Hysteria by Def Leppard is a HORRIBLE album.

So I sort of liked On Through the Night, and really, really liked High N' Dry. Pyromania was in the hybrid of changing sound, but it was still awesome. So I try to start Hysteria...

Wow...this is...different. But this is still supposed to hard rock even if it's not heavy metal like the first 3? "Women" has a nice riff...but why are the lyrics so loud in the mix? Joe Elliot's vocals hadn't been bad before...what's happened? These lyrics are embarrassing to listen to...

"Rocket" Ugh "Animal" Ummm "Love Bites" This bites... "Pour Some Sugar On Me" ....Yeah...I'm turning this off.

Bubblegum commercial crap got to them, depressing. Apparently they only got worse after Hysteria too, but at least those albums sold far worse because glam basically disappeared by the early 1990's. Why do people defend this stuff? This is what the 1980's mainstream turned rock and metal into, and they had a very broad interpretation of "metal", Poison or most of the LA Sunset Strip scene for example. Even Guns N' Roses softened after their first album (which came out the same year, 1987, and thankfully outsold Hysteria...was also their best-selling album.)
