I'm posting this here, because it's just a small matter of some trope descriptions disagreeing with each other, and I think this is the most appropriate forum as it is just a small matter about tropes themselves. Should be quick.

Anyway, on the Sugar-and-Ice Personality page, it says it's a sister trope to Tsundere, but according the Ice Queen page it's a subtrope, and the description on the Tsundere page itself doesn't mention sugar and ice personality at all. Now, I'm not sure whether Sugar-and-Ice Personality is a subtrope of Tsundere, a sister trope, or just a related trope (though I am leaning away from subtrope) and a little clarification so this issue could be put in order would be helpful.

(BTW, I ran out of space in the title which is why SAIP has no spaces)

I think in essence, they're similar tropes that evolved in different cultures, and have later been applied or redefined to how they appear on the pages now. Sister tropes is probably the best way to say it.

Sometimes we are not so much about creating master tropes as we are about listing established tropes, however similar some tropes may be. As mentioned, these are cultural specific terms that are closely related.

But offhand, Tsundere has implications of not just cold but actively antagonistic, creating a major contrast to their previous personality (and frequent accusations of some form of disorder are often thrown around). Others are left wondering just what the hell is wrong with them. Sugar-and-Ice Personality is different, as their sweet moments are tempered by their colder moments, rather than a 180 flip. When they do sweeten up it is more likely to feel natural rather than confusing (but not always). Tsundere is by definition confusing.

Eh, a modern cliche Tsundere is hardly confusing. The trope is that they're too stubborn or proud to admit their own "soft" feelings, for whatever reason (depends on the character, but often something like social status). So whenever they feel embarrassed by what they're feeling they instead lash out aggressively and nonsensically to cover it up.

Frankly it's the absolute simplest form of depth a character can have. A half-step above a one-dimensional character. Once you recognize it at all, I find it bizarre to call it confusing.

@OP: Sugar-and-Ice Personality does not imply antagonism with someone else. "Cold", according to the trope, has many different variations which might have nothing to do with antagonizing someone or lashing out at them. For example, a stoic badass or a logical robot. However, in other moments, they show a more tender and sweet side, for reasons that can also vary.
