I haven't seen the series in a long while. I liked it, but I think now I might find it decent.
I do think the series deserves credit for trying to get the facts right about the animals they showed. You enjoy the show and learn something in the process.
And, of course, the great Tim Curry in one of his few non-villainous roles as Nigel Thornberry. Smashing. Positively smashing.
"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."Tim Curry is GOD!
Littlest Pet Shop stole their plot from this show.
Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceI have never seen the movie, but because you mentioned it, I'll go and check it out tonight. Anyway, I loved the show growing up.

Not sure if joking or serious.
I used to watch the show when it was still on Nick, saw the movie as well.
I think when I was 12-13ish I saw the Wild Thornberrys crossover movie with the Rugrats. I have to admit, that was pretty strange.

The episode "Naimina Enkijio" creeped the Hell out of me. Still does.
And I think there was a game based on it.
About what? Tim Curry or the plot relating to LPS?
Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceI just recently watched this show and I remembered I used to watch it all the time when I was little. It's pretty decent watching it now, although I still have fond memories of watching Rugrats.
I love animation, TV, movies, YOU NAME IT!I'm watching the movie right now and I think the scene when the girls gossip about Eliza living near and talking to animals, reminds me of the scene in The Little Mermaid II Return To The Sea when the kids gossip about Melody talking to sea creatures.
The movie was pretty good. A very great attempt at Nick's first enviromental film IMHO. The only downside is that all that licensed music got real grating for me. Not bad, but, C'mon you got Mark Mothersbarg, use him!
Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceDid Mark Mothersbaugh do the music for the show?... I can't even remember!
I know he did Rugrats but as for the others, I have no idea.
(Interesting trivia fact. The first 65 episodes also had Denis M. Hannigan providing the music. He would later lend his talents to shows like Recess and Cat Dog.)
"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."I'm not going to lie, I was never the biggest fan of the show growing up. Looking back, I think they did do a good job with the movie and I give them kudos for some of the specials (like Donnie's backstory) but overall though, I don't have much nostalgia for it.
I remember watching "The Origin of Donny" as a little kid, but I don't remember it as much, so I may rewatch it when I have time.
I'm with Lionheart0 about not having enough nostalgia for it.
Yeah. It was knda forgetable, like Loyld in space.
Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceI didn't find it kind of forgettable. I can still remember a lot of stuff about it to this day. (Then again, I have a pretty good memory.)
Besides, kind of forgettable shows don't get movies.
As for me, it's a part of my nostalgia, yes, but it's not one of those things where I look at it and flash back...

"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."I watched some of the show in syndication when I was a kid, but heck if I remember much of it. I remember scattered bits and pieces, but mostly I don't remember it being very entertaining. I also remember the crossover movie with Rugrats and kind of regret making my mom take me to see it. (Then again, it might have been a promotional "free movie" thing my local theater was doing—there was one summer a few years ago where they took a bunch of semi-older movies and screened them for free. I forgot if it was once a week, different movie each week or whatever it was they did.)

Insert witty 'n clever quip here.Oh, my theater did something like that a few summers, where you would get the ticket and a kiddie snack combo for just a dollar or so.
I remember watching an episode involving hyenas and at the end, I remember hearing the same guy scream "MY HYENA, MY HYENA!!!" on one of the Nickelodeon credit slots.
I caught the tail end of the movie when it aired. Good nostalgia, wouldn't mind the series coming back.
I forget though, did the series have that level of animation? I was surprised at how smooth the movie looked.

#IceBearForPresidentNo, that's Animation Bump in effect, common in just about every animated tv-to-film adaptation.
Most supprisingly happened in the Spongebob movie, that almost looked like primordial Chowder.

Can you stop mentioning that Anytown Show bullshit? I get it, you want people to see your work and like it, but mentioining it in every thread you post in?
"You can run, but you can't hide from the Buzzinator!"
Last night, Nickelodeon aired The Wild Thornberrys Movie for the first time since 2006. I watched it, and I really liked it.
It's the highest rated Nicktoons movie according to Rotten Tomatoes at 80%.
Also, the song made for the movie (that was nominated for an Acadamey Award), freaking beautiful.
What are your thoughts on both the movie and the series?
