I like Ghostbusters 2, but it suffers from being more or less the same film as Ghostbusters 1 with some names changed around. The need to reset everything at the beginning doesn't help that feeling.
Traveling across different dimensions was a major aspect of the original treatment until Ivan Reitman suggested an origin story set entirely in New York because the original idea was way too ambitious and expensive. There were rumors for a long time that the original script for Ghostbusters 2 was reworked into Bill And Teds Bogus Journey, where the Ghostbusters have to hop dimensions, including a hell dimension that works off their worst fears. Bill Murray apparently signed on to G2 because he liked the new direction, but, in his words, the entire movie changed when he got on set into a retread. The core Ghostbusters premise, great cast and chemistry between them is what makes the movie at least watchable.
The video game is probably the closest we'll get to what they wanted to make of Ghostbusters 2 and the original Ghostbusters premise. Truth is, keeping them closer to blue-collar exterminators is really what makes the franchise so popular, so its hard to say how they would have fared making them explore other dimensions.

The Video Game was great. I really wish there could have been a sequel because had the best of Ghostbusters and none of the major issues really.
I'm a critical person but I'm a nice guy when you get to know me. Now, I should be writing.Ghostbusters II was brilliant. All you young whippersnappers who are saying it sucks didn't see it at the cinema when it came out and you can get off my damned lawn, you hear?
I just really want this movie to happen. This is my favorite franchise. I get Tetris Syndrome from it; I can't watch supernatural movies without obsessively classifying the supernatural elements within and formulating attack strategies.
I spent the better part of last night watching The Haunting with my household, then analyzing and strategizing the perfect way to zap and trap it.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Do we know what the general plot and idea of the movie is other then female team?
Who watches the watchmen?Apparently there already was a Ghostbusters 3: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2177538/?ref_=nv_sr_1
No wonder no one heard of it.
And I liked Ghostbusters 2. Seeing that Statue of Liberty walk through NYC controlled by a Nintendo controller was freaking hysterical.
Runtime: 5 min
Of course almost no one heard of it.
Red Letter Media made a series called Ghostbusted that got all the way to part 3...
Even if it passes the challenge, I'm not sure if that's a success or failure...
I'm a critical person but I'm a nice guy when you get to know me. Now, I should be writing.Make all of the ghosts male and have the 'Busters talk about work constantly. That could work.

Someone on the tweet suggested none of the Busters ever talking to each other directly, thus raising worry over who the real ghosts are...
Ah, I'm really looking forward to this. Haven't watched either of the original movies, just both animated series. I preferred the Darker and Edgier reboot, too, it had a whopass opening:
But the original animated series's OP and ED were tons of fun too. I mean that SWAGGER!
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. This might be the main cast. I'm alright with them.
Jesus, people. Just leave it be. Let it rest in peace.
It is entirely appropriate that it become a Franchise Zombie. That said, I wish they made a new cartoon like the nineties one.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.since they are already doing a spinoff why not make them sequels to the original but in different cities.
The Star Wars revival has people looking even harder at old Franchises to continue or reboot. Star Trek helped push that along, but Star Wars got more people revved up. This is probably only the start of what's to come with turning old 1-2 shot movies into massive coherent franchises. Oh, forgot about Marvel. That helped a lot too.

No. Make it stop. It's wrong.
It'll be like everything else: it'll produce some gems, some crap, eventually a Genre-Killer, and we'll move onto the next big thing.
But as far as things go for Hollywood, a trend towards Continuity Porn is a refreshing turn.
Why? I'm interested in how this all-women revival turns out, personally.
Its suffers a bit from sequalitis. It isn't great but in my opinion it isn't bad either. I found it enjoyable and entertaining.
