So today is the last day you can buy Wii points. If you have a Wii Ware or VC game you want to get and don't have any points left, best grab them quick.

Why would I buy Wii Points?

I mean, if I could trade what I have left to put on my Nintendo account, I'd do that instead.

Oh fuck I thought the ability to buy points would be disabled on the thirtieth I'm too late. Has anyone figured out how to hack the wii shop channel yet.

[up][up]Not all VC games are available on the eShop, and I don't think any Wii Ware originals are.

Yeah, it's official. You can't get any more Wii Points.

...

...Has anyone ever played M.U.S.H.A.?

I've heard pretty good things about it. Mainly via Classic Game Room. The Wii Shop Channel had it, but I guess I never got around to getting it there.

...

...Somebody please tell me there isn't any legal red tape stopping Nintendo from having M.U.S.H.A. in the eShop. Or that we'll get an announcement for Virtual Console on the Switch.

Doesn't look like there are any legal issues. The main problem is that there aren't any Wii U emulators for Sega consoles, and the Switch doesn't offer any VC (yet).

Pretty sure this doesn't count as Necro'ing, given that the last post was only a couple of months ago, so I'll type this here. I need some help figuring out why my Wii looks like shit on my TV. Before anyone says anything, on my old HD, 19" TV with 2 SCART ports from about 2010, my Wii games looked pretty damn good. Then I acquired my sister's 24" LG TV because it was bigger and hooked everything up to that. Immediately I noticed the downgrade in visual quality, like it couldn't have been more obvious. Jagged edges, muddy textures, blurry text, you name it. Yet it works brilliantly with my PS 3 and PS 4. I didn't play my Wii for about a year because of the shitty graphics, but I recently bought it out again to run Fatal Frame IV. However, the visuals are ruining my sense of immersion. I know what Fatal Frame IV is supposed to run like, and mine looks considerably worse. No, it's not the game, all my other Wii games look like ass as well, particularly Skyward Sword which looked amazing on my old TV.

So, assuming it was just that LG like to cheap out on their SCART connectors, I bought one of those signal converters you can get that allow you to connect the Wii via an HDMI lead instead of its standard cable. But, while there is some slight improvement over the SCART and Component sockets, everything still looks bad. No, it's not rose-tinted-spectacles, when I first got a Wii I was impressed by how good the games looked despite not having anywhere near the power of my PS 3, and now they look very obviously worse since switching T Vs. Yes I've dicked around with the settings trying to make it look better. No dice. Also my PS 2 looks like ass as well, and that's running Final Fantasy XII, a game which I know looks good.

I would just go back to my original TV, but unfortunately we don't have it anymore, so my only options are to just deal with the shitty graphics, (which I'm not doing), or buy a new TV and hope it's an issue with the way it decodes the signal from the Wii. Oh, and before you mention it, I'm well aware that those signal converters don't actually upscale the Wii's natural resolution like they claim to, and that the Wii can only go as high as 480p.

So, advice. Why does my Wii look shitty on my current TV when it looked great on my old one, and if I do get a new TV, will I just run into the same problem again? And is there another way to improve the picture, like investing in a better signal converter for instance?

Yeah, I tend to make lots of text when I post. TL;DR, My Wii looks like ass, help me understand why.

Can't think of anything witty, so have this instead...

Have you tried a component (not composite) cable? They cost like a tenner and the improvement is noticeable; the only drawback is that some VC games only work with composite. Other than that, no idea.

I really wish I got more of the SNK and TG-16 games when I could have added more points.

At least SNK games are on Switch.

Genesis games get ported all the time so I'm not too upset at not being able to buy more. Plus, I got MUSHA when this was active. And I can transfer stuff over to the Wii U. Mostly games that I can't buy from the Wii U's eShop like my Sega and Square-Enix games. And Smash 64.

Well, today is the day. After 12 years on the air, and two years into the life of the Switch, Nintendo is finally, completely, officially ending support for the Wii. No longer will you be able to buy anything on WiiWare, so if you have any points left, better spend them now.

And Daan Koopman has just gotten a PR mail from Ubisoft that Just Dance 2020 will be the last official Wii game ever released. But there's always homebrew.
