Hello, tropers! I'm Princess Of Sunflowers and I've just joined the TV Tropes community (though I've 'been' on TV Tropes for at least two years). Anyway, today I'm here to ask you, gentle tropers there in the forums, to ask you for help regarding one of the stories I have in mind. I'm currently 'working' (I don't know if that's the right term, since I don't actually have anything ready to work on, maybe except for the first one of my stories) on three different stories (that will all be webcomics). The first story is the one I have the less problems with, so I may ask for help with that much later, when I'll need the last few details. The third story is a newborn idea, so for now I'll see what I can do myself. And now, the second story, the one I'm asking help for. So, I have almost all the characters ready, as well as the setting, but what I really need help for is the actual plot. The story is supposed to be about a girl, Shika, who happens to be a demi-goddess (I don't want to use this term, though, it sounds too 'important' to me), daughter of the Major God of Nature, and that gives her the ability to turn into a deer centaur (a deertaur, as it will be called in-universe). So far, the plot is Shika and her Five-Man Band travelling around their world so far only to stop demons from their plan to get rid of all the half-bloods. Now, I do want my story to include the 'stop the demons from half-bloods' genocide' plot, but I don't want it to be the main plot. I want something that can include Loads And Loads Of Characters and Loads and Loads of Races, and not something that's all about the protagonist and the main group. I probably didn't add enough things to give you an idea of the story, so feel free to ask me about any explanation, in case you're open to help me. I may start to ask for help about my third story as well, but, as I said, that's a newborn idea, so I want to see what I'll be able to create myself.

The main plot could involve the implied pantheon of Gods bickering over something and the result of that on the world below. That would give you an excuse to see Shika ( as her father may involve her in some way ), but she'll hardly be the only demi-god involved in the dispute, as well as allowing you to show off some less divine people ( like agents of a given God ) all the way down to the non-divine fanatics.

You could add an extra layer where the non-divine normal people don't actually see the battle that is raging, only the effects; such as not seeing the Gods grappling in the sky, but instead seeing the weather change from normal to snowing, which might put them in danger.

Another idea might be that a number of small problems, including Shika's problems with the demons, all come at once and one or more kingdoms are struggling to combat each problem at the same time, perhaps leading to a revolution of some kind.

Both ideas aren't bad, so I'll keep them both in mind as two equal possibilities for now, I'll try to develop something from both and see which one I like best, or I'll rather do a mix of the two.

About the first idea, the one of the bickering Gods, seems the best one to finally give Shika a reason to start her journey and pick up members for her band, that will all join her because of the demons-related plot (as I have The Lancer who was cursed by a demon and is now a shape-shifter and The Chick (or rather The Heart, since he's a male) is his brother, The Smart Guy is a former demon hunter and The Big Guy is his partner (he's a mix between his ally and his lover), and the Tagalong Kid is orphan because of the demons). Of course, Shika won't be the only demi-god, I was already going to add her two half-siblings, and I'll probably do minor characters that happens to be children of other Gods of the pantheon.

Anyway, about the second idea, what kind of other problems could be involved? Should there be normal problems along with ones of divine/supernatural origin (like some mythical creature's attack or something like that), or just the second kind? Because the 'revolution' thing made me think of more normal/realistic problems that can happen in your average fantasy setting.

I would have a mix of both.

For more normal problems, just take the concepts directly from reality - the economy slows due to an aging workforce, disease spreads because a bunch of charlatans are spreading lies about doctors/medical treatment for money, perhaps a renaissance of sorts, where some people are starting to question just why the king/queen deserves to be the grand ruler(s), and even a mob war escalating to the point of threatening civilians.

For more fantasy problems, you could have the dead rising from their graves and failing to understand why people run screaming from them ( and why they feel so sick ), a dragon attacking a town because someone stole what they thought was an item that wasn't worth enough for it to miss ( but turns out to be a personal token from its deceased mate ), elves being turned into trees and burned down by a bunch of racists, and a mage harassing the a village ( specifically, gathering items from corpses in the cemetery ) as he/she plans to steal the heart of a god.
