"Being a better example" is a minor consideration in Image Picking - we look for the best illustration.

@2 is that even the same being? I prefer the Gundam suggestion, since it's more clear that the golden version is a "powered up" form.
I don't think you have to show "normal mode". If "super mode" only looks super by comparison to normal, it probably isn't very good for a page image. (Unless there are "normal" and "super" versions of something in the same image, that might be cool.)

I kind of prefer the sonic ones because they have those power auras. They seem pretty clear to me.
I like 1.2. Not only do they have power auras, the body language (especially Sonic's) says "super" IMO, and they are hovering in space (which is a very Superman backdrop). Great example of not needing a comparison frame to look super.

Consensus is a little light on the Sonic pic but it's more dynamic and a lot more people are familiar with what Sonic looks like than the current, so I think it's good enough to make the swap. The new pic's up, potholed, and tagged; use the caption repair thread for discussion on that. Locking up.
It's just a gold figure. Presumably it's a Super Mode, but no real evidence of that. I think a 2-part picture is best, one showing the regular mode, one showing super. I'm shooting for images where the regular mode is in a mundane pose and the Super Mode is just more powerful looking, either through Battle Aura, Power Floats, etc.
