'Chemists'. Worlder, I don't know where you're from exactly, but there's an odd difference between the US and ...some countries where they sometimes speak some variation on the Queen's English. See, what we call a 'pharmacy', they call a 'chemist's', and I'm thinking something like that where it's a culturally different name for the same thing.
'Physicalists'? 'Matterists'? 'Chemicalists'? 'Reorganizers' (for a more Japanese feel)? 'Alche-Chefs' ('alkeshefs' phonetically)? Something where the name invokes reworking one substance into another.

Nah. More seriously...
Based on your examples of what they'd do (please provide more), I'd have to go with "Potion-maker" and "Apothecary."
I think Worlder is trying to say that "transmutation" is NOT part of this profession, and he wants to distinguish from Alchemists, who transmute, and these people, who (as I understand it) use something akin to "cooking" for magic-like effects.
And if that's the case, I'm not even sure "alchemy" is the term you're looking for in the first place. Alchemy is both an ancient version of Chemistry and a philosophy about change — both for the alchemists themselves and the elements they transmute.
Award-winning screenwriter. Directed some movies. Trying to earn a Creator page. I do feedback here.Apothecary is usually a popular title. They historically were the precursors to pharmacists, they made medication, distributed it to caregivers, and some also performed surgery or midwifery. Since they worked with chemicals so much, a healthy portion could also be considered chemists.
Stoned hippie without the stoned. Or the hippie. My AO3 Page, grab a chair and relax."Thaumaturgy" or "thaumaturgist" is another name for alchemy/alchemists. Technically it's got connotations of "magic," but literally it translates to "wonder-working/miracle-working."

Ok in a fantasy setting there are people who responsible for producing stuff ranging from hair growth potions to extremely long burning lamp oil.
It would be easy to call all of them alchemists but I probably want some more nuanced terms.
The problem is that alchemy is very strongly associated with transmutation. Most of the "alchemists" in my setting can't do that as it requires the use of magic.
