The translation is out. Ishida's just like "Oh yeah, right before Nutcracker gets taken out I'm gonna give you her tragic backstory on one page, do you feel like a hero now?"

I'm a little confused, did Nutcracker's detached kagune impale her, or was that Saiko? It seemed like her own Kagune did it, but I'm not sure.

Also I know Saiko must have used them off panel, because we only see the aftermath of the fight, but why not show her kagune in action? Perhaps there's something unique about her kagune after all? Maybe it's one we've seen before. I want to say Kaneki's but as Harostar said, they don't have the same bloodtype (though maybe Saiko's the exception to that rule?). The only Rinkaku type we've seen with Type B blood is Yamori, but having seen Saiko's kagune in her Imagine Spot (not to mention the fact that they probably used all him to make Juuzou's Jason), we know they don't really resemble his.

And wow, it's just getting worse and worse for Kaneki, he's suffering again but this time people who care about him get to hear it.

Soooooooooooo

Found this on Reddit. It's from the first series, chapter 1 page 11. Quite the foreshadowing.

Ishida is the king of foreshadowing.

Like, Kaneki's drawing of what he thinks a Ghoul really looks like resembles Eto's massive kakuja form.

And Seidou's transformation is foreshadowed from his earliest appearances.

While it hasn't been confirmed yet, there's also the tons of times we get Amon with his right eye covered/in shadow.

[up][up][up]I was wondering about what exactly Saiko did, too. I thought I missed a page or something.

I find it funny how Scarecrow out of all ghouls is causing huge issues by accident. Makes me wonder how important he will be in the future.

I have no doubt in my mind that Akira recognizes who is beating Sasaki half to death right now (and judging by her reaction right she is pretty upset about it) and that Hinami is also going to probably do something drastic next chapter considering she likely will recognize Sasaki's screaming....

Edit: It might just be a coincidence but I noticed Seidou's mocking comment ''Let's see your lines will be I don't want to die and I want to die after all sounded very strange at first...

It hit me not to long after that I don't want to die is what Seidou wrote before the raid where got captured and turned into this....still not sure if that is just me reading to much into it....

I doubt you're reading too much into it. It's not much of a stretch to imagine there was some point in Takizawa's transition where he started to think he should've been careful what he wished for.

I mean, Kaneki tried to stabbed himself as soon as he realized what was going on, and he was a lot better off, in general.

^^ Definitely not reading into it. Ishida has used the idea of someone repeating their suffering on others more than once in the series, so very likely the "play" is repeating the things Aogiri did to him. So he went from not wanting to die, to suffering so much he wished for death.

Hinami has ordered Ayato, Miza and Naki (and presumbly the grunts) to retreat, Uta has momentarily stopped trolling Hirako and taken off his mask and what little we see of his expression does not seem amused or happy, Roma is probably quite...aroused, Akira is freaking out possibly due to recognizing Seido's voice (and maybe concern for Sasaki's well-being as well) and Saiko is horrified at what she sees on the monitors.

I'm assuming everyone's (or at least some of the important characters) going to be racing to Sasaki's location. That sounds like the recipe for a complete clusterfuck, especially if Kaneki returns and goes berserk (worst case in Kakuja form).

Yeah....so that definitely might confirm that he isn't actually on a power trip. With that in mind it would likely be that they brainwashed him after they tortured him.....

And yeah I think Centipede is going to come back. Kaneki's life is in danger by a brainwashed psycho at this point while he's undergoing another mental break down.

This raid isn't going to end well....

Spoilers so far:

  • Urie is on 80% power, loses control and starts cackling and ranting about everyone being in his way.
  • Mutsuki's kagune!! He comforts Urie, who passes out while realizing the blood isn't from a wound and Mutsuki is (anatomically) female.
  • Juuzou's squad arrives, he greets his Mama and prepares to fight.
  • Akira is missing.
  • Saiko is too afraid to fight Takizawa, but Hinami appears and uses her kagune to bring Sasaki over to her and holds him. Takizawa calls her Chan Hina <3 like Eto does.

So based on Takizawa's words, I guess this means that he's at least aware of Hinami and likely vise versa? If so, that really sheds some light on just how different she has become and makes me all the more curious as to why she chose that path. I'm also expecting Akira to show up, further stirring the pot.

Sasaki should just give in to Kaneki. This jobbing is getting embarrassing. He was on the verge of giving in 2 chapters ago, but then he pussied out and the asskicking continued.

He's on the verge on death but still refuses to accept his past/true self because he's deluded himself into thinking he'll 'disappear' if he remembers his past, never mind that if he dies he'll 'disappear' regardless.

He's a complete regression.

If he's still Sasaki by the time he regains consciousness he's going to botch this reunion.

Man, it sure is ironic for Urie to go out of control when before the raid he said something to the effect of 'I won't go on a rampage like Sakaki did'. You tempted fate too much there, Urie.

I'm now wondering whether Urie's poor judgement in this mission may have been due to his kagune driving him a little more crazy.

And so Mutsuki's kagune appears. Is it one that is mostly only used for healing, like Banjo's? Can ghouls heal other ghouls?

And Hinami is coming back to the limelight! I am excited by this development.

I find it horribly amusing that Urie had a breakdown. He only handled it slightly better then Haise/Kaneki.

GET HYPED. Chapter 30 is leaking!

  • Hinami recalls their time at Anteiku, and Kaneki teaching her kanji.
  • Hinami vs Takizawa, who does the same creepy regen effect as Noro to reattach his still-wriggling arm.
  • Juuzou vs. Big Madam. He's smiling and tells her he's never hated her, but it's his job.
  • Maskless Hinami and a weeping Saiko with Sasaki, who looks really sad while Saiko begs him to not go. He smiles sadly and turns away.
  • There's a shot of Takizawa's kakuja mask forming over his face.

That's not quite what I was expecting to happen, but it's exciting none-the-less. I figured the encounter with Hinami and Takizawa would at least start out peacefully since I had assumed the final line of the previous chapter indicated some form of familiarity. I guess I was wrong? Hopefully we begin to learn more about why Hinami joined Aogiri. The speculated reason makes sense, but seeing the exact details would clear up a lot of things and I have personally been dying to know since the first chapter of :re.

Also, I was not one of those expecting Kaneki/Centipede to appear during this encounter (nor did I care if he did), but if Takizawa is beginning to use a kakuja form, I wouldn't be surprised if he did just because that will be one hell of a challenge for Hinami. Plus with her face being revealed and Saiko being upset, the perfect conditions for such a thing are coming together in a way not unlike his encounter with Orochi.

Fake Edit: Seeing those spoiler pictures, I'm surprised to see that Hinami can produce four of her rinkaku kagune. I guess she's been training and likely eating plenty, because I'm pretty sure that's the only way to essentially increase the number of kagune you can use. It also seems that Takizawa definitely was the one who is saying Hina-chan, but I guess he is determined to achieve his goal of bringing out Kaneki... which it looks like he's been successful in doing going by some of the other images.

Some more details, according to Makyun on tumblr. (Awesome, Japanese literate fan!)

  • Miza has taken over command on the roof top. Everyone is panicking.
  • Takizawa asks why she got in the way, and Hinami makes up an excuse about Haise still being useful. She tries to deflect by asking him to go help Rabbit and the others at the entrance. He teases her and states that "big brother will decide that" and launches an attack that she blocks with her kagune. He orders her to leave so he can eat Haise. Hinami thinks about the past, and then wonders if Haise is "just an empty vessel". She decides she'll protect him no matter what, and uses her kagune to slice off Takizawa's arm. He claims that it hurts, and compliments her strength — he calls him "oniichan" again and brings out his kakuja as Sasaki wakes up.
  • Juuzou remembers Big Madam giving him a toy Giraffe. He defeats her, and she asks if he hates Mama. Juuzou smiles and tells her he never hated her. She starts screaming at him, calling him stupid and saying she never loved him — his squad finishes her off, and while Hanbee comforts him.
  • Hinami is losing against Owl-zawa, when Sasaki steps forward. (Takizawa is apparently berserk as a Kakuja, he starts rambling nonsense and slamming his head against a pillar.) Saiko begs him not to go, but he gets ready to fight. He tells Hinami that he isn't the person she knew, but asks her to run. He states that even if his body is Ken Kaneki, he's Haise Sasaki. But he concludes that Kaneki must have been a wonderful person.
