Seirei Tsukai No Blade Dance

I must say, I do rather enjoy the Maid's translation of Rinslet's tsundere. It's just an amusing running gag.

Unlike the other running gag which is not funny at all. How did he not notice she was on top of him anyway?

As soon as they mentioned they need more team members I knew Rinslet was going to join up. And of course both she and Clair are total tsundere's about it.

So the final member of the harem shows up. Maybe this means things will start to move faster because we are almost at half point by now. Oh and the obviously evil dude showed up.

That's what I am hoping for as well. Though as utterly generic and unremarkable this show has been so far I do enjoy the summoning incantations.

Episode 5:

• So Restia cooked up the Ren Ashbell idea.
• Two-on-five? Claire likes those odds! The result was not in her favor, though.
• Carol's truly amusing. And how did she happen across such information? Simple: She's a maid.
• Yeah, Kamito. They're a bit crazy.
• Rinslet so wants to team up with them. But, who would be the better leader?
• Ellis has fallen. Hard.
• Greyworth and Kamito had a snark battle. Greyworth won.
• Fianna seems pretty chill.

It's so obvious Kamito will make a team and everyone join him it wasn't even funny.

Episode 6:

• So Fianna's not royalty anymore just because she didn't jump at a golden opportunity? Kinda extreme, I think.
• A cooking contest? Ha, so you knew that Claire sucks at cooking. ...But you're no better, Fi. You blew Claire's brains out with yours!
• Okay, so that Jio person isn't the Demon King. Two male elementers in one place is abnormal, though.
• Fi saw the Crimson Calamity. Doesn't look like she took it well...

Ugh, the harem antics this time were painful to watch. I don't think I like... Fianna (I keep just calling her purple in my head) I'm not fan of the pushy ojou-sama types.

Fianna I'm not sure if your dish is actually better, as bad as Claire cinders were, at least people stayed conscious after taking a bite.

So yeah, 3/4 of the episode is just cat-fights and Kamito being a pushover but at least the villain is officially introduced. And damn, is he OP. Also strikes me as he "obsessive" type of bad guy.

Oh will Kamito survive this wound? Yep he will.

Hopefully next episode will actually focus on the fight in the mine instead of more harem antics.

Episode 5. In which the new one arrives.

I'm not sure it's such a disgrace considering the gender balance of the participants.

She seems like a nice girl. Relatively speaking, though there's not a whole lot of competition in the nice area.

Didn't they already do that joke about her not being naked? And the usual blame-the-one-not-doing-it "comedy" routine.

If you notice, she wasn't actually done summoning by the time they were standing there and watching her take a free action.

Carol is fluent in tsundere. And in troll.

So he wasn't that oblivious as to miss her intentions.

Ellis, while still a tsundere like most of the girls, is stilla actually honest. Relatively speaking, again with the same reservation.

Episode 6. In which Claire dies.

Is what he says supposed to be some kind of a revelation?

I think they should continue flirting if it pisses her off. And I also think she's got the right interpretation of it.

So that's where I recognise her voice from. La Princess. Also a tease. One of them is just not as confident.

"Then who's going to do the cooking and cleaning?" As selfish as that is, it's rather cute, and surprisingly honest.

A fire spirit would like a piece of charred coal for food.

Fianna uses the Xelloss school of cooking.

Good stand-in for blood. Also, her face is going to sting a bit.

I suppose that clears her up for joining his team.

Why would he drop the sword if he was hurt in the other shoulder?

Episode 7:

I wanted to complain how slowly the plot moves, but then I realized: how can it move quickly when 70% of each episode is nothing but lowest grade harem antics? and it's episode 7 of 12. boy are thing going to get rushed at the end.

Seriously, we spent like 16 minutes on boob jokes and Princess Eggplant being clingy.

Purple is really annoying me btw. Why does harems have to include someone like her?

Okay, that one image spot was kinda funny, I'll give them that.

I like Jio, he's entertaining, unlike Kamito. Too bad he'll lose to power of friendship or something like that.

About Kamito, he was kinda interesting in the beginning but now he's every other LN protagonist ever.

Episode 7:

• The A-Cup Angst was very strong here.
• Fi loves messing with people.
• A temporary team-up? Naw, after this mission, y'all gonna be a team. Quit denying it.
• No, horse. Don't go after Est's stockings. She'd be fine if you nibbled her skirt.
• Wait, wait. Rinslet, what are you saying to Carol? Now I'm wondering who's the maid here.
• Let's go to the mining city, where Dark SoraJio hands everyone their butts. Really, Ellis. Restoring your spirit's HONOR wasn't going to tip the scales in your favor.
• Oh, I just realized that any similarities Kamito shared with Raishin died the moment he was outed as Ren Ashbell.

Ok, that was a BAD episode. Hopefully that's all the filler for the time being.

Okay, this was awful.

This series is just bad. It's not so much a story as it's bunch of cliches thrown together without skill. I honestly doubt a single creative idea made it way here.

The characters are cardboard cut-outs from the book of overused sterotypes, the jokes are stolen from every other cliched harem comedy ever and the less said about their timing and delivery the better. The "twist" are so unimaginative you can see them coming from a mile away, and the plot - when it manages to squeeze itself between the marathons of re-used jokes and spectacularly unsexy fanservice- is just boring.

This series sucks. Good god, what was I thinking expecting it to get better, looking back this has failure written all over it.

Well, I'm out. I might chime in if I happen to be really, really, really bored, but I no longer expect anything good out of this.

I could tell that from the FIRST episode dude :p

This is just painfully incompetent.

In its defense, I kinda like the unflappable, doesn't-freak-out at nude girls MC. Harem M Cs like that are rare. Still a far cry from the yardstick I now measure harem protagonists and series with nowadays.

Epiosde 8:

• Est is pure win.
• Jio's revealed as the fraud he is. And to think I thought he was Dark Sora...

Apparently, the LN is better. Or so I've heard, I haven't got read them yet.

Also, Ellis's spirit is Simorgh, not Sylphid. Sylphid is the name of the knight order Ellis belongs to.

If the LN is any better, I have to say that it's far harder to stand reading it than hearing it anyway. There's nowhere remotely enough pretty pictures to keep your interest either.

Episode 7. In which someone just won't stop teasing/flirting.

She doesn't quite look as evil as people claim she is.

I'd say it's an obvious trap, but it's a fair question. Manipulative little girl, she is.

Stupid harem antics.

Tsundere even out of sight. Not that it affects our resident Tsundere Translator.

I think harem girls care more about breasts than the guys do. And that's saying a lot, considering the usual depiction of guys in anime, harem anime in particular.

That's a question she expected her to have an actual answer for? Although, I'd at least give the answer a credit for being good up to the first line. After that, not so much.

Well, she's at least being somewhat reasonable with her expectations for him recognising her, and in the hints she's giving. And it'd do her well to recognise the implied compliment in what he was saying.

Stuck between a hard place and a rather softer place.

I know about one way to make your breasts larger that actually works (often, not always). Have a baby. I have a fair idea of what she's saying, though.

Yeah, like she could not add some teasing in that situation.

She's got two reasonable henchmen. I like the green-haired one. That's some odd kind of braids.

Yup. Actually one of the funnier Imgine Spots about it, though.

Awkward... Well, at least she's not beating him up for it. Which is a change.

Why does it feel like she's not quite the person to instruct her maid to take care of herself?

Ho, ho, ho. Such a silly laugh.

She's lucky the spear didn't fall on her. But then, this isn't Another

Yeah, it's not like any sword is going to be stronger than the one that's a loli.

If she caught his arm, then Kamito should have ample time to swing his sword at the very least once. This isn't a turn-based battle, you know.

That's an odd place to end it.

Episode 8. In which the princess gets serious.

Kind of unusual to see someone with fake breasts. Sure, you see it here and there, but it's not exactly common.

Way to get their hopes up, hero. Though as later shown, neither really fits the description of completely lacking any either.

As a reward, she wants to be petted on the head. Reminds me of Tick-Tock.

Yeah, challenge the eerie girl dressed in black with mysterious powers. That'll end well.

That's kind of mean, calling her out on having as many friends as you can count on your left thumb.

They're walking in a mine shaft, and then suddenly they're at the end of a grand, pillared chamber.

Familiar name, that.

She didn't ask if he wanted to watch?

The best strategy in this case would probably be to stall. He doesn't need to win, just make sure that the girls do their part. Which he did.

Now that's a sword I'd expect to be stronger than Est.

If this series has anything going for it, it's that it's not badly drawn, and the voices are good. Things you don't find in light novels.

I think that if there's only one thing I could change about this, it would be the stupid harem antics. Most notably every single case a weapon, spell, or other offensive implement is directed at Kamito, when it isn't from an actual enemy.

Episode 9:

• So it was Ellis' sister who fought Ren Ashbell on that day.
• Great timing, Ellis! ...No, her arrival is also badly timed. Sigh. All the craps Scarlet can give...
• Team Scarlet's doing well.
• Bullying? Classy ladies, real classy. And that's why Rinslet put y'all to rout.
• Hmph, kinda shocked that Rinslet's not on the team yet. Oh, it'll happen, mark my words.
• Fine, be stingy. Carol will gladly take that free arm.
• This is the price to pay for spoiling Est so much, Kamito.
• Elf ears. Green hair. Keeping tabs on Claire. Totally not suspicious. Also, why such an obvious name for your group of merchants? Murders? Seriously? It's like people are complete idiots for buying cursed seals from such merchants. Or they maybe were desperate for power, like Claire when she took some drugs power from Restia.

Episode 9. In which there's chocolate.

The idol of everyone. Even if she defeated her sister. Well, for some sisters, that might be more normal.

Those two should not be cooking. Well, one of them has at least proven to be capable of cooking up what she intends to cook up, but whether that's something healthy or not is a different question. Especially if she looks like a yandere while doing it...

Ah, so that's what it was. No matter what universe, can't skip the Valentine's Day Episode in a Harem Anime.

"But there aren't any guys at this school." He can't seriously be that dense. That's Natsuru levels right there.

"You have friends?" That's kind of mean, and actually OOC for him. He'd count at least a few of the girls hanging around him into that.

She doesn't have any inhibitions. At all. Also, stupid harem antics.

She took that comment about burning fat seriously with a straight face?

Rinslet has her good points.

Carol once again translates Tsundere where it's needed.

Memorising isn't an efficient way to learn. Which he later pointed out.

Okay, an apology. Well, at least she realises she's been wrong. After talking with the others, but still.

Of course she'd tease him for that little secret. Can't blame her.

Sneaky maid is also good at taking advantage of tsundere behaviour.

Est is pushy and manipulative.

Stupid harem antics. Just mentioning he sees someone is enough for a jealously outbreak?

Not surprised at that last villain speech.

Episode 10. In which there's turbulence.

I don't think he's going to see anything wrong with that study location.

Very submissive maid, she is. Asking what he wants at swordpoint. And she's surprisingly unembarrassed about a lot of it.

Still just a sixteen-year-old girl, yeah. And having to take responsibilities of an adult. Being responsible for other people's safety isn't easy in the least.

Well, I can't disagree when she thinks she's a horrible person, but I'm not sure about the reasons. And it would be a lot more sympathetic if it hadn't reeked of entitlement.

Gotta say, I like her design. Cape's a bit long, though. Personality, not so much. Also, a bit powerful. I'd like to see her reaction if she found out who he was at one point.

And he's entirely unperturbed from what happened.

Checking wagons, handling disputes, finding lost pets, defeating invading tentacle monsters from hell. All in a day's work.

That's a change. They call her a pervert for something that isn't perverted at all.

I'm kind of fascinated at how bad this is. It's entirely formulaic, but seems to lack the skill to pull off even the formulas it does. Characters have no chemistry, the jokes aren't funny, the art is awful, the animation cheap, the story uninteresting.... It pretty much fails on every level. Even for a shitty harem show.

It's not even outrageously bad, it's just terribly bland.

It's strangely watchable, I find. And I don't think the art is that bad. The premise is interesting, I suppose, and a few of the characters aren't that bad.

I think some o the characters are *theoreticall* entertaining, they just fail to actually be entertaining. (the exception is Carol's tsundere-translating, it's a gag/personality trait that actually works)

"strangely watchable" is a good way of putting it. I agree I find it better than say, Dragonar, although I would have a hard time saying why. I guess the characters work ok as group, even if none of them all that interesting individually.

Episode 10:

• How...maid-like of you, Ellis. Y-Yeah, that's right. You may have taken things too literally, though.
• Velsaria's quite something, insulting her sis so casually. And the girls who joined up with her are a-okay with being treated as pawns.
• Doing quests 'round town, that's how Sylphid rolls.
• Well, at least it's nice to know that not all of Sylphid hates Ellis' guts.
• Yes, ladies. Praise and feed Est some more.
• I'm sorry, but I just can't feel sorry for Claire this time. Being alone and getting back-talked all your life won't help your case this time around. Why? Your stubbornness... It feels...obnoxious.
• Oh, those two girls are gonna get their darkness fix. Just to be petty bullies.
• Looks like Velsaria has done some dark dealings herself.
