I dunno about this one. I want this to be good, but we'll see.

I like what I've seen so far.

So the question is he actually Jesus or just a loony who thinks he's Jesus? Potential either way. Even better if it's kept ambiguous.

Seeing as Jesus will be played by Slink Johnson, I won't be able to see this as anything but Lamar getting a god complex and thinking he's Jesus.

As for the loonies . . . no comment. We all know Jesus's ethnicity, and it doesn't matter.

Seems like a waste of energy to be upset about a comedy that most of them probably won't watch anyways.

Extremists get upset over everything, it's how they cope with not conquering the world and imposing their own extremes.

To be fair they're focusing on his swearing and doing weed rather than his race. I can understand even rational Christians being upset about that. On the other hand to paraphrase and update St. George, the remote comes with several buttons. Some change the channel, another turns it off.

Indeed. There's no point complaining about a single show, it's when said show starts a prevailing trend that you need to start doing something. Which would be creating your own shows to combat it.

I thought it was going to be a movie.

I'd like to remind the fundies that Jesus brought his own booze to the party. And then He made it the canonically greatest keg party ever.

Pretty good. Kind of a typical ghetto comedy, but good.

I'm religious. My problem with this has NOTHING to do with him being black. That is the wrong thing. My problem is that Mc Gruder is only doing this to push buttons. He WANTS to offend Christians. I dare him to make a movie solely to offend Muslims.

An artist is targeting his art at the society he lives in, using a Black Jesus to deal with Black people of Christian background.

It's as unsurprising as the reflexive cliche "I dare him to make a movie solely to offend Muslims".

Although a disreputable portrayal of the prophet Jesus would offend Muslims so...yeah.

I thought it looked boring based on the ad, but I watched the first episode and it was hilarious

I only caught half, but it looks amusing so far. Not enough to make it a regular thing, but as filler it's not bad.

It seems cool. I like how there seems to be an actual storyline instead of a series of gags.
