There's way too many 12-Episode Anime this season.

Let's hope Fate Stay Night is a proper 24 episode anime.

On Girlfriend, it is the kind of show I would normally pass up, but the director/writer has me curious. The director is Naotaka Hayashi, the writer of the Steins Gate visual novel and Bravely Default. Though again, he's directing here, not writing, so who knows how that will go.

As for the series composition, it's being done by Michiko Yokote, who has done the writing of shows like Princess Tutu, Squid Girl, Genshiken, and Joshiraku, plus episode scripts of shows like Cowboy Bebop and Gintama. So maybe it'll end up being good?

That's a bad thing, though

Bravely Default has a horrible Idiot Plot, one-dimensional characters, and ends on a giant Broken Aesop. Dunno how much of it is this guy's fault, but I have difficulty seeing being involved with that mess of a story as a positive thing

And most people I've seen disliked the way the story ended up more than I did. Anecdotal evidence may not be the best argument here

But, uh, we're going off-topic again. Anyone who want to continue this argument should take it up through PMs

Bravely Default has an Idiot Plot, but I think a lot of that can be attributed to being stuck in game tropes where the optimal solution is always to do more, not less. Even if it makes no sense. While it does reflect badly on the writer for not tailoring the story to the medium, I don't think this defect necessarily affects how well someone can direct an anime. Frankly, he'll have to use skills that he had no possible way of using in a game, like camera angles and whatnot. So it's hard to judge.

Also, it goes without saying that an Idiot Plot makes the characters act like idiots. That could also be considered solved by changing media.

Denki-Gai no Honya-san is out! Commentary time.

- There is a horse theme.

- Opening credits: I don't know if those apples are safe to eat...

- I am glad you decided against eating it. Rare wisdom.

- Weird lady taking notes at the 18+ section: my guess is that she's gathering...er....tips to use with that special somebody.

- Oh, okay. Well that does explain the professionalism. Sounds like a pretty easy job though.

- You should probably know what BL stands for if you work in a manga store.

- It's great that you have so much in common, being ero book lovers.

- It's great that you didn't actually lick his ear.

- I think I would get the panda-deer manga recommended to me.

- That was an amazing speech. She said everything that needed to be said in so few words. Bravo.

- It looks like we will be getting a manga-writing subplot.

- Can you really blame her for throwing a tantrum?

- I don't know if they really should have tossed in the Comic Carnival scene.

Overall, seems pretty average. It was enjoyable enough that I'll keep watching since I like SOL.

Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.

I liked it. Surprisingly good. Good characters, good jokes. It was nice.

Also, does anyone know if they really toned down Yuuji's role in Grisaia? Because he was kind of the best thing in that VN.

It hasn't aired yet, so who knows. He's not in much of the promotional material, but it's not like they're going to be promoting the males to begin with. That said, I'd advise keeping expectations low

Danna ga Nani wo Itteiru ka Wakaranai Ken wasn't even in my watchlist but I still watched it, because, hey, 5 minutes.

For a short I think this show is really cute and has it's humor on point.

Madan No Ou To Vanadis looks promising. The MC is competent enough to earn the attention he gets and he's got a nice dynamic with the main heroine. Judging by most LNs this is a compressed adaptation, which may be unfortunate.

I enjoyed Vanadis. The fanservice isn't overbearing and the MC is competent, but not treated like a unique, beautiful flower-child whose dick is made of gold (so far, anyway). Plus, Elen looks like a great female lead.

I more or less liked it as well, but the setting, character designs and even the names are driving me up the wall. I hate it when things are so FANTASY! that it's coming out of every possible orifice in far, far too excessive quantities. One'd hope creators would've wizened up to the fact that the genre works best when spiced with a decent dose of realism to keep the more fantastical things grounded and easier to relate to.

[up][up]This, Vanadis is pretty good. Though I had a laugh about how little was made of main character technically being prisoner.
