With magic, and how long we spent recuperating, who knows if the guards fired up the magic telephone and called the capital.

...Well, if you're going to spoil the next major plot point, you could at least have the decency to pretend to be surprised when it happens, dammit. It wasn't entirely intentional, but I would've revealed it before you left the fort anyway.

(I mean, we've already established the existence of a magical telephone. You think I'd make it a one-off feature?)

No real reason? The day before Mark was telling them that unless it was the Peasant Mafia, they were probably being set up. And now Jhelani is calling in to confirm that it didn't work so they should try again. That would merit some heart flutters, I'd imagine

If anyone needs a few more posts to complete their character interactions, let me know. Otherwise, wrap up and we'll proceed with the plot.

Nope. Definitely two girls. Jones (or perhaps Riviera, it's not clear) is just careless. Anyone got a spare cup?

Justifications:

• Point 1: The girls are out of hearing range, but that doesn't mean they can't be seen talking.
• Point 2: As mentioned, been dropping hints that the cat's out of the bag - note the veiled reference to poison by the guard captain.
• Point 3: ...You already know the gig's up out-of-character, so this should be no surprise.

Anyway, I hope Ishram is sympathetic to our cause, or we're not going to be making it much further.

Nobody knows, Azol never built a timer into it - it was meant to be a suicide pill, after all.

If only we had a place where we could find plenty of bodies to cut a finger off of and put the ring on it like a grenade....

The bodies are in pieces and I very much doubt their owners maintain the fine motor control to press in sequence.
