Founded in early 1862 (Earth Standard Time) by Antoinette Antebel the First, Antebel's Academy for Gifted Minors (AAGM) was made simply to train various teenagers with various powers, and to provide for them a safe environment to discover themselves, both physically and not. The Multiverse Collective decided that there were too many individuals who were allowing their powers to go to waste and thus made the Academy itself, in it's own dimension free from harm or mortal meddling. Over the years the Academy remained a mystery with only a few hand-picked pupils to teach. Of course, word got out to many of the universes in which such powers were an acceptable piece of reality that it became almost like any other school, and thus it soon grew in popularity and size, becoming the noteworthy place it is today.

Some would say that the Academy has diverted from it's original path, though. The dense forest that sits off to once side has been fenced up, as has the lake across from it. Guards patrol the exterior of the building and around these fences day and night, and the odd noise could be heard coming from these places. Of course, such a place wasn't meant to harm the students it takes in, so such nonsense is just that; nonsense.

So whether you have agreed to arrive of your own free-will, were forced to go by one person or another, or have been some of the few that are still picked to attend directly, we here at Antebel's Academy for Gifted Minors wish you a safe education!

For those who haven't seen the interest-check, welcome! This here RP is about the eponymous Academy itself, and the super-powered freaks who live there, going about their daily lives learning, harnessing, and using their powers, which they've developed one way or another. Laughs, loves, and lots of violence is to be had! Think Hogwarts, but with less Muggle interference into the wizardry and no houses.

Rules are the same old things; no god-modding, no being a dick to the players, no bunnying the characters, no killing people without consent (although I would like to keep casualties to a minimum). If people start arguing with one another, please take it out of the main threads, and if anyone catches someone doing something that I missed, please tell me about it because I'm really just an absent-minded teenager. Questions are encouraged if there's something you're confused over. No real limit on what powers you can have, but if I deem something too strong, I'm gonna ask you to change it.

Max limit on characters is three per person, for now. And, if I'm right in that I've covered everything, here's the thing:

  • Name: The first obvious thing.
  • Age: The second obvious thing.
  • Species: I'd rather if we kept things humanoid. Other than that, go metaphorically nuts.
  • Powers: Please be descriptive, unless it's something along the lines of "fireball". If it's a set of powers that are grouped together under one name, describe them all, or at least name them.
  • Position: Are they a student or part of the staff? If the latter, are they a teacher, guard, Moderator (in charge of keeping the students in line), or something else? Rank?
  • Appearance: How they look, walk, stand, any characters tics, whatever.
  • Personality: How they feel about things, other people, certain other people, how they think, why they act. Arguably the second most important thing when writing a superhero/villain.
  • Backstory: What makes them who they are. What they went through in life, why they're at the academy, etc. The third most important thing, arguably the second.
  • Equipment: Whatever they have on them, no matter how useless.

Just saying now, even though there aren't exactly factions, feel free to make your own popularity cliques. What's the fun of school if people don't hate you!

Name: Rose Shepherd

Age: 16

Species: As far as anyone can tell, Rose is human. She’s confused as to what they mean when anyone asks her.

Powers: Essentially firebending; Rose can shoot fire from her hands and manipulate existing fires, making them bigger or smaller or directing them.

Position: Student

Appearance: Rose is tall and athletic-looking. She has light brown hair cut very short to avoid burning it off. She is very tan and has several minor scars from burns, especially on her arms but also on various other spots on her body. She has a birthmark on her shoulder. Her eyes are a vivid yellow color, which is the only indication that she might be anything other than human. She wears shorts and T-shirts, even when it’s cold; Rose doesn’t seem to get cold. She never wears long sleeves, in case they catch fire. She has a small backpack. She wears a ring of braided grasses on a cord around her neck. She always walks with confidence, and a little faster than necessary. She’s very jumpy and twitchy and is constantly in motion, tapping her foot or her fingers when she’s standing or sitting still. She always looks like she’s about to go racing off on some crazy adventure.

Personality: Rose is perpetually cheerful, occasionally even borderline-maniacally so. She’s very excitable about whatever it is going on, and quick to jump into new situations, the crazier and potentially more dangerous, the better. She’s very friendly and out-going, and will very happily chatter on at whoever is around, assuming they don’t actively tell her to shut up. She considers everyone her friend, and is intensely protective of her friends. At the same time, she is always afraid of losing control of her powers and hurting one of her friends, though she doesn’t have the same concern for herself. Aside from this, though, Rose loves having powers, and revels in using them.

Backstory: Rose was left as a baby on the doorstep of a family in a small rural town. They took her in, but never really cared for her. When her powers manifested, she injured their own child, and the couple immediately cast her out and left her on the side of a road. Luckily for the child, an elderly shepherd returning from town found her and took her in. He accepted her powers, and as she grew up, he tried to teach her to control them and encouraged her to learn to use them properly. Every day he would tie a long strand of grass around her wrist, and every day that she didn’t burn it off accidentally, he would weave a strand into the bracelet. By the time she was fourteen, the grass bracelet was too small for her wrist, so she started wearing it on a cord around her neck. When she had gone for a year without accidentally burning it off, he made arrangements for her to go to the Academy to learn how to properly use her powers.

Equipment: Rose always carries a full water bottle with her, as well as a container of burn salve and bandages. She also carries at least one notebook and pen with her.

Oh, sorry, I was pretty tired when I read it over.

  • Name: Wylan Strahd
  • Age: 14
  • Species: Human
  • Powers:
    • Shockwave Fist: This attack has three different methods of going off, though he can change from one method into another at a moment's notice. Method 1 involves packing the force of the shockwave blast into his arm, and then punching something. The second method involves funneling the attack into a single line, concentrating it to a great degree. The final method is simply releasing the shockwave, which spreads out over a wider area.
    • Sacrificial Aura: Wylan is capable of temporarily aging himself by a set number of years, which drives up his strength and endurance...but it also really, really hurts, and while his attacks are more powerful, when he returns to normal, he's exhausted and in a lot of pain - moreso the more years he gave to the technique.
  • Position: Student
  • Appearance: Wylan is a rather tall for his age youth with slightly disorganized blond hair, blue-green eyes, and a slightly tan complexion. He usually simply wears a black t-shirt and slacks, though he's not averse to uniforms or formal wear. He has a skinny runner's build, and generally looks like he's been training a lot outside of the school.
  • Personality: Despite his innocent, nice guy act, Wylan has evidently not had the easiest life. His father, Graven, has trained him extremely hard and left him in a position of Sacrificed Basic Skill For Awesome Training. Wylan does not understand numerous social situations, and is very awkward if asked to come up and talk to a large group of people. He sees absolutely nothing wrong with the technique he uses, mainly simply because his father taught it to him. While he claims to not like fighting willy nilly, he also gets highly excited when a strong opponent presents himself.
  • Backstory: Wylan was born the last in six sons, with his father, Graven, apparently not really anticipating his birth all that much. However, evidently, Graven determined that his youngest son was worthy of some level of training, and imparted upon him a number of techniques. Wylan seems to be a young prodigy in the school, mostly in regards to combat related classes, but is regarded by others as seeming to be a little too obviously "fake" at times.
  • Equipment: He carries a backpack full of what his father sent off with him, namely, a bunch of knives for preparing food, some canned food just in case, as well as two containers full of water.

  • Name: Ein Woe / William Woville
  • Age: 21?
  • Species: Half-Demon
  • Powers:
    • Shapeshifter: Ein Woe is extremely talented in his shapeshifting power, being able to extrapolate it into a Healing Factor, as well as using it to act as a Poisonous Person.
    • Capable Martial Artist: Despite his weedy, thin appearance, Woe is quite clever in using not just his scythe, but a very dynamic, suddenly moving fighting style that prioritizes attacks that hit vital locations. He can also divert his attacks from a core area to hit something outlying from it.
  • Position: Despite his appearance and attitude, he fulfils either the role of a Guard or a Moderator, depending on what he's needed for.
  • Appearance: He has a rather disturbing appearance, though this is mostly caused by his heritage. Half his face has a white, metallic looking appearance, though this is no mask - it is in fact bone. The eye on the left side of his face is just a red slit. The right side of his face is human...but he decorates himself to look like a clown. He even completes the "ghastly jester" look with a medieval Jester's motley. Even his hands end in bone-white claws. Ironically enough, despite the fact he has a complex over it, if he cleans up the right side of his face, he's actually a Bishonen on that side, under the make up.
  • Personality: Woe is seemingly the most obvious villain - he's a Blood Knight who absolutely loves intense matches, of gradually grinding his foe into dust, and enjoying every opportunity present, thus meaning he sometimes neglects to go for the winning move. He seems to like it when his foes give as good as they take, and so he sometimes lets himself get hit by attacks just to see what "grade" of foe he's facing. In some ways, he's quite oddly chivalrous - he absolutely refuses to kill opponents who fascinate him, and will not let others do so either. He also takes a very, very dim view of people who betray a promise on some silly reasoning, and its even implied the reason he has this job is he promised someone he'd do it. Woe also has a number of other odd quirks - even though he's a malevolent creature, he's extremely deadpan when he sees certain things, and will not spare anyone a witty remark.
  • Backstory: Ein Woe does hint toward coming from a rough background, including abandonment, betrayal, and being locked up in a mental institution. However, in the modern day, he was simply hired by Graven to keep Wylan safe as well as watch and mark his development as a fighter. Woe, however, was confronted by Wylan over this, and Wylan ordered him to also protect any and all of Wylan's friends. Too amused to refuse, Woe decided to follow what Wylan said, thus starting a seriously odd friendship between an upstanding student and a Monster Clown of a Sociopathic Hero.
  • Equipment:
    • Shinigami's Scythe: Coated in a numbing, slow working paralysis poison, this weapon is what he's most known for. Large and rather like a grim reaper's scythe, unlike a conventional scythe, where one edge is not sharp, this one has two sharp edges on the blade.
    • Razor Sharp Playing Cards

Name: Heather Greenacre

Age: 17

Species: Human

Powers: Manipulation of plants. Can cause flowers, vines and tree leaves to grow and shrink, can shoot vines from her hands and has immunity to poisons due to the plant toxins inside her.

Position: Student

Appearance: 5'1" with waist length brown hair and green eyes. Her pale skin has a slight green hint to it. Wears tie dye tops and floaty skirts with flip flops, with a green dress ready for formal times. Her hair is covered in flowers on a day-to-day basis, but she only wears a single pink rose by her left ear on formal occasions.

Personality: A calm and open person who is perfectly friendly to anyone, when she can control the affects of the plant toxin inside her. When she loses her control, whether being upset or angry, the toxins take over and becomes emotionally unstable, capable of killing and going on a rampage with her powers. To avoid this, she takes "happy pills" three times a day, or when she feels her control slipping away.

Backstory: Born to muggle parents, her powers bloomed overnight when she was 7 years old. She woke up one morning and found her room had turned into a mini jungle. She was home schooled until she could control her powers. However, when walking home from school one day when she was 17, a group of men ganged up on her. In that moment, she lost control over the toxins, and went on a rampage. She strangled the men with her vines, smashed windows, threw cars and lampposts, before finally collapsing in the woods near her home. She was then sent to the Academy with some "happy pills" to control her powers when angered or upset.

Equipment: Her "happy pills", several bottles of water, a notebook and pencil case, a sketchpad, and a yo-yo.

EDIT: To go in depth about the whole "lose control" thing: when Heather is calm, or happy, or any other positive emotion, she has full control over her powers and her toxins. But she needs the pills to keep up these positive emotions. If she gets upset, or angry, or any negative emotions, unless she's taken her pills, the toxins inside take over her, and she snaps, using her powers for bad. She remembers losing control, but doesn't remember the chaos she causes. Counteracting her toxins would cause her to lose her powers.

  • Name: Gerald Waller
  • Age: 22
  • Species: Human
  • Powers/Abilities:
    • Reflexive Evolution: Given a moment, Gerald can rapidly adapt to environmental pressures, though it has to be ones that he can perceive. If he was thrown into the water, he would begin growing gills and scales, losing body hair that would create drag, and eventually achieve a musculature that allowed him to swim more efficiently. If was being pursued (or was pursuing someone) in the forest, he would begin to take on forest like pigments, gain more acute olfactory senses, and eventually start taking on physical traits of his surroundings (branch-like extentions, tall grasses growing on his back, stone like textures, etc). If caught in a burning building, he might start developing a heat-resistant exoskeleton, and his lungs may mutate to accommodate the changing atmosphere. As mentioned before, threats he's not generally aware of don't trigger the power, and it takes a short time for the mutations to take affect. The more threats he has to adapt to, the more time it's going to take for him to effectively adapt to them.
    • Healing Factor: As a byproduct of his ability to adapt, Gerald can stabilize and heal himself at an accelerated pace. Injuries that might take weeks to heal would heal in days, injuries that'd take days to heal would heal in hours. However, he can be killed permanently by sufficient head trauma, like a high caliber gun-shot to the temple.
    • Martial Arts: He's somewhat skilled in Akido and grappling, preferring to redirect and subdue an opponent than cause excessive harm. He's mostly dealing with unruly students, after all.
  • Position: Former student, currently a moderator. Takes it upon himself to council students who look like they're having a tough time.
  • Appearance: A 6'2, heavyset, light-skinned black guy. Notable default features includes thick facial hair that makes him look like a man old enough to be his father. In-between that and his bulk, he's quite used to being called a bear (but not in THAT way). As for clothes, he usually wears a leather jacket with the Academy symbol on it, an thick undershirt, jeans, and a sturdy pair of boots. Due to the nature of his power however, he can take on many different features, many of which (to his chagrin) make clothing a difficult affair.
  • Personality: Though he's naturally an introverted and self-conscious person, Gerald takes measures to do what he thinks is right and help people out in what ways he can. He'll be quick to defend someone he sees as being wronged or put in danger, even if that means he has to stand up to a superior, or against the academy itself. However, he'd prefer a conflict end in compromise rather than head-butting. He has a hard time forgiving himself for his personal faults, or a time that he could've done something productive, which can lead to him trying to make things right, or isolating himself further from people. He's slow to anger, but when someone or something manages to set him off, the result can be explosive. Though he'll be quick to deny any such claim, he more intelligent than average, being heavily curious about the ways of the world, biology being his favorite subject matter.
  • Backstory: Having been born with his powers, Gerald was fortunate to have been born in an area as secluded as he was. His parents were loving and sensitive to his condition, but they felt it was necessary to keep him a secret from the surrounding rural town, and by extension, the rest of the world. Lawrence, Gerald''s father, was an educator, and took the time to homeschool the boy while doing what he could to help him understand the nature of his abilities. Even though he came to value solitude as the years went on, there were times where this life wasn't nearly enough for his sense of wonder. Every once in a while, he'd end up running away from home, trying to experience human society and see if it was as his father described. These ventures never ended well; a good majority of the humans that managed to spot him took him to be a monster due to the nature of his mutations, and there were times where he'd only escaped being hunted down by the skin of his teeth. This caused Gerald to fall into a depressive state, which culminated in him trying (and failing) to harm himself several times while at home. He was eventually caught by his mother in one attempt, which made the couple realize that he'd never live a fulfilling life there. So they sent him to the Academy at the age of eight, where he's lived ever since.
  • Equipment: Mostly mundane items like a wallet, keys, a cellphone. He's equipped with a handheld transceiver, and a van that belongs to the school. He keeps a taser concealed near the back of his pants, covered by his jacket.

I suppose that since it is a multidimensional academy, people from other eras are also included in the mix.

  • Name: Van Araceli
  • Age: 13
  • Personal Quote: Taking risks is a part of life, isn't it? You don't think we'd be there if our ancestors decided to just cower themselves inside their boring yet cozy caves, do you?
  • Species: Human
  • Powers: Van has been classified as a windshifter, someone who can exert the wind in the area to his bidding. Every ability of his is varied from this. His powers are naturally increased when outside, particularly where the wind is strong. He successfully managed to hover above the ground once in the academy's courtyard, attracting the eyes of passersby. Indoors, it's hard to do anything of notice.
  • Position: A student.
  • Appearance: He likes this clothing too much to adapt to the modern era's fashion inside the academy
  • Personality: Van is very hyperactive, to the point he can become bored in a few minutes if a certain activity becomes repetitive, or completely snap if there is nothing else to do. Boredom is his arch-enemy and so is homework, and he believes that, were not for it, the academy would be a much more interesting place to live for everyone. His imperative personality led him to several problems at the academy, though for the last months Van learned how to "behave" and follow the rules. In short, he's a typical immature teenager with a few childish traits still clinging to him, such as stubborness and unresponsibility. Playful, outgoing, friendly and rather sarcastic, some people find it easy to hang out with him while others find his spontaneous actions and pranks annoying.
  • Backstory: Van is the third child of a poor family from the slums of their city. Needless to say, his childhood weren't the best days of his life. From sleeping with a hungry stomach to helping his family earn some income to sustain themselves, he was most of the time full of chores. One would never guess from the boy's playfulness and carefree nature that such was his life before entering the academy, at the age of 10, when Van discovered that he was a wizard (well, windshifter, if you'd please) through an accident in public.
  • While his siblings scorned him for his powers, his parents saw on the boy a chance to achieve a higher standing and relieve themselves from a burden. "Adepts", or so they were called back in his alternative dimension, were valued by the government for their rarity and usefulness. In exchange for obligatory conscription after the courses are over, the government offers help paying the monthly fee in magical academies. When he became 12, Van's parents forced him into the deal and sent him off to Antebel's Academy after it was settled.
  • Equipment: School stuff and nothing more than that. He carries a backpack around with a notebook and pen where he likes to write down ideas and draw.

[up][up] Accepted.

[up] A few problems, but probably from more my fault of not explaining correctly; first off, age of admission for students is 12 - 18, unless under certain circumstances. Secondly, you can't just have him pull something from his dorm at a moment's notice like that. You're essentially stating that he can have everything imaginable.

Equipment should be something they usually have on themselves at all times, such as a certain physical weapon or a personal belonging.

  • Name: Jack Valnuin
  • Age: 16
  • Species: Elf
  • Powers: He manipulates sound waves. He can hit people with blasts of sound, or cut people with the vibrations. Given a few minutes to work, he can also discover the resonance frequency of a material or object, and can use this to punch a hole through or even shatter the object in question.
  • Position: Student
  • Appearance: He has long, unkempt and curly black hair, and black eyes. He has long pointed ears ('cause, you know, elf), and usually wears black sneakers, jeans, and a red sleeveless vest with an open black jacket on top. Also wears a black headband.
  • Personality: Laid-back to the extreme. He considers worrying to be too much of an effort and is thus unconcerned about most things. Even when he's serious, he's pretty easygoing. He's so laid back and cheerful that some assume he is a stoner, though he isn't - he's just not very bright. Because of this, he's a very kind person who will try to befriend most anyone, no matter their disposition or musical tastes. He isn't very fond of authority figures, though, and will purposely annoy them for a laugh.
  • Backstory: Jack's parents were Elven digintaries on Multiversal business in a more 'modern' world's America. They had a night off, and had decided to go and see a Rock n' Roll concert (under magical disguise, of course), having come from a world where such things did not exist. They brought the infant Jack along under the assumption the music would calm him. Not only was the music far louder and less pleasant than they realized, but a group of kidnappers, assuming his parents were foreign royalty from some European country, swiped Jack. This was a problem for them, because Jack was also under a disguise that would eventually wear off, and his Elven features would raise too many questions. The piece de resistance of the evening was that Jack's magic decided to manifest itself in the crooks' van, sending them flying off the road in a firey wreck. Jack was the only survivor. After that, he lived an uneventful life in an orphanage, his sound magic keeping away any potential foster parents. When he turned 12, however, the orphanage caretaker, fed up with his loud music and the resultant structural damage, sent him to the Academy to get rid of him.
  • Equipment: A gold-painted Fender Strat that he channels his powers through, picked up from a pawn shop when he was 7. He powers it with his magic, so he doesn't need an amp.

What is so amusing about this? Why do you take lives? How can you forget?

  • Name: Samson Cresting, the Psychotic Wave
  • Age:' Seventeen
  • Species: Human
  • Powers: Demonic Aura (due to being born of possessed parents and spending his earliest days around demonic arts, he exudes a demonic aura that causes animals to hate him and being registered as evil to anti-evil forces. On the other hand, evil magics consider him evil and behaves accordingly), Limited Water Magic (Was trained to become a Hydro/Cyromancer, but his training was incomplete leaving most of his applications low-scale or activated with physical motion)
    • Aqua Blades: Focusing water into a thin blade, he can launch these forward with great speed or wield them. However they're performed by outstretching his arm(s), and to aim them has to move his arms to point at a target.
    • Aquatic Spheres: Condenses water into a small floating sphere which he can control, but can't walk around with it. In addition, the more spheres he has active the harder it becomes to control them all (his max is seven, and by then they all have to follow the same command).
    • Glacial Thrusters: Emits blasts of ice from his hands to aid with his mobility, such as performing quicker stops or limited gliding through the air. Its also useful for augmenting his jumps.
    • Hydro Bomb: A large sphere of condensed water, it'll burst with great force whenever something touches it. However the creation range is short, and it'll only hold together for a few minutes before simply collapsing.
    • Hydro Pillars: Cause water to form pillar/spike like constructs in the direction he swings his arms, and typically has enough force to make someone move. However the longer they get, the skinnier they have to be.
    • Icicle Conversion: Can turn water into ice relatively easy, though this is mainly done in conjecture with his water spells. Outside sources of water takes a while to turn into thick ice, let alone completely.
    • Icicle Slide: Can cause the ground beneath him to freeze, though it's only a thin layer that doesn't affect anything beneath.
    • Roaring Waves: Spell that has him launching forth condensed blasts of water, it comes in three forms: Small (a single blast), Medium (a wider blast that can hit two people), Large (a giant wave that can launch three people). However this is also one of his most consuming spells, with him quickly unable to continue after using two Large waves.
  • Position: Student
  • Appearance: Short light blonde hair, blue eyes, European-like skin tone, five foot eight, and an affinity for long sleeved crimson/white/black clothing.
  • Personality: Outwardly Samson appears to be a cheerful loon with attention span issues. This is mainly an act he only keeps up in public. Though quickly becoming bored isn't part of his act. However, while he's secretly a rather serious person, he enjoys acting crazy as it prevents him from brooding. He also believes serious people shouldn't be so serious, mocking those that he wants to help. In addition, while not chronically bound to heroism, he has a tendency to interfere with others' problems partially as a subconscious desire for social interaction. Though, when one starts insisting he's evil he starts acting more serious. Continuing to insist he's evil will anger him, and those attacking or attempting to punish him for his perceived evil will cause him to violently retaliate. Once calmed down he'll pretend like nothing happened though.
  • Backstory:

Short version; Born to demonically possessed humans that had been kidnapping and producing children to sacrifice to make items of power. He was the only one alive when a traveling mage killed his parents and the demons possessing them. The mage decides to raise and protect him since the demonic aura he exudes would quickly get him murdered otherwise. There was also a slightly older girl following the mage that he adopted for similar reasons.

Once he was eight years old the mage began teaching him Hydromancy partially to benefit his psyche positively. Though, when he was fourteen demons attacked his adopted father and sister only leaving him alone due to his aura. He then began working on his personal quest for revenge, eventually bringing him to his place of birth. There he collects three magical items, as well as learning about the Academy's existence under the assumption it was a demon realm. He then later located a friend of his father that would send him to the Academy.

While initially arriving under his assumption, it doesn't take too long for the misunderstandings to get cleared up. Deciding to remain partially to refine his skills, partially to learn more, and partially to find out why demons had an interest he's been here about four weeks mostly keeping to himself.

  • Equipment:
    • Demon's Gauntlet: A crimson and black gauntlet for the right arm, it was created by demons who used the souls and bodies of young children. The gauntlet itself emits blasts of non-elemental magic, and has its own separate but smaller magic pool from the user. The blasts can also be altered in speed/size/shape, and can augmented by a mage (such as a Pyromancer making them fire elemental blasts or an Illusionist allowing them to emit illusions).
    • Sonic Edge: An enchanted longsword of speed, which functions in two ways. The first, "Passive", enhances his speed and allows him to perform short dashes when on his person but not in use. The second, "Trigger", allows him to perform longer and more powerful dashes which can defy gravity (such as spiraling upwards) when using the sword but no longer gets a passive speed boost.
    • Spatial Ring: An enchanted ring that slows one's fall and allows them to perform very short-ranged teleports (five feet). In addition its blue in coloration.

Before I finish it, want you to check over the Abilities and Equipment. Besides that, is its okay if I just directly list moves (Like Icicle Splitter, Ice Dash, etc from Kingdom Hearts)?

[up] Yeah, powers are fine but the equipment might need a change. At the very least, either take away or dummy-down the gauntlet aspect. The way I see it you could essentially use it to do whatever, given what powers are already around.

Name: Alban Sigurdsson

Age: 16

Species: Dwarf note

Powers: Inertia Manipulation. Alban can alter the willingness of objects to respond to external forces, making them slower and harder to move, or faster and significantly slippier. His signature trick is pretending to be helpless and frail around bullies, since he's a fairly blatant geek, then stopping his aggressor's fist / thrown object in midair and decking them with a single punch.

Position: Student

Appearance: At 4'2'', Alban is fairly tall by dwarven standards. Being a dwarf, he already has an impressive bushy amber beard; his equally amber hair is long and tied in a ponytail. His face is somewhat rounded, with a perpetually smirking mouth and bright, radioactive green eyes. He tends to dress like an artificer of yore, with lots of leather straps and plates, complete with a pair of giant aviator goggles that he never actually wears.

Personality: Alban has a burning passion for mad science. He's rarely seen without his nose in a book, or the parts for his latest Incredible Invention in his hands. Outside of the science stuff, Alban is a cheery Large Ham, loudly declaring how fantastic mundane things are and how useful a good friend such as you could be for his latest experiment... speaking of which, he does have an unfortunate tendency to put science over the safety of himself and others. In spite of that, Alban is not a bad person at all, and does genuinely want a cordial relationship with the vast majority of people he meets.

Backstory: Alban hails from Coronia, a planet where five species typically associated with a High Fantasy environment eke out Urban Fantasy existences best described as "Earth with lots of magic". These species are the dwarves, the elves, the fae, the imps, and the vampires. Alban hails from a Scandinavia-esque dwarven civilization; his parents are Sigurd Dagfinsson, a fortress prospector, and Esther Lorensdottir, a stay-at-home mother.

From a young age, Alban showed mechanical proficiency. As artificers are a valuable part of dwarven culture, this habit was initially encouraged by just about everyone, but enthusiasm turned to worry as Alban's tendency towards the bonkers became abundantly clear. After an incident in which Alban destroyed an entire council estate using only a toaster and a guitar amplifier, the adults around him decided that enough was enough, and he ended up with a paid slot at Antebel's Academy for Gifted Minors to try and teach him some self-restraint. It's been four years now; the expected drift away from insanity hasn't happened yet.

Equipment:

  • A large rucksack, which contains the other items on this list

  • One (1) dwarven tinderbox

  • One (1) claw hammer

  • One (1) electric shaver

  • A variety of small metal trinkets, generally pertinent to his current projects

[up] Accepted.

I'll slot in my characters in a while, but since I'm here I'd like to ask people either planning on joining or planning on making another character at some point to consider having a teacher. Any subject could theoretically be taught, save for combat because I'm slightly selfish and already have someone for that subject.

The Demon's Gauntlet can only fire projectiles. The bigger one is, the overall weaker it actually is (unless multiple shots are charged into one). For stronger shots, he would have to condense them into smaller ones. Even then he could break up shots into smaller pieces, making them weaker as well. In addition, the default form it takes is basically the Demon Fang arte from Tales. So he could make it into a pushing blast, a powerful impact projectile, or even a short-ranged slash among others. However he couldn't make a stationary construct, or manipulate the direction of it. In addition they always have to be fired from the hand, and there's limited mana (not sure how much though). His strongest move with it, however, is called Demonic Crash which is basically using all the mana to form one giant ball of energy. The recharge rate would probably be something like... Two Demon Fangs' worth of energy (he could perform twelve of them consecutively). Temporal speed is another issue though...

Besides that, there's simply too many moves for me to list so is it okay if I just whip them out whenever? In addition, his backstory is basically this: "Demons want to use him to make magic items, they get killed by a wandering mage, mage raises and trains him along with a slightly older girl, demons eventually kill the two of them, he goes back to his place of birth to search for information on the demons, ends up learning about the Academy there and mistakenly assumes its a Demon realm, gets teleported there and has a short-lived rampage until the communications get cleared up, and doesn't mention his history as he proceeds to study here to get revenge."

So do you want me to write his whole backstory or is that fine enough?

[up] Eh, seems good enough. So long as you finish the app, you should be accepted.

Now, without further ado;

  • Name: Octavian Nadis
  • Age: 55
  • Species: Wolf, originally, but is currently a Human.
  • Powers: Therianthropy, aka Animal Morphing. He has the ability to turn into any known species that is part of the Animalia Kingdom (at least those that're on modern-day Earth).
  • Position: Head Moderator. Basically in charge of all the staff, and calls the shots on matters the Headmistress doesn't involve herself with.
  • Appearance: Octavian is an imposing man, despite his frail appearance. He stands at a tall 6'8", he tends to keep his back straight and legs close together. His hair has already grown a dark shade of gray, which he tends to keep combed neatly to the side and cut short. Despite his apparent age, he does not have many wrinkles or other face obstructions, hazel eyes still sharp and focused. He wears a long black Peacoat with a red-trim and silver buttons, that stops at the hips. On the right (his right) lapel is a small badge, stating his authority. He wears a simple pair of black trousers and black leather boots. The only other noteworthy feature about him is the fact that his canines are a little longer and sharper than normal.
  • Personality: Octavian is essentially who you'd think he'd be. Strict on the rules, very particular way of speaking, and little-to-no emotions other than anger. Of course, most of it comes out of his wolfish nature; he simply doesn't understand human thought that well, which makes him a total party killer and very unsympathetic. He still tries his best to help with people's problems whenever he can, although he has about the finesse in conversation as a synthetic voice program.
  • Backstory: Octavian came from a long, long line of varying people who were each adept in Therianthropy, his current generation being born as an arctic wolf. Essentially, they were never entirely wolves, being able to change into anything they wished, but that was definitely their origin. It also happened that the Nadis family line had a very strong bond with that of the Antebel family, dating even farther back than the creation of the academy itself. Most traditions of the earlier eras state the Nadis family being in some form of servitude to the Antebel's, but really it was mostly due to how powerful the latter family was (they were still great friends despite this). Octavian had always been slated as the newest in their line to serve the Antebels, but it wasn't until he reached maturity that he finally donned his human form and took off to the academy, back in 1959. Since then he had been the current Headmistess' right-hand man, through and through, and is the Academy's most trusted ally.
  • Equipment: He doesn't keep much on him except for three things; a powerful taser, a rag, and a bottle of chloroform.

  • Name: Ashlia Ackson
  • Age: 17-ish.
  • Species: "Human". But she's actually a gelatinous-based lifeform that looks like one.
  • Powers: Selective Absorption: She can absorb anything she wishes into herself and apply one or more of it's properties into a certain aspect of her body. All it requires is concentration and direct contact to the skin; bigger the thing, longer the concentration needed. The thing can easily be pulled right back out of her body, usually unharmed. (Examples: absorbing a flashlight to become a giant glow-stick, or turning her skin to rock to resist fire.)
  • Position: Student.
  • Appearance: She's mostly in her human form/disguise, which looks as follows; She has fairly tanned skin that is covered in freckles, but not literally covered. Just a good peppering of them from head-to-toe and is chubby, but not so much fat. She has black hair that she cuts into a Mohawk-ish fasion (kinda like how the punk stars do it) and slicks the longer part backwards. Her eyes are a simple brown and she doesn't wear makeup, save for a light polish for her lips. She wears a white tank-top with some sort of band logo on the front, jeans that were forcibly cut short at the knees so that they're more like shorts, and red sneakers. Without her disguise, she's a translucent purple figure with a glowing yellow nervous system clearly seen. No other discerning features.
  • Personality: The bad girl. She's loud, rude, obnoxious, and mostly self-centered. She enjoys scaring people, pulling pranks, making messes, and generally being lazy. If the need arises, she will pull herself off of her butt and fight. Once she gets into something, it's very hard to snap her out of it and back to her old self, which makes her a tough one to fight. Most of the time though, she simply enjoys using her powers and relishes in the reactions to surrounding people when she discovers some new weird thing she can do with them. It seems that she doesn't care much for the lives of students or staff, and instead only cares about making sure she's alive. Unless either she's threatened/bribed/persuaded into helping, or if there's a helpless animal involved, in which case she'll risk even her life to save it.
  • Backstory: Ashlia started out as a simple gelatinous blob, simply trying to find her identity and where she belongs. At one point or another, a field trip from the Academy to her dimension occurred, and that's when she discovered it's existence , along with her soon-to-be victim and disguise. So, she quickly stowed away with the group as it headed back to the academy, absorbing one student fully and taking her place, but obviously she was found out. Instead of being sent right back, though, she was allowed to stay as a sort of reform program. Most of her actual origins remain hidden from the students, so they won't freak out.
  • Equipment: A cellphone and a pocket-knife.

  • Name: Jacob Yigelse
  • Age: 32
  • Species: Human
  • Powers: Hyper-Senses: Enhanced vision, ability to smell, hearing, sense of taste, and sensitivity. It allows him to essentially smell certain powers and hear varying energies. Unfortunately, this also means that the unpleasant things are next to unbearable to him; a paper-cut feels like a knife wound, and the stench of garbage makes him puke instantly.
  • Position: Combat Instructor.
  • Appearance: Jacob isn't the most athletic guy, so one wouldn't be judged for not knowing he was in charge of possibly the single most important class in the entire Academy. Not to say he isn't super skinny or anything like that. He just seems like your average joe. He has a little flab on him, some muscle some fat, with pale skin and messy blonde hair. Dull blue eyes behind round glasses on a simple face, with no scars or marks. He wears a loose fitting white overcoat over a plain black shirt and tie, with tan slacks and brown shoes. His posture is terrible, his hands are pretty much always in his pockets, and his teeth are more or less unclean.
  • Personality: Jacob is both the nicest and meanest guy on campus. When he's not being a teacher he's pretty chilled out, usually seen out in the school grounds and staring up at the sun, in the cafeteria gnawing on a sandwich, or simply staring at a particular part of the wall he likes. He's talkative, a good-listener, and somewhat dimwitted. However, once combat training does kick off, it's almost like a new personality blossoms; he has a harsh tone, his back is straightened and he uses his hands more often than normal, he's hard on the students, and he isn't afraid to kick someones ass if they talk back to him. He is willing to die for anyone that resides on campus, even if they're one of the less desirable ones.
  • Backstory: Jacob grew up in an ordinary town in ordinary Wisconsin here on ordinary Earth. He didn't even know he had weird powers because most people put off his extreme senses as just a unique quirk. It hasn't been unheard of, of course. His reaction time benefited from his improved hearing and sight, his sense of smell made it easier to pick out which foods were good to eat, and his sense of touch made it honestly quite hard for him in bed. However, on his sixteenth birthday, the people from the Academy officially sought him out, asking for his presence as a teacher there. Once the initial shock subsided and his parents had talked it over for a good while, he happily agreed, since he didn't have much going for him on Earth. Proper training in fighting began, and he excelled. Soon he graduated and took over the job of Combat Instructor.
  • Equipment: The only things he ever has on him is a pen and a yo-yo.
