It. Has. Chris. Evans. In. It.
No good television will ever come out of something produced by or starring that talentless prick. Anyone who says that one should watch this Top Gear and then make up their mind has obviously never seen anything that that idiot has previously made, or else they wouldn't be making that kind of suggestion. He's even more off-putting than Piers "Morgan" Moron and that's saying rather a lot.
I've only ever seen him in Top Gear with that one interview and James taking his Ferrari.
What's wrong with him.

Oh really when?I don't have all year to expound on how much I dislike the guy and don't rate anything that he presents as other than trash but he must have the same kind of blackmail dirt on BBC bosses that Arsene Wenger has on his bosses at Arsenal Football Club and thus has to be appeased and given programmes at regular intervals or else he whines and threatens people.
He's slightly less disliked in the general public than Piers "Morgan" Moron but it's a close run thing. I posted a webpage earlier on in the thread that explains more about the man than I care to do.
So is Sabine Schmitz still part of the show? They're playing the promos for it's American premier over here and she's not in any of them. Not even her name or a static picture or anything.
It's Evans, LeBlanc, and the Stig.

Oh really when?If she isn't in the show she'd be getting a fuckton of money from the Beeb as compensation for them messing her around, and the Beeb's bosses are too cheap to do to much of that, wankers that they are. She should still be in the show unless something specifically says otherwise, is what I'm saying.
Well, the new series premières this Sunday. I look forward to absolutely everybody in the world watching it.
simple asIt will get an audience, but I foresee its numbers taking a similar kick to the nuts to the one that Batman Vs Superman took in its second week.
Because Evans really is that much of a tosser.
I don't see the ratings getting anywhere near when Clarkson, Hammond and May were at the helm.
simple asIn America, at least, Chris Evans isn't well-known enough to inspire the dislike that seems to have pre-poisoned the well in Britain. So the new show's international ratings might well be better than the domestic numbers. On the other hand, I don't know whether popularity outside the country matters from the BBC's viewpoint, or helps the network in any concrete way.
Yeah, I don't even care about cars—I was into the show purely for the Clarkson/Hammond/May interplay and hijinks, and doubt I'm unique in that respect. I certainly don't wish doom and ruin upon the new showrunners or anything, but we'll just have to see whether they garner enough viewers to matter.

"She was the kind of dame they write similes about." —Pterodactyl JonesYeah well, as soon as you Americans see Chris Evans for the first time for over an hour including ad breaks, you'll kinda understand why he's poison over here.
ETA
Mwahahahahaha. Mwahahahahaha. Mwahahahaha. Ha.
"A source told The Independent that from 4pm onwards people began to filter out of the studio, Evans and co-host Matt Le Blanc attempting to entertain the 'unimpressed' audience.
The pair allegedly had to retake lines numerous times, The Stig’s introduction proving to be one of the most problematic parts for Evans.
This was also the first time audience members were not allowed to take mobile phones or recording devices onto the set to take photographs."
Yeah, Evans. Way to go. Fuck over a decade of tradition and not let the peasants (WHO PAY YOUR WAGES, YOU PRICK! ) take selfies of themselves with all that hot car metal.

...why am I not surprised?
simple asIs Schmitz still in this? I have heard literally nothing about her part in this and she's not in any of the ads for the show.
Oh really when?I'm not sure. The BBC says she is, but I don't trust them ever since Saville, so...
Well... that was dreadful.
I can hardly say I'm disappointed, since my expectations were already pretty low, but I was bored to death watching this.
- Chris Evans has a really annoying voice, and it is even worse when he uses Clarkson's speaking patterns.
- Sabine appeared as little more than an extra.
- They've remodelled the studio the way they did for things like Xperimental or Room 101. It looks really orange.
- The curry house crew seemed like a gimmick that was never really planned out.
- The UK/US rivalry will wear out very, very quickly.
It was not all bad. Chris Evans is definitely the weakest link, especially when he tries to copy Clarkson. At least they let Matt do the Some Say speech. Sabine Schmitz was only used in one challenge in the first episode, but Matt claims she made Chris Evans vomit at some point prior to the episode which was worth it.
I suspect Evans won't stay. He's a known mass-market quantity to let the couch potatoes get familiar with the other presenters. Once Matt and Sabine are well known he can be replaced with Ernie from Sesame Street or something.
Some very mixed reviews are in. First from the Daily Mail. (Or as I like to call them, the Daily Heil!"
http://tinyurl.com/j7ghdwr Short excerpt here: "The new version of Top Gear was a disaster - car-crash television, literally. It was so bad you could practically hear the champagne corks popping at Amazon HQ, the home of Jeremy Clarkson and co.’s new show."
Ouch.
Then we have the Guardian (aka Grauniad):
https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2016/may/29/new-top-gear-review-matt-leblanc-chris-evans-bbc "New Top Gear review: lots of polish but it's still a secondhand car show Matt Le Blanc is a natural at location filming, but Chris Evans needs to relax and stop trying so hard to be Jeremy Clarkson" - maybe not quite as ouchy, but still a bit arch.
And finally here's the Daily Telegraph's view:
"This was a solid first effort, then, but it could have done with less of the gimmickry and more space to show off the cars themselves. There’s always room to tweak the proportions in later shows, though."
As I said, mixed. Sticking to my admittedly tarnished principles, I wasn't watching - an episode of Kevin Smith and Marc Bernardin's podcast did for my Sunday night viewing.
Half an hour into it. Overwhelmingly boring is the word I'd use to describe it.
Matt has some serious snark and good delivery but he's got nobody to play it off of. There's no real chemistry between the hosts.

Oh really when? So, anyone admitting to watching this week's episode?
Hasn't aired here in America yet, ours are on Monday.
Dunno why actually.
Oh really when?So I've begun my new goal. Through Amazon Video, purchase all the golden years seasons of Top Gear. That way I can sidestep the licensing fuckery BBC is pulling on Netflix and Hulu and can watch Top Gear whenever I want.
More good news for BBC bosses. Show's slump in viewers continues despite the good reviews caused by Evans not showing up much.
Of course Iplayer will add to those figures and Evans will crow about that again, but the BBC didn't give the go ahead to the show for a measly less than two and a half million overnight viewers - they wanted five.
Wow. No one's posted in nearly a fortnight, and that last person was me? Cool. Anyway, more good news for Chris Evans - Matt Le Blanc, according to "reports" and The Sun, wants his fat ginger ass shown the door or he'll not be back for the next season.
Personally I'm sceptical, but Murdoch's comic usually has good inside knowledge from the BBC so there might be some truth in the rumours. The ratings have been calamitous despite the spin coming from W 1 A and a big chunk of the cause of that is that no-one can stand the Ginger Whinger. Episodes which are Evans-Lite get more viewers but still nowhere near what BBC bosses were expecting let alone hoping.
Interesting. I wonder if they'll find a replacement or just cancel the show. Or maybe have Matt and Sabine do it themselves.
Oh really when?
Trailer doesn't look THAT bad. It obviously won't be as good as the old by any stretch, but I'd say it still deserves a fair chance.
