I'm not really familiar with the DC Comics version of Lucifer, but I will probably watch it because I plan to watch all the other series based on DC properties.
Batman Ninja more like Batman's Bizarre AdventureHuh? Okay leaving aside the fact that they have too many series going at once I'm surprised they're willing to do something like this. People are going to raise a fuss about them making a series starring the devil no matter how they portray him.
If these shows get off the ground, DC TV will have:
- A Green Arrow show
- A Flash show
- A Constantine show
- A Batman show set before there being a Batman
- A Supergirl show
- A Teen Titans show
- A Lucifer show
They must really want to compete with Agents Of SHIELD and those 4 Marvel Netflix shows.
I think the idea is that they can try and use some of these shows to introduce people to various elements of the DCU so when they make movies about these characters they already have a fanbase.
There's an embargo though, the tv shows and movies aren't crossing over. Setting them all in the same universe means the tv shows can't use any big villains.

Could someone explain this version to me? I'm confused. Wouldn't this be a better fit for Constantine?
Lucifer is the one from Neil Gaiman's "Dream of the Endless" books, otherwise known as "Sandman", unless I am very much mistaken.
here, have a wiki page:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucifer_(DC_Comics)#Sandman_continuity
If it's like this one:

then, with the best will in the world, they can keep it.

Thanks! I think it might be the New 52, anyway.
There is a pretty funny relationship between Lucifer and Hellblazer (Constantine's comic), actually. Spoilers for Sandman ahead:
In Issue 3 of Sandman, John Constantine helps Dream get his pouch of sand back. In issue 4, Dream goes to Hell to get his helmet from a demon, and in doing so he meets Lucifer and the other two Lords of Hell (there having been a civil war in the wake of the events of Alan Moore's Swamp Thing run, which ended with a triumvirate ruling Hell). Dream leaves, but in doing so deals an insult to Lucifer, who swears revenge.
Now a bit later on Garth Ennis, arguably the definitive Hellblazer writer (not my favourite but) wanted to use Lucifer and so on as enemies for John Constantine. The First of the Fallen is the ruler of Hell, along with two other demons in a triumvirate. As written he's a bit more petty and vindictive than Lucifer, but he's clearly supposed to be the same character (and could easily be the same character as Lucifer in his first appearance, just in different situations). About a third of the way through that Hellblazer story, though, Neil Gaiman has Lucifer get bored and quit Hell, beginning a chain of events that lead to a pair of Angels being put in charge of the place and the imprisonment of Azazel, one of the triumvirate; all of which leads Garth Ennis to include a page in Hellblazer explaining how the First of the Fallen is a totally different person to Lucifer, honest guv, and those Angels aren't really in charge of Hell, they just think they are, and and and... (there is no explanation given for what exactly is going on with Azazel).
So, yeah. Lucifer also had his own spinoff comic (set after he quite), which is probably what this TV series will be based on. It could be tied into the Constantine TV series pretty easily — considering the lead female in that is Zed, it looks like they might be starting off with Jamie Delano's run (which doesn't feature the First of the Fallen at all, though later writers retconned him into the background of certain events), so they can get everything established and then do a crossover or something. All it would require would be a bit more communication than what happened in the original comics (or just have Lucifer quitting being the thing that sets off the civil war, and have the triumvirate just be the three demons who take over in the end. Or just have them be completely separate).

Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent.DC so jelly of Marvel comics.
"I don't give a rat's ass about going to hell. I guess it's because I feel like I'm already there." -MugenAnd you posted that here, why?
Because it's true. So many freaking shows in response to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and nextflix Marvel shows. Regardless, I'm still interested in seeing a show with Lucifer. The dickriding Gotham show and other ones can go burn in a fire however.
"I don't give a rat's ass about going to hell. I guess it's because I feel like I'm already there." -MugenI think we've established already that you are what common internet lingo calls, a hater.
Stand Fast, Stand Strong, Stand TogetherNo, I'm just a cynic when it comes to D Ccomics.
"I don't give a rat's ass about going to hell. I guess it's because I feel like I'm already there." -MugenI wonder if Neron is going to be appearing in this show. Or Satanus.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Lina Esco has been cast as Maze.
They probably changed her name in the comics she is Mazikeen.
Batman Ninja more like Batman's Bizarre AdventureMaybe Mazikeen is her formal name but if she follows Lucifer into the mortal world after his retirement Maze is what she's called normally?

Trump delenda estLauren German is cast as Chloe.
She is an LAPD homicide detective that was created for the show.
Batman Ninja more like Batman's Bizarre AdventureOn the one hand: excellent, Lucifer was a great series that had a great premise and plot.
On the other hand: it looks like they are going to ignore that plot and instead go with "The Devil solves crimes with the police."
First photos and official description of Lucifer.
It does include the original but it starts out when a murder happened outside of Lux and Lucifer wants to help.
Edit* Lucifer is going to air Monday at 9pm after Winter.
