If that's Yuyas concept of Enlightenment then I'm afraid what would happen if he had a legit berserk mode.

Well, it'd certainly explain why Enlightenment Paladin has the DARK attribute even though it's A: A paladin and B: obviously has lights shining from behind it. Also why he clearly summons it in the OP in Berserk mode.

Well, to be fair, I think Dark is the attribute that is most liked (or at least this is the feeling I get sometimes).

I'm pretty sure there are more Dark attributes than say, light ones.

On a more related note... Sergey's ace looked just as cool as the duel was disturbing. I really like the way Thorn Prisoners work, I'd actually see myself messing around with the deck if it ever came out.

Considering they like dropping their own life points, maybe cards like Hope for Escape will do something for the deck.

And considering Zuma's effect, cards like Nightmare Archfiends and Ojama Trio would do well with it and the Multiplying Thorns.

So Sergey's strategy is dropping his life points in a controlled manner so that he can lower the boom with his ace eventually. I would assume that receiving damage in any situation that isn't him doing it to himself at a late point in the duel would throw off his strategy as well, so getting around his ability to negate damage would be a good way to win.

Also, now that I've seen the episode, and the preview for the next one:

Fuck you Shinji! I'm starting to see a bit of Moral Myopia from him. If it's not about his agenda, then everyone else can suck it. That's what I'm getting from him.

I hope he's not as unsympathetic to Yuzu's situation as the preview makes him out to be, otherwise, I don't care if he has a good reason to be angry, fuck him.

I wouldn't put it past him to brush off what happened to her.

And now Yuya has another thing hovering over his head while in a duel.

I get it. They don't want things to be easy for him, and I know I've bitched about this before, but is it possible for the kid to go into a duel without some huge trauma burdening him and giving him a massive handicap?

I'm guessing he's gonna struggle a lot because of Shinji's attitude in addition to what's been done to Yuzu, which is something no-one else has to deal with.

Ah well, I suppose he'll overcome it, so there's no point in complaining.

I could see Enlightened Yuya being like Supreme King. The power itself is not evil, but due to the experiences of the person who has the power (Judai believing Dark Is Evil, Yuya's baggage and having EGAO brainwashed into him) has messed the power up from a benevolent purpose to a malevolent one.

That I knew, but still. The guy just needs to be able to duel without having to climb twelve mountains first.

I mean, isn't his opponent being a powerful opponent enough as is?

Anyway, like I said, enough of my bitching. We know he'll be ok so it's really just me beating that same horse (a habit that I can't seem to shake no matter the thread).

That comment about Sergei's life points made me think: Tuning Magician's effect is to damage the user and heal the opponent by 400, right? BAM, there's the monkey wrench Yuya's going to use to turn things around when they inevitably duel.

Also, while it makes sense for him to have one given his boss's origins, I would've saved Sergei's Fusion monster for a later duel to increase the "gotcha" factor.

I'll just say that it'll be an amazing twist if Yuya is barely shaken by it, or instead of being depressed instead has righteous fury and strikes Shinji down. Or something along those lines.

I'm not sure what narrative point would be the best time for Yuya to summon Enlightenment Paladin. The duel against Shinji, the guy who's challenging him to prove his ideals directly through battle, would be an excellent point to reveal a new powerful monster that shuts Shinji up. The fact that the duel is a 2-parter (If I'm recalling correctly) makes this likely. However, Shinji isn't really THAT important to the plot aside from being a malcontent complainer.

Then, it depends on who Yuya duels in the semi-finals. If he ends up dueling Sergey, it's likely he'll summon enlightenment paladin in Berserk mode to take revenge on Sergey. However, there is equal narrative significance to Yugo defeating Sergey, as that would showcase how strong the bond between him and Yuzu is. Not really sure how Yuya'd react to dueling Kurosaki, Crow, Serena, or Yugo in the semi's (Though likely it'll be Kurosaki and Yugo who go through), though.

Not really. Sergey's final plan works as long as he has more than 100 life points at the end, cause he has enough to activate the effect of his final monster.

So the key is to either somehow make sure he has less than 100 before he reaches that point so he can't use it's effect.

Either that, nullify the damage or survive the attack. That being said, he's probably got ways to ensure that won't work too, since in this situation, he's controlling the field. The options you have are what he gives you.

That being said, it might not be that tough. Yuzu's problem was that she assumed she would win, when she'd failed to do anything to him at all. She might have done better if she'd had some face down cards to protect her, instead of needing to rely on an action card.

Time for Yuya to side in some serious firepower when he duels Sergey.

Would that work? I mean, if you could make sure it's your turn when he reaches that point, and pull out the card, or still have it in your hand, you could do it, but since Yuzu never tried a direct attack (did she have that chance? I can't recall), it's hard to tell if he didn't already have a defence against such an attack.

Sparks is as old school as can get in this game, and it would be hilarious is Sergey actually lost to that.

S:"Oh, yes. I've endured. AND ENDURED AND ENDURED AND ENDURED AND ENDURED...!"

Y:"I activate Oozaki."

S:"ENDURED ENDURE...Huh? Oh, Van Zuma Darli totally has an effect which negates all effect damage caused by my opponents card effects."

Y:"Screw this."

Cue berserk mode.

Ah, in response to this post, we know when he summons it thanks to episode previews. I won't say, but we DO know.

To be perfectly honest, it would have been hilarious if Yuzu had this at the end.

I prefer the idea of her just casually flipping over Magic Cylinder just as Sergei does his final attack.
