Just a Face and a Caption: Flirty Stepsiblings

The pic on Flirty Stepsiblings looks likea case of Just a Face and a Caption. I suggest we pull it and look for its replacement.

How do you illustrate step-sibling-ness, though? I'm not sure we can actually do better than a picture of a flirty couple with a caption telling us they're step-siblings.

Two previous threads; both clocked out. Everyone agrees that the pic is JAFAAC, but this has been so problematic to pic that the question is, is it better to have a JAFAAC pic or nothing?

It's not just a face. He looks uncomfortable about something. The pic isn't great but I don't know what would be better.

He's uncomfortable looking, and they don't look blood-related. Now, that could just be him being a shy dude, but it's better than nothing, I think.

Or would it be preferable with something like on Wicked Stepmother for people who need to cover absolutely every base with a detailed map around the field?

I hate that map. It's so... explain-y. I vote to keep, but I'll keep an eye out.

IMHO the page would be better blank.

I think we could find something from a comic book or webcomic — text can clearly illustrate that they are step-siblings.

I'm not seeing how having such a text in the image instead of the caption would make any difference.

That's probably a matter of taste. I really hugely prefer if the text is in the image itself.

I guess it really is YMMV since at the end of the day, objetively speaking, text from within an image is pretty much the exact same thing as text from without.

Anything but another Wicked Stepmother type disaster. I'll even vote blank rather than repeat that atrocity.

Voting BUPKIS. The map in Wicked Stepmother is just plain ugly.

Keep Until Better Image Suggested. Yes, I do think this is better than nothing, for reasons noted earlier in this thread.

I'd be happy to discuss the wicked stepmother if someone opened a thread for that.

I've opened a thread for Wicked Stepmother several times. It's been locked every time. Apparently the mods think it's fine as it is and aren't open to alternate opinions.

I have never seen a thread with a suggestion in the OP locked / declined.

Sire, you have already complained about that image. At some point, repeating it over and over gets tiresome.

No need to get sarcastic. It's obvious from this thread and others that I'm not the only one with this opinion. That's why I'm trying to get somebody else to make the thread, since I'm "just complaining."

Anyway... This isn't JAFAAC, people are seeing the 'flirty'. They look to be about the same age, but not blood-related, and don't seem to be a couple (looking at his reacion).

Having a caption making the stepsibling part clear is just as good as a speech bubble or any kind of text or ugly lines in the image doing it.

I would agree with that. There is basically no way for the image to show that they are step-siblings without text(which would be the same as the caption really). I suppose you might be able to find a comic with someone adressing them as siblings, but it's still text. You could maybe got with a more well know work, but I can't think of one offhand.

Why would I start a thread if I don't have a suggestion? Or is your opinion that it's worse than nothing? That's a hard sell. Don't think anybody disagrees that it could be better.
