Considering that you have to gouge out the right eye of the woman in the photo and the ghost also has a missing right eye (last I recall), I think it's safe to say that they're possibly the same person.

But that still doesn't answer who the bag was.

Or who the radio voice is, not the news guy, the other one.

Or who the phone was.

Oh really when?

Because Silent Hill is always so good at providing answers?

Anyway, my theories:

Bag: store manager's head
Radio Voice: the guy who does the narration over the ending
Phone: the game itself

The demo has apparently been a rollicking success which bodes rather well for the perfomance of the final game, I suppose.

Or who the phone was.

WHO WAS PHONE? ...Sorry, couldn't resist.

Anyway, I don't think that's the radio talking about the store manager thing. I always thought it was Sink Babby talking. The voice is different from the other voices from the radio, it only gets triggered when you walk in the bathroom, and Sink Babby's lips sync with the words as they're said.

Could be wrong, though; I've only seen, like, two let's plays where that scene happens.

Just saw that last night. Yeah, you only see that if you go into the first bathroom you come across after solving the distorted hallway.

[up]Well, one could say that a new, genuinely scary Silent Hill game coming out after all this time is...

A grim reminder.

Damn, that looks good. Although, tbh, I'm not sure if I want to play it if it will be filled with so many bugs (which is del Toro's go to thing for horror). I hate bugs.

Though I guess squishing them will always be nice.

P.T. spoilers incoming - so my brother and I played through this over a few days and finally beat it after much trial and error on the final puzzle. I expect the final game won't be quite as obtuse, since Kojima said he wanted players to take a long time to beat P.T. so the Silent Hills reveal wouldn't be... revealed too soon. So I'm not too worried about extremely obtuse puzzles appearing in the finished game. What I do like is how the game doesn't hold your hand and lead you to the solution, it expects you to examine the environment and figure it out.

So here's my theory on what the hell is going on; we play as Lisa's husband, who murdered her in the bathroom in a fit of rage. After killing her, he realized/remembered that she was pregnant, and in his madness, ripped open her womb and extracted the still-living fetus, placing it in the sink. Or maybe he didn't. The fetus could just be a twisted reflection of his guilt over killing his unborn child.

So basically, the main character is in some kind of purgatory, forced to walk down the same corridor over and over and over as punishment for his sins. Notice the marks on the wall in the room you start the game in - he's been through the same hallway thousands of times. It's like a way more fucked up version of Groundhog Day, but without Bill Murray.

My theory on the bag - listen to what it tells you. "I walked. All I could do was walk." What are you doing throughout most of P.T.? Walking down the same hallway. I think the bag is what the main character will become if he fails to escape - fails to be "chosen" as the phone says at the end.

The bag also says, "I saw me walking in front of myself. But it wasn't really me." What do you do in a third-person perspective game, in particular the Silent Hill series? There's also several points where Lisa is "stalking" you - you can see her shadow directly behind you if you angle the light correctly, and you can hear her breathing behind you and hear the knock of her single high heel while walking. (following by a soft squelching sound - she's only wearing one high heel when you see her entire body) Lisa is following the main character in much the same way the player "follows" the person they're playing as in a third-person perspective game.

Anyway, I am psyched for Silent Hills. I hope the final game keeps the first-person view and doesn't involve fighting/shooting. The recent trailer would seem to indicate that, so here's hoping.

What makes a good man turn neutral? Lust for gold? Power? Or were you just born with a heart full of neutrality?

So in case anyone didn't know there's been some stuff with Kojima or whatever.

Podcast about that shit.

Also some story analysis of P.T. by a podcast/commentary group I like.

I like the idea that the Swedish radio voice was just Kojima's idea to mess with a certain popular swedish Let's Player of horror games.

I mean, Kojima would.

Of course hills are silent, they are the most taciturn and reserved of all land features. Now fjords, those are some loudmouth and boisterous motherfuckers.

P.T. is being pulled from PSN on Wednesday

sad

Could be they were always planning on pulling it eventually (and they could easily sell this as such) but the timing is, ah... unfortunate :/

[up]Because Konami have been seemingly torching every single bridge they have with Kojima Productions, putting real doubt on if Silent Hills will even get made to begin with.

And while they've insistently reassured that Metal Gear 5 will be completed and Kojima is still on board for at least that, the words "Silent Hills" has yet to be uttered by either of them, the uncertainty being quadrupled by the fact that nobody has a single clue what Kojima is planning on doing after the MG5 launch.

That and lately Konami seems to be making every effort to render themselves belly-up this time next year

They have so many big names tied to this and it had such good press up til now, It would be only a fool to cancel the game.

Konami has been very foolish with the Silent Hill series.

...And the Castlevania series.

In fact, Konami has seemingly been run by complete incompetents who actively hate making a profit for. Years? I'm going with years.

The only thing that they've done a good job with has been the Metal Gear Solid series.

It's worth comparing the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, made by the developers of other HD collections such as God Of War and Shadow of the Colossus, with the Silent Hill HD collection, made by the devlopers of Frogger Returns and Karaoke Revolution Glee: Volume 3.

Ignoring the quality of the latter two as games, there would seem to me to be a fairly obvious difference in skillsets required.

"It's not gonna happen and that breaks my greasy heart." were the exact wordings of Del Toro, as per the details shared by Twitter user TV's Matt Hackney. This was retweeted by Ian Gibson, Assistant to Guillermo del Toro.
It happened at San Francisco Film Festival last night.
