Eeeeeeeyeah, not really keen on that.
Seems like I got the current and the suggested image confused.

The caption suggested (and agreed on) there is way funnier, though I think it'd be better with no page image at all. I think I understand the suggestion, it is something like "pick a card, any card" and he is making it obvious which card he wants picked and which he doesn't, because he is a Bad Liar. I had to think about that a lot, though. I don't think it is good.

Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.^ Prolly playing old maid. I seem to recall a similar set of panels from a Ranma comic about the same thing.
Even with Rodney's explanation, I don't see how the suggestion shows a Bad Liar. Of course, I don't see how the current one does, either. I vote pull 'em both.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.I agree with the OP. The current is Blatant Lies. I can tell that in the suggestion he's making it obvious which card he wants picked and which he doesn't, because he is a Bad Liar. I say switch.
I didn't get the suggestion until Rodney explained it.
Besides, I'm not even sure it's a proper example. He's not actually lying; he's just doing a bad job at hiding his feelings about his opponent's actions. (Though I could just be reading it wrong; the description's gimmick is a bit confusing, to be honest.)

I don't the suggested image is a good one, without the explanation I would have had no idea what's going on there.
Here's what's confusing to me about the suggestion: people have said that "he's doing a bad job of lying about whether he wants his opponent to take that card or not". But it can just as easily be seen as "he's doing a bad job of hiding his actual reaction to his opponent picking that card." All the picture shows is that in one case he's worrying because his opponent is going to take <that card> and in the other, he's gloating that they are going to take <the card next to it.> Is he lying or is just really bad at maintaining anything even close to a poker face? Or, it even could be that he's a very good liar.
On top of that, I didn't even notice that the opponent was touching two different cards the first half-dozen times I looked at it.

That argument is what Red Paint arguments wish they could be: an easy mistake to make.

Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan. The current is about Keep Until Better Image Suggested level for me. Suggestion is not an improvement.
"Polite life will fill you full of cancer." - Iggy Pop "I've seen the future, brother, it is murder." -Leonard CohenThe article is written in a Self-Demonstrating Article way that makes it less clear.

Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan. The current is terrible because it's more an example of Blatant Lies than Bad Liar, but Maddy does pose a good argument against the suggestion. How about the Ranma example?
What in Cthulhu's name is going on with his face?!
He bandaged his face to hide his expression (which obviously doesn't work).
Oh, okay, I see it wrapping around his head now. Not really down with that one.
Gah! 14 Looks plain creepy. I can kinda see what's going on after staring at it for long enough, but I'd be very hesitant to support it, simply because it disturbs me.
Image Source. Please update whenever an image is changed.I know there is a page earlier than that in that same comic where Nabiki is explaining how the gambling king cannot bluff while comparison images make it clear Ranma cannot either. I have not been able to find them online with English text though.
Using that particular scene would need too many panels though — which, at wiki size, would look squished. (Not to mention, we'd have to use almost the entire page to get the whole point across, which I'm sure is not allowed).
An entire page is more justifiable in a longer work than when the page is a strip of its own. Though it's probably a bad idea anyway, unless it's a splash page or something.

I like both of Rexpensive's in #23. Yes, they're wordy, but in this case some verbal explanation is going to be necessary. I think I prefer the first one a bit more.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Call me obtuse, but how to they illustrate (and yes, text counts) the trope?

Image is more an example of Blatant Lies than Bad Liar. Here's a suggestion:
