I really don't understand why people just assume all kids love toilet humor and cram it into kid's movies. It's really overdone by now. You can make a good kids or family movie without a bunch of potty humor. Just look at Paddington. It was a smash hit and it had hardly any jokes like that.

Come to think of it, could you even make a good family movie with toilet humor? I doubt it.

[up] Even Paddington wasn't exactly clean of this either. While what happened wasn't exactly the same thing, the bathroom scene was largely treading the same ground that type of humor is notorious for. There's also the scene at the end of the film where the antagonist Millicent is sentenced to community service at a petting zoo, and gets a truckload of animal dung dumped on her.

Granted, the rest of the movie was not like that at all (referring to the bathroom scene in particular here), and in the context of Paddington's character and situation, it isn't extremely out of place, but believe me when I say the first official trailer (which predominantly used that scene throughout the trailer) did not make a good first impression to those interested in the film.

Oh, this exists. Is Angry Birds even still a thing?

At least the animation looks pretty good.

The movie is supposed to revive its relevancy just before it can drop off completely.

New trailer showed up. This one showcases the birds a lot more:

I like how they reference how Hal (the green Boomerang bird) can be useless when you don't know how he works.

Bubble's voice seems deeper than I expected it to be.

It seems like a fun movie, but I get tired of the "everyone trusts the obvious bad people except one person", plot.

.... new trailer.

One of the minor characters has a relevation near the end that...... she can fart bombs. ... she can fart bombs. And apparently we're supposed to view this as her completed character arc. yeah not ever seeing this ever ever.

Also don't trust the RT score right now because it has excluded several of the positive reviews which can be seen through IMDB's external critic reviews.

That's still more positive reception than I was expecting this movie to get.

I mean, quite honestly, I was expecting reviews to average around 4.0 at the most. This is a pretty good sign if you ask me.

When I saw Civil War, the trailer for Angry Birds got the biggest reception of all the trailers. I'm thinkin' it'll do alright.

Well, this is an interesting case study. I was expecting the Ratchet & Clank movie to be received better than this one, but it seems my expectations were completely backwards. I wonder why that is? I mean, they're both animated video game movies.

The trailers, to me, advertised a similar type of humour (which, incidentally, I don't think fit the R&C universe at all, which is probably a big reason why it wasn't received so well, but that's a discussion for another thread). Is there simply "more" to the Angry Birds movie that I didn't catch from the trailers, or do you think there's another reason?

[up] Angry Birds has such a nonexistent story that there's nothing to really mess up. Ratchet has a story, mostly of the funny animal variety, but it's extended across numerous, fully acted games. We know the characters and how they're supposed to act. Angry Birds is for all intents and purposes a clean slate.

Man I called this one..

Best rated video game movie so far, even if it's by virtue of getting something like a 40% or a 50% This was exactly the outcome I predicted and if the RT stays the same it means I'm about to get me some cold hard cash from a bet.

[up][up] That's not exactly the reason Ratchet isn't doing well from what I hear though. From what Andre the Black Nerd said in his review, Ratchet & Clank's problem is it really only tries to appeal to it's fans. It doesn't offer much to the average movie viewer. So it ends up being kind of a mediocre movie outside it's intended audience.
