Episode Beach!

- Idyllic cute friendship junk hoorah!

- Is that Togo's mom pushing Togo back there not saying a word??

- Yeah that definitely wasn't Togo's mom probably some random Taisha person or other random beach person.

- Shoot, those are not average middle schooler ta-tas.

- No, Togo's discussion idea is better.

- So what, Fu wants an adult to ask her out? That's messed up.

- Fu what is your issue.

- Virus of death.

- That's a lot of udon.

- They actually may have a while to prepare. Although it will probably happen during the culture festival. Fu's new fairy is cute. Will Togo have four now?

Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.

Where does Togo even get wheelchairs like that

"There are more constellations than the 12 in the Western Zodiac" and their target is presumably a World Tree? I'm guessing the next Vertex will be a snake based on Ophiuchus and Nidhogg. Plus if losing and regaining your powers gives you extra fairies, that's more evidence for Togo having fought as a hero in the past.

What's the twist. What's the twist. One thing I like about this show is that while I know it's going somewhere, I have no idea where it's going. The cast is strong enough that I almost wouldn't mind it being SOL the rest of the time. Karin is an excellent swimmer despite Fu's trickery. Togo makes an impressive sandcastle. Fu has her priorities straight. Yuna knows how to enjoy food. Togo knows exactly when to strike. Time for a cultural festival.

So each fairy equals the number of rounds you've been in. Togo had 3. Here previous losses would apparently be her legs and her memory in those cases, and now part of her hearing. She's not going to last much longer at this rate.

Episode 7. In which Togo grins.

She's talking to us, silly Togo.

Fancy beach wheelchair. I've actually seen those, although most tend to use separate floats rather than wheels like that.

Blue mouth.

Is it just me, or does Itsuki sound snarkier without sounding?

Someone has a little skill with sand. Someone has a lot more than she reasonably should.

Karin and little sis knows big sis more than big sis knows herself. And it's really funny how she inadvertently makes fun of herself.

Warning: Karin is not edible.

I like how Karin gets half-heartedly into posing for the camera.

Togo is strict mom.

You know, considering what they're eating, wanting a bowl more of rice isn't exactly being greedy. Not that I expect anyone here to get the reference, but, "Ta lax, det är dyrt—jag menar gott."

She really does look different with her hair down.

Not exactly the right series to talk relationships. But it's a mandatory topic when a bunch of young people sleep in the same room. And there's only one story among them that's been going around for a while.

I think I'd probably like Togo's topics. If I were Japanese.

I agree with Itsuki.

Togo grinning like that is all kinds of awesome. Didn't get far in her story, though. Well, it had the intended effect anyway.

She should take a picture of those two sleeping. It's cute.

That's an early ending. Well, got to leave room for the "twist".

Honestly, I thought this episode kind of implied none of them really care about relationships. Except Fuu, who cares about that one time in cheerleader camp...

Also, in today's episode of "ominous shit in the preview", one of the lines is "So many vertexes...!" or something like that. Considering that they fought seven Vertexes at once the last time, this really makes me wonder.

I agree with Itsuki.

Looking back, I think we can all agree with Itsuki on many things.

Fuu seemed eager to return to battle. That theory Diamite mentioned last page is sounding more convincing.

Episode 7:

  • Time for some summer fun!
  • Fuu's sure full of herself. And Itsuki's snark levels are quite high. Or is it my imagination?tongue
  • Karin needs more Sand Skill points to hope to stand on the same ground as Yuna and Togo.tongue
  • She may have no taste, but Yuna can deal with it just fine.
  • Togo's one strict mom.
  • Togo's malevolent grin. Yes. The dark is her territory. Hers to unleash scary stories on unprepared fools. Karin was totally prepared, though. Since she was out like a lamp.tongue Also, Togo and Chiya would love to share stories with each other.evil grin
  • Aww, Fuu's sticking to Karin like glue.smile
  • Yuna and Togo are stuck together too, of course.smile
  • Udon's the best way to end a vacation.tongue
  • Taisha called. Enemies be rollin' again. Here's a new familiar for you, Fuu. Meaning another shot at Mankai... ...Crap, they'll never get back what they lost, huh? And that theory I posted is becoming even more plausible...
  • Fuu's Evil Eye twitches. It hungers for battle!

[down]...I guess I should've potholed to Joking Mode after all.tongue

Pretty sure Itsuki speaks up more and is snarkier in writing. She's almost to Eu levels.

TROPING QUESTION WARNING! Prepare yourselves accordingly.

Togo really loves telling a scary story. But, is that enough to qualify her as a Nightmare Fetishist? It seems that to be one, one has to show their love for creepy stuff more than once. Or am I over-thinking this?

Episode 8 is here!

- Oh, I like Kasha!

- So the faeries are getting naughtier?

- Both Itsuki's are plant-types, nice.

- Poor Karen, worst magical girl.

- Just don't use mankai.

- Nice bridge? (I was wondering if something like this would ever happen.)

- Poor girl. Maybe ghost. Togo confirmed for ex-magical girl by the way.

- Won't die like ever, or just while they're fighting?

- So can they control whether they go mankai or not? Because seriously just don't go mankai. Well, easier said than done if you're fighting to save the entire world as well as your friends.

- Finally they explain why it's only young girls doing this! As well as Madoka did, at least.

- Not a ghost, but a god. Still a pretty terrible situation to be in.

- Better than Madoka in terms of drama. Poop really hits the fan and it's super sad and scary, but do they give in to despair? Heck no. Hero Club Tenants.

And here we go. So many bloody fairies. Mankai is the trigger that gets them new fairies. That makes sense. Sense of irony the Vertex have. That one looks real familiar. Here's someone new. She's one of the characters from the LN right? Because it looked like she knew Togo. Becoming a worshiped invalid doesn't seem like a good trade-off. Our heroes are obviously not happy about this. Itsuki is really screwed in particular. Yuna is showing signs of Madoka. Still not sure where this is going to go.

Taking the risk of reading too much into it, I think this series is pretty interesting in the perspective of a "response" to Madoka. We were all thinking about "who would die" and we missed the point. Remember that in Madoka Magica, we rarely see the characters be actual teenage girls? They go deep into the world of magical girls and leave their lives behind, this is part of the theme, along with the things of having new bodies and such. Well, in this series, on the other hand, we spend quite a lot of time with actual teenage girls having teenage girl problems that are frequently described as boring. But now, we are very shocked by the perspective that these girls have lost only part of themselves. They are very much part of the normal world still, so this has a lot more weight exactly because we have seen that they are pretty much normal girls.
