I remembered watching In The Army Now when I was younger and liking it, but I'm not sure if I'll feel the same way today. Pauly Shore is a case of someone who found a niche and exploited the hell out of it until people got tired of him. The same thing that happened with Michael Cera and Will Farrel, and both have struggled to get out of that typecasting. I think Shore's an okay comedian, but just didn't have the chops to branch out.
Only time I liked him was in the Goofy movies, mostly because I didn't have to look at him.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatThere was an episode of Johnny Bravo (the one where he goes into a golf tournament, I think), where Johnny tries to talk about a date he wants to set up - the list of things they'll have ends with "a Pauly Shore video"...
I can really imagine Johnny thinking Pauly Shore is the funniest thing ever.
Incidentally, Bio-Dome is an awful, piece of shit movie. The folks at the Synchtube group will agree.
Pauly Shore is the 90s Steve Guttenberg? Steve Guttenberg had a lot of his success in the 90s; remember that in 1994 The Simpsons said the Stonecutters were the ones who made him a star.

"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."Wasn't his big thing Police Academy? And I know him mainly from Short Circuit 1. Aren't those both from the 80s, not counting the ever-increasingly absurd number of PA sequels?
Also he did the dog and dolphin movie in the 90s... To me that spoke of how much he had worn out his welcome. Although looking it up that was late 90s so my bad.

You are kinda right.
There's also an episode of The Critic from 1995 where someone says (about Marty not being able to act) "That's what the young Steve Guttenberg told me, and look at him now! ...No, look at him four years ago."
So I wouldn't quite know.
"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."I like Encino Man, but really only for Brendan Frasier and Samwise's actor.
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.As far as the comparison to Guttenberg, none of Shore's movies would be considered classics of the time, with Encino Man better known as a Cult Classic and a Brendan Fraser vehicle. He also stuck with a very similar type of character and movie genre. Guttenberg has some relatively credible movies on his resume (cocoon and Three Men and a Baby) and shifted up the characters and genre. He fell apart in the 90's from picking movies that, if not direct-to-video at least had that tone to it.

"Y'know, I'd never been on a real airplane before, and lemme tell ya, it was really great. Except that I had to sit between two large Albanian women with excruciatingly severe body odor, and the little kid in back of me kept throwin' up the whole time, the flight attendants ran outta Dr. Pepper and salted peanuts, and the in-flight movie was Bio-Dome with Pauly Shore, and oh yeah, three of the airplane engines burned out and we went into a tailspin and crashed into a hillside and the plane exploded in a giant fireball and everybody DIED. Except for me. Y'know why?...." - Weird Al Yankovic, Albuquerque
Other than that song, the Nostalgia Critic review of Bio-Dome, and Aziz Ansari, I don't know much about the guy. I've just heard that Bio-Dome was awful beyond imagining.
The very best, like no one ever was. Check out my Spider-Man fanfic here! [1]I honestly never saw that much witH Steve beyond Police Academy and Short Circuit. I just know he and Shore are often lumped into that same group of "they were popular for a time but now everyone pretty much considers them a joke."
The only really good Pauly Shore movie might be Son in Law. That is all.
Remember him? He's a guy that existed.
Brendan Fraser of course would go on to completely eclipse Pauly in the career department but I loved Stony in this movie.
Pauly seems kinda like the 90s Steve Guttenberg in he was popular for a time but looking back people just use them both as the butt of jokes like "how did they even get in all those movies?"
What do you think of Pauly and his movies? Did you like any of 'em?
