Perhaps a public execution would work in the OP's favour rather than a lynching? Say something along the lines of weakening the vampire and restraining him in the open and waiting for sunrise?

If you are squeamish please read no further.

If severe injury slows regeneration a mob can use it to possibly immobilize the vampire and make it easier to kill. There are two ways to do a hanging. One is the "short drop with a sudden stop". That is the method that snaps necks. The way it typically works is the victim is placed on a platform, stand, or other object that elevates them a few feet in the air. Then the support underneath them is suddenly removed and they drop. The weight of the body jerking suddenly on the rope breaks the neck killing the victim. Now this isn't fool proof as some victims are a bit to light to get a sufficient jerk to kill them at which point they instead suffocate from the rope.

The other method is just haul them up and hang them dangling. They suffocate usually slowly. Even when that method was used for executions it was sometimes considered an act of mercy for one or two people to grab the legs and jerk down hard a few times to break the neck.

You could do either method in a lynching depending on the situation of the lynching. Say you hang someone from a barn loft pulley arm for example. You give it enough rope that they drop a few feet with a jerk when pushed or kicked out of the window. You could also just haul them up by the pulley and jerk the legs to make it quicker via breaking the neck. Look around other pieces of fiction to see how various non-judicial hangings are portrayed.

Just lynch them on a tree, and let him dangle helplessly until sunrise disintegrates him. Effective psychological torture since, as long as he's bound, he can't do anything to prevent his death and must wait hours.

How I would do it?

If the vampire is male, my character would hang it in barbed wire right through bones and flesh and drag it under the front of the car (yes, the front, not the back), letting the families of his victims scream out their outrage and beat him with sticks. My character would encourage the mob,"he ate your sister/children/fill in the X". His former mortal friends and family would encouraged beat him and hurt him in front of the crowd, "you are not my brother, sibling anymore". If they don't I call them "vampires" and chain them too even if they die and thus prove me wrong. Then leave him in a container, my character would take a bag and empty the content, rats and crows and let them eat him one bit a time.

If the vampire is female, the same thing except bashing it for being a whore instead of homophobic excuses. My character would accuse the vampire that she deserves to die because I loved her and she betrayed me becouse she become a vampire. Basically accuse and humiliate it because its past human personality only to destroy and abuse-torture it with the excuse that it no longer is "he" or "she".

I feel like I should point out again that vampires are, usually, ALREADY DEAD AND NOT BREATHING. Thus lynching wouldn't actually do anything to them. If you're going with the traditional sort of vampire that way, then lynching is an ineffective way to fight to get rid of them.

Unless you're going with they're somehow differently alive then basically just use the methods already mentioned because that works on basically any living organism.

[up]That was.... kinda gross, dude.

Again hanging does not necessarily mean suffocation as I already explained. If the injuries slow them down using the breaking the neck methods described in the context of severe injury can weaken them or at least make them easier to handle hanging is not necessarily pointless.

Seconding the notion that description went too far.

If I wanted to lynch a vampire and wanted to be cruel about things, I'd stake his ass, nail him to a big old cross, let the townsfolk fill him with silver bullets, and then leave him for the sun.
