Obvious Second Choice is not thriving at all. Only a couple articles link to it, and only six examples are given. That's a really low rate for a page that's been around since 2011.

The examples don't seem to match up to each other, either. Some seem to be Poor Man's Substitute, others just seem random and unrelated.

It kind of looks like a supertrope of Poor Man's Substitute, with more than just actors, but it's not substantial enough to say more than that.

Wow, Poor Man's Substitute is labeled YMMV but it looks like trivia to me. They both look like trivia.

The name is also problematic. When I first saw it, I thought it was about a situation where a character is offered two choices, with one being clearly more advantageous and preferable than the other.

I agree it needs a name change. I don't have an exact idea, but what about something with "second hand" or " second class" in it?
