Great, now everybody will confuse it with that Dodgeball movie with Vince Vaughn XD
"If I reach for the stars, you can't hold me back"LOL, I think I found the trailer for this too.
Sorry, couldn't resist.

You are displaying abnormally high compulsions to over-analyze works of fiction and media. Diagnosis: TV Tropes Addiction.Or everyone will confuse it with that piss-poor excuse of a classic cartoon remake!!!
Yeah... because NO ONE in this country knows what a FOOSBALL TABLE IS!!!

Probably, but I'm more than certain most americans probably don't know what Metagol is.
Which makes the naming convention even more confusing.
You are displaying abnormally high compulsions to over-analyze works of fiction and media. Diagnosis: TV Tropes Addiction.Because the word actually translates into foosball! It already makes so much sense! Naming that "Underdogs" is the equivalent of winding up for the golf pitch, aiming yourself, concentrating, ............. and then dropping everything to go eat a camel! Because it's STUPID!
As for the movie itself, I have never seen it, but I just hope they don't put a lot of Toilet Humor in it, because Weinstein.
Oh no someone gave a movie about Foosball a Non-Indicative Name that happens to share its name with a 70's cartoon. The end has come for all of us.
It's not like "Underdogs" isn't already a fitting name for a sports series, considering that's pretty much what they're all about.

To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."edited 31st Mar '14 9:43:29 PM by Odd1
Insert witty 'n clever quip here. The story doesn't sound like that, but it just sounds generic. There's a chance the story can be gripping!
I'm sorry, I'm willing to allow for a lot of nonsense in animated works, but this just seems silly.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.I had to log in just to say this. First: Its metEgol, not MET Agol. It means "score a goal", verb meter "insert" in this case a goal in the opponent's goalpost.
Second: I had the same reservations about that movie, being made in argentina and already wary of what many people in my country (and yours, for that matter) think is funny.
Third: The movie is made (directed and written) by Campanela, who recently won the Oscar for best foreign movie (El secreto de sus ojos). That gave me hope.
Finaly: I saw the movie and I have to admit it's pretty damn funny. Not pixar quality but getting there. There is a lot of parody of argentine stereotypes though (the movie lampshades our own way a lot) so I don't know how that can translate well to another country even spanish speaking ones, let alone in english!!
PS: Oh shit this is my first post ever and I have been a troper for years.
IT'S FACE MELTING BEAUTIFUL! face melts*Oh, and I forgot. There is a reason why the title probably isn't foosball. The actual foosball match you guys are discussing happens in the first minutes of the movie ;) I can't say more, spoilers :P
IT'S FACE MELTING BEAUTIFUL! face melts*....... so the move about foosball only has a few minutes of foosball!?!
It's not about foosball! It's more like toy story, it's about foosball figures coming to life and helping their creator/player. There is more actual football, sorry "soccer" than foosball and IT'S AWESOME!!!! See the trailer (in spanish, sorry) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6o8_iHpXZyw
Again, this is not a sports movie. This is a slapstick/adventure movie like many of pixar's films.
IT'S FACE MELTING BEAUTIFUL! face melts*But the GIMMICK of the movie is the living foosball figues! Foosball is all I saw in the images, trailer, posters, etc!! And now I find out this movie isn't about foosball!?!?
The trailers are misleading? Oh my word! What is the world coming to?
I didn't write any of that.https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/NeverTrustATrailer
IT'S FACE MELTING BEAUTIFUL! face melts*Perhaps Shota is arguing that They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot?
That could be, I found a british trailer that is the exact same pitch the original movie had (a monologue about a foosball figurine bragging about scoring a hundred goals in a single day)
IT'S FACE MELTING BEAUTIFUL! face melts*
The Weinstein Company is acquiring the rights to dub what is now Argentina's biggest-budgeted home-grown CGI animated film (and Argentinian films in general) Metagol, translated into Foosball in English. It is about a guy who has to win a foosball competition and win the heart of a girl he likes, with the help of the actual foosball figures coming to life, and only he alone knows they can talk.
So. What do they call this foosball movie about foosball, CALLED Foosball, about a sports game that every American knows of???
UNDERDOGS.
...UNDERDOGS!!!
