad 4 posting this shit" are not criticism. They are complaining. Things like "I believe X is acting wildly out of character for the sake of allowing you to bash him/her/it" are criticism. If you get complaints, you should just ignore it. Even if the person has a legitimate complaint, if they can't voice any reasoning behind it, you really can't do much about it. On the other hand, if you get actual criticism, you should consider it, even if you don't agree with it. However, just because something is criticism doesn't mean it's right.

For example, say you're writing a Harry Potter fic, and you portray Draco Malfoy as a whiney bully. Someone could call you out on having Draco not acting like the suave, intelligent, attractive young man he is. This would be an example of criticism that is blatantly wrong. Draco Malfoy is often portrayed as how the theoretical reviewer described him in fan fiction. However, canonically, he is a whiney bully. If you get this kind of criticism, you can disregard it as well.

TLDR: Ignore complaints, consider criticism, but ultimately it's up to you to decide what to use and what to disregard.

[up][up] Thanks. Most of the stuff I've been getting is from this one person about how my cases are too easy to solve and not depressing enough.... (the thing I'm writing is an AU of SDR 2 where Komaeda doesn't have frototemporal dementia... even though 2 of the 3 cases they commented on are supposed to be really obvious....)

Wanting to please your readers is natural but the cold truth is that you can't please everyone. So take criticism with a grain of salt, incorporate it if you like or change things to rectify it but remember that at the end of the day it is your story, not theirs.
