Bleach is ending thanks to editorial mandate, and I just want to say - Ulquiorra/Orihime. One's a Devilman cosplayer that kidnaps a woman. The other...gets kidnapped more than Lois Lane. I don't see the chemistry outside of Stockholm syndrome.

For the most part I agree. The vast majority of their onscreen interaction is creepy and really only shippy if you're taking your cues from Twilight.

However in Ulqui's final chapter I'm inclined to believe there was a brief, fleeting moment of genuine emotional connection. and then he died

For some reason people really like to pair the dark, brooding, aloof boy with the sweet nature, pure and innocent girl. Kind of common shipping practice really, shipping a goth/emo with a Pollyanna always produce good chemistry.

There is a reason why I ship Wally with Raven, never mind that the only reason he was infatuated with her is due to Raven messing with his mind in order for him to return to action as Kid Flash. And to be fair, Raven is shipped with all the Titans she is on a team with with the exception for Donna Troy for some reason.

Except their only interaction is open hostility before he turned into Devilman to fight Ichigo. That's what weirded me out.

Orihime is just that nice. That's all.

I mean, she's nice to Lolly and Menolly.

Huh, Wally with Raven is a new ship for me. I only ever see Wally and Jinx these days...

Let's see: Amethyst and Peridot have interacted positively post-redemption, and Peridot even saved Amethyst. Now, Lapidot is a whole other can of horse cr- I mean a very meaningful, canon-supported ship.

However, Billdip is still worse. I disliked Bill Cipher, but he was still an alright villain, even though one who perfectly deserved to die and earned it. I despise every single humanization of Bill Cipher.

Gendry x Arya (Game of Thrones). I feel their interactions are mostly platonic, and I just don't see the "romance" in it. Arya doesn't seem interested in that stuff and she's gone through so much trauma she needs therapy first before a boyfriend. That, and I feel Gendry would just never properly understand her or her experiences.

Most Osomatsu ships. At least the non-incest ones. (i get it, people like incest depending on different things, but at least i can see the reasoning- hot boys with good interaction scenes together = good ship). But I don't get why everybody obsesses every other pairing (Jyushi and the girl, Totty and that guy friend he has, that boring Christmas couple), since all the other characters just don't work as romantic interests/they're too annoying for me to ship (Iyami? Totoko? Chibita? The Cat girl? You gotta be kidding me) or have barely a personality for me to get interested in ( "oh she's nice/he owns a car/they spoke once with the Matsuno in charge"- neat, except, that tells me literally NOTHING about that character. Why should I care about them? Why should I ship one of the main leads with somebody who has no personality?

I think Osomatsu is just a series that doesn't work with shipping tbh.

Komaeda/Hinata from Dangan Ronpa... okay, I get how there's so much Ho Yay surrounding the two and how Komaeda's basically confirmed to have feelings for Hinata, but why must it be popular enough to overshadow other slash pairings that are arguably healthier and overall more compatible? It's basically the SasuNaru of the DR fandom.

And I ship it anyway. Oh God, why?

Agreed. Especially since all the Ho Yay is pretty much on Nagito's side. I definitely buy that he's in love with Hajime, but Hajime barely seems to tolerate him. Combined with the really awful way Nagito treats him in Chapter 4, you'd think people would pick a different yaoi ship to sail with.

Swinging to another fandom of mine, Ephraim/Eirika from Fire Emblem, in the same vein as Elsanna from earlier. Yes, I know the franchise is infamous for the incestuous subtext, and that their weapons are named after a pair of incestuous twins, but...c'mon.

I know this is an old question at this point in time, but...

Why is Tsuna x (insert any character that isn't female here) so popular with fangirls? Especially since Tsuna himself is a huge loser, in fact, the loseriest of losers in all of manga and anime?

Maybe fans relate to him or find that his loser-ness makes him a perfect Uke or whatever.
